Chapter 1370: Chapter 1374: Kirin Demon and Frog Immortal
Exploring the unknown often leads to surprises—this venture left Zhu Minglang utterly shaken.
This Mysterious Sea was vast, resembling a sprawling valley. Yet after traversing less than three miles, Zhu had already encountered similar colossal remains, all of considerable rank!
They were lifeless, entombed here for untold years, most of them fossilized into jade-like formations!
If the fossilized remains of one creature couldn’t cleanse the Chongwang Dragon’s Divine Soul, what about two? Three? Ten?
Their numbers far exceeded his expectations!
At first, Zhu Minglang felt a burst of joy, but soon an unsettling sense of dread began to creep in!
He tried to calm himself, relying on his methods for inner peace, but they proved useless in this moment.
Disaster!!!
Zhu Minglang’s heart raced violently!
The fear gnawing at him wasn’t a result of the unknown waters surrounding him—it was because something was watching him!
It was very, very close!
His Divine Sense was suppressed, his perception dulled. In this Mysterious Sea lurked a formidable immortal presence!
Suddenly, all eerie light vanished, plunging the surroundings into a suffocating darkness.
Oddly, amidst this pitch blackness, Zhu Minglang’s Divine Sense became clearer. He could now discern the landscape of this place vividly, noticing countless remains drifting throughout the Mysterious Sea.
These remains were like a swarm of dead fish and shrimp, blended with the seawater, decaying in a putrid cove.
Amidst these innumerable fossilized remains, there was a living entity emitting an aura so terrifying that it filled Zhu Minglang with dread!
This creature stood silently at the very bottom, its glowing Netherworld-like eyes fixated on Zhu Minglang in the upper waters.
It showed no hostility—only a quiet examination of this uninvited guest.
The fear Zhu Minglang had felt earlier stemmed precisely from this being. It was the sole life within this underwater graveyard, yet it seemed to exist somewhere between life and non-life!
For a moment, Zhu Minglang speculated it might be a Demon God resembling a tailed lizard, the type that could stand upright—but upon closer inspection, he realized this being was far from any lowly reptilian species!
It had a tail. It bore Dragon Horns. It had claws but stood erect like a human. Its overall form closely resembled the Southern Heavenly Palace’s White Lin in its semi-humanoid state.
However, unlike White Lin’s pristine elegance, this being’s body appeared corroded, covered in rusted scales, decaying scars, and Nether moss.
Yet despite its decayed, fossil-like appearance, this God Demon radiated a robust and awe-inspiring vigor!
"A half-humanoid Kylin?"
Zhu Minglang hesitated but asked nonetheless.
"Human Race??" The Kylin-like being spoke, its voice echoing words in human tongue.
"Why are you holed up in this underwater graveyard?" Zhu Minglang asked.
This place was evidently a realm of burial.
The ocean’s depths acted as a natural cemetery for sea creatures. Except for some unique marine mud beings, most living organisms of the sea eventually came to rest within its embrace.
The vast number of remains drifting throughout the Mysterious Sea suggested that many of South Mountain Sea’s divine marine entities ultimately found their eternal resting place here, decomposing into fossilized bones.
Yet the presence of this underwater Kylin puzzled Zhu Minglang—it was an oddity, unless, like the Chongwang Dragon, it was also a spirit of the undead.
But judging by the Kylin’s appearance, it indeed resembled a being on the verge of death.
"Can’t you tell that I’ve been imprisoned here?" The Kylin responded, its tone tinged with frustration.
"I figured as much. I’ve never encountered anything quite like you. Are you a Kylin or a Demon?" Zhu Minglang pressed further.
"Kylin Demon Seed!"
"Oh, I see. Who trapped you here?" Zhu Minglang asked.
As he spoke, Zhu Minglang noticed the Kylin Demon Seed’s lower body was oddly bloated, starkly contrasting with its upper frame.
Curious, he moved closer, only to make a shocking discovery—the Kylin Demon Seed’s lower body was entwined by something!
Whatever it was, it was alive. It resembled a giant Frog Immortal and seemed to be another high-ranking presence within this underwater domain.
"It’s but a defective Kylin! Leave it be. In another century, when its scale armor is entirely corroded by the Mysterious Sea, I will consume it. Friend, come find me then, and I’ll share the finest piece of Kylin Immortal Meat with you!" Another voice emerged, clearly belonging to the entity wrapped around the Kylin Demon Seed.
What was going on here???
Entanglement, constriction, locked in a battle without end?
How many years had they maintained this position???
"What kind of grievance is it that keeps the two of you locked in this underwater graveyard for so long?" Zhu Minglang asked.
Bit by bit, the situation became clearer to him.
Whether it was the Kylin Demon Seed or the mysterious Mysterious Sea Chapter Immortal that remained hidden, both appeared to be advanced Demon cultivators. They must have fought furiously here, ultimately trapping one another by targeting each other’s critical points!
From the Mysterious Sea Chapter Immortal’s words, it seemed intent on wearing the Kylin Demon Seed down over time.
At the same time, the Kylin Demon Seed had managed to pierce the Chapter Immortal’s core with its Kylin claw. Were it to pull free, the Chapter Immortal would surely perish—but it had been immobilized by the entwining grip of the Frog Immortal!
"Its heart essence has already been pierced by me. Help me sever its body so I can escape. Aside from its heart essence, the rest of its form is yours. This creature rivals the worth of an Ancient Demon Cultivator aged a million years. Moon Radiance Stage beings would consider it a treasure!" The Kylin Demon Seed immediately offered.
"Ha! And the Kylin Demon Seed’s own body isn’t worth anything?" The Frog Immortal remarked with an eerie laugh.
"Help me destroy it, and I will grant you a Demon wish. This is a unique skill of the Kylin Demon Seed." The Seed continued to persuade.
"If it escapes, the first thing it will do is kill you, friend. That way, it can save one of its Kylin Horns. Fulfilling a Divine promise requires sacrificing a Kylin Horn. Friend, why not team up with me and get rid of it ourselves? I’ll give you its promise horn—you can wish for anything you desire." The Frog Immortal retorted.
"I can swear by my Divine Soul that I will not harm you if you help me!" The Kylin Demon Seed pleaded.
"I can also swear by my Divine Soul..."
Zhu Minglang felt his head spinning.
"Please, the two of you—great beings! There’s no need to argue. With your miraculous powers, I doubt I could help either of you. Let me remain a mere mortal, uninvolved in this." Zhu Minglang said cautiously.
Zhu Minglang wasn’t foolish.
The waters around them swarmed with corpses. These weren’t fossilized remains—they appeared disturbingly fresh!
How had they all died???
