Chapter 1358: Chapter 1362: Fate of the Locked Immortal
When returning to Qin Yun Palace, just as they were about to part ways at the rain corridor, the Weaver Star Fairy unexpectedly called out to Zhu Minglang.
"Come with me," the Weaver Star Fairy said.
Zhu Minglang was somewhat puzzled but followed the Weaver Star Fairy after a few steps.
Although he had stayed here for quite some time, this was his first time heading to his master’s sister’s residence. Along the way, on the clean soil, purple rose-like flowers were planted. Some sparkled like stars scattered across the sky, while others formed a serene flow resembling a purple pond rippling softly in the breeze.
Upon arriving at the celestial residence, Zhu Minglang noticed it was sparsely occupied. There were hardly any maids, and even the Cloud Spring Water was fetched by the Weaver Star Fairy herself from the well behind the house.
Sipping on the slightly chilled, sweet spring water, Zhu Minglang felt even more perplexed.
"This is something I obtained from that Fox Immortal—a Quenching Bead. Judging by its composition, Empress Luoxiang was not new to deceiving the faith of her citizens. Her aim was to advance her Ancient Cultivation, and second, to acquire this Quenching Bead," the Weaver Star Fairy said, placing the jade-like bead on the table.
"What purpose does this serve?" Zhu Minglang asked.
"Whether it comes from faith power gained through deceit or faith power received through the guidance of a True God, essentially, there’s no difference. Both can aid one in ascending to Immortal status and achieving Divine Soul cleansing," the Weaver Star Fairy explained.
Upon hearing this, Zhu Minglang immediately understood.
So this trip was quite profitable, after all.
"Someone has been enabling Empress Luoxiang from behind the scenes. This matter had already crossed into your expectations, hadn’t it, Master Sister?" Zhu Minglang said.
"Indeed. In the City of Ten Thousand Miles and Human City, many Temple Gods dare not confront her. If her actions hadn’t infringed upon my divine duties, she could have easily cultivated there for another decade. By then, having ascended to the rank of Ancient Empress, there’d be few Temple Gods in the City of Ten Thousand Miles able to rival her," the Weaver Star Fairy replied.
"That High Priest of the Temple sure has a lot of nerve. Is there no one capable of dealing with him?" Zhu Minglang questioned.
"He has been domineering over the Immortal Court for years. Only the words of the Five Directions Emperor can make him listen somewhat. To him, everyone else is nothing more than dust and ants," the Weaver Star Fairy answered.
Zhu Minglang nodded in agreement. One could discern this individual’s nature just by observing his gaze—self-centered and invincible. What’s worse is that, although most gods of such stature generally conceal their arrogance and exhibit a semblance of modesty, he doesn’t bother. He wears his blatant contempt and disregard for all openly on that disgustingly smug face!
Truly arrogant beyond measure!
"Anyone who acts this recklessly will eventually meet their match. Master Sister, don’t waste your anger on such a brainless fool. Master Sister, your talent and perseverance eclipse those of most deities. You’ll surpass him in cultivation within a few short years, and then you can settle accounts with him properly," Zhu Minglang consoled the Weaver Star Fairy.
The Weaver Star Fairy gazed at Zhu Minglang, increasingly convinced that this young disciple embodied a soul far beyond his years.
Most ambitious disciples, especially those on the verge of entering the Moon Radiance God Level at this age, would typically react impulsively in the face of such provocations. Yet this boy, not even seventeen years old, seemed to possess an extraordinary sense of restraint.
"Take this Quenching Bead. It should serve as one of the divine cleansings required for your Nine-Tailed Dragon. However, I don’t recommend that you attempt ascension anytime soon," the Weaver Star Fairy advised.
"Why not?" Zhu Minglang asked.
"Jiu He is not only the High Priest of the Temple but also the deity who governs the Heavenly Souls of most people. He’s vindictive, holding grudges against anyone who has slighted him. Whether it’s you or me, without absolute assurance, we must not rush into ascension. The divine favor we’ve accumulated will otherwise be stripped away by him," the Weaver Star Fairy said earnestly.
The god who controls the Heavenly Soul!
Zhu Minglang sighed inwardly. No wonder he acts with such arrogance.
That essentially makes him someone neither most mortals nor the entire Immortal Clan dare to antagonize.
As the God of Fuchen, Zhu Minglang also possesses the divine skills to manipulate others’ Heavenly Souls. In accordance with his divine duties, he can interfere with others’ immortal paths, even severing their future Heavenly Soul connections.
However, the conditions for employing such a divine skill are exceedingly stringent—it requires the other party to meet numerous criteria of heinous acts.
Jiu He, on the other hand, wields this power far more unscrupulously. Based on Master Sister’s explanations, if someone merely displeases him, he can sever their chances of attaining the Immortal God Realm!
Such tyrannical power—no wonder he pays no heed even to Master Sister.
"Master Sister, just now you mentioned that neither of us is suited for ascension in the near future. Does that mean you’ve already reached the pinnacle of the Moon Radiance God Level and are now striving toward the Sun Crown God Level?" Zhu Minglang caught onto this subtle detail and couldn’t resist asking.
The Weaver Star Fairy paused for a moment, appearing slightly stunned.
She had indeed let slip more than intended, inadvertently revealing her own situation.
But her primary motivation had been to kindly remind Zhu Minglang not to place his hopes for advancement on the favor of the heavens.
"Yes," the Weaver Star Fairy nodded, choosing not to conceal her cultivation progress.
Moon Radiance God King!
So it turns out that his Master Sister is only a step away from becoming a Sun Crown God. This realization greatly reassured Zhu Minglang.
If Master Sister breaks through in the coming years and ascends to the Sun Crown God Level, then he, as her true passing closed-door big disciple, would naturally benefit greatly—perhaps even leap several steps forward in cultivation!
Thinking along these lines, following the Weaver Star Fairy might not be such a bad arrangement. During his growth phase, having a deity with significant influence as a guardian ensures protection against unpredictable crises.
...
Indeed, ascension through purification involves an element of fortune.
Some individuals are blessed on their immortal paths, allowing them to ascend successfully on their first attempt. Such lucky ones are invariably celestial favorites, having received significant divine favor through their actions.
Beyond this, the cycles of causality tied to the Heavenly Soul, Earth Soul, and Human Soul also influence a cultivator’s success in ascension.
Upon reaching the Star God Divine King Level, even after completing the Six Divine Cleansing, the average success rate for ordinary Immortal Gods attempting ascension is merely one in six—let alone those using pieced-together or substitute cleansings.
The Weaver Star Fairy had specifically cautioned Zhu Minglang against attempting ascension anytime soon. After returning to his residence, Zhu Minglang tried sensing his own Heavenly Soul, hoping to determine whether it had truly been subjected to a curse.
"That goddamned bastard!" Checking up on it enraged Zhu Minglang further, prompting him to curse aloud!
His Heavenly Soul appeared veiled by a murky aura. The sensation was akin to an upright official on the verge of ascending the political ladder being falsely accused of harassing subordinates. Even though entirely fabricated, the salacious nature of the rumors caused them to circulate persistently, with authorities deliberately avoiding promoting him to female-associated roles...
Purely revolting!
This truly is the work of that petty, vindictive dog of an Immortal!
