Chapter 1355: Chapter 1359: All Very Nourishing
"Excellent, excellent..."
"Guardian King, how could Seventh Mother deceive you? If not for the sake of blessing the people, Empress Luoxiang wouldn’t meet a mortal Monarch so easily. This is a once-in-a-thousand-years opportunity for your Wei Dynasty." Sixth Lady’s voice drifted out from within.
"I... I only meant to abdicate my throne and retreat to the mountain for quiet cultivation with Sixth Lady. As for the thoughts of the people, I find it difficult to influence them," the Guardian King said hesitantly.
"Empress Luoxiang allows you to cultivate here, to be imbued with the fragrance of spiritual essence that will elevate your merit and help you ascend. She wants you to build a temple on Earth fitting her divine form. What does that have to do with the people’s opinions? You are the Monarch—do you need to ask your subjects for permission to construct a temple?" Sixth Lady said with some dissatisfaction.
Zhu Minglang and the Weaver Star listened to these words and grew increasingly clear on what exactly Empress Luoxiang planned atop Mount Luoxiang.
Step one: create some divine miracles and spread word of them.
Step two: attract pilgrims and foster the image of endless worshippers streaming in.
Step three: curry favor with worldly aristocrats and royal kin, using them to endorse and promote her, building temples in prosperous locations to make her faith seem no longer rustic but resplendent.
Although many True Gods rose in similar ways, everything about Empress Luoxiang’s ascendance was manufactured, laced with deception.
Merit and prestige must be built gradually. This act of feigning sanctity and then frenetically taxing people’s faith—this was faith fraud.
As a True God, Zhu Minglang couldn’t tolerate such behavior.
What’s more, Empress Luoxiang’s actions directly infringed upon the divine authority of Weaver Star!
"This might require prolonged deliberation. Our Wei Dynasty has always worshiped the Seven Immortals Temple. Constructing a temple in any prosperous area must meet the entire nation’s consent, and it must be reported to the Earth Temple Priest..." the Guardian King cautiously said.
"I’ve already explained, haven’t I? Empress Luoxiang’s divine form is no inferior to that of an Earth Temple Priest. She comes to the mortal realm only to accumulate merit—she does not wish for the Earth Temple Priest to know. As the Guardian King, the leader in Jun Tian, can’t you decide for yourself which god to worship?" Sixth Lady spoke hurriedly, her tone no longer gentle and alluring as before.
"Precisely because I am the Monarch, I cannot casually change faiths," he replied.
"Your people curse you, spit upon your name, calling you a foolish ruler. Even children of five or six years know you to be the most worthless Monarch in memory. Wouldn’t you want to change that? The world reveres the divine, not the ruler. Are you truly content with that?" A voice soft yet ethereal—the serene tone of a girl—interrupted once more.
"I am indeed incompetent, which is why I feel I’m unworthy of being Monarch. That’s why I wish to discard worldly concerns and retreat here for seclusion. Even without fine clothing and exquisite food, even living on plain tea and coarse meals—so long as Sixth Lady is with me, that’s enough," the Guardian King said.
"Fool!" Finally, Sixth Lady couldn’t hold back anymore.
Was something wrong with this man’s brain?
"Sixth Lady, wasn’t it you who invited me here to cultivate with you? We can leave everything behind right now..." said the Guardian King, utterly bewildered.
"A worthless fool. Sixth Lady, drain him dry," the serene girl spoke coldly.
"Yes, Empress," Sixth Lady replied.
"You... you... Sixth Lady, you..."
"What? Don’t tell me you didn’t know I’m a monster?"
"I... I knew. But as long as we’re happy together... I wouldn’t care whether you were a monster or not."
"But I care whether you’re a Monarch I can exploit. Now that you’re worthless, why not let me enjoy devouring you? I’ll be grateful for the millennium of cultivation you’ll afford me!"
"Is this... karma?" The Guardian King murmured to himself. He didn’t seem overly terrified, but more resigned to his fate.
Sixth Lady didn’t care about what the Guardian King muttered. She stepped toward him, her enchanting Fox Charm Eyes radiating a peculiar light. She approached his face as though to kiss his cheeks, but instead began siphoning his soul.
The human soul coiled like wisps of phantom smoke, which Sixth Lady inhaled indulgently. She reveled in the act, for a Monarch like him, carrying some cultivation base alongside the worship of thousands, boasted an abundant trinity of heaven-earth-human souls. Upgrading her own cultivation base by ten thousand years posed no difficulty at all.
Just as Sixth Lady drained the last of his soul’s trinity, suddenly, a thunderous chord rang out from within the house. The unusual melody exploded within her mind, causing her to violently tremble and recoil as though struck by lightning.
The Taoist Temple’s doors burst open as a majestic, lion-maned Dragon stormed through. With the concealing doors shattered, Zhu Minglang and Weaver Star strode inside.
Weaver Star’s God’s Light shone dazzlingly, a luminous spectrum of seven colors.
She cradled a small harp in one hand and lightly plucked its strings with the other, emitting bursts of music. At once, countless ethereal harp strings converged like bladed steel cables flying furiously toward Sixth Lady and Empress Luoxiang.
Quick in her response, Sixth Lady’s tail unfurled like a fan and whipped toward Weaver Star Fairy and Zhu Minglang with ferocious force. The sweeping gust surged forth like rivers overturning.
"Stop!!!!!!!!" The Chongwang Dragon roared, stomping forward with massive force, shattering the overwhelming energy emitted by her tail with a single collision.
"An Ancient Yao of Mysterious Ancient Level. Apart from the Moon Shadow Hide failing to conceal your tail, you’ve nearly perfected your humanoid form. Your soul bead, cultivated over tens of millennia, might prove nourishing enough for my Dragon!" Zhu Minglang mocked.
"You brat, how dare you behave insolently before this Fairy!" Sixth Lady shouted angrily.
"Instead of peacefully being an idle fox demon, you insisted on wreaking havoc upon the mortal realm. Let me, this humble monk, first absolve your sins, then uproot this entire Fox Monster Taoist Temple!" Zhu Minglang had already adopted the persona of a demon-vanquishing monk.
This Ancient Yao indeed possessed considerable cultivation base, holding her ground against Chongwang Dragon in their God King Level Realm duel.
While Sixth Lady clashed ferociously with Chongwang Dragon, Empress Luoxiang rose gracefully, embodying an ethereal Fairy untouched by mortal dust. Amid the collapsing debris of the Taoist Temple, she pivoted and departed, unscathed.
No matter how overwhelming the wave of destruction—from explosive energy to flying rubble—it all seemed to suspend around her slim figure, inexplicably unable to touch her...
Thus, a surreal spectacle unfolded. Around Sixth Lady and Chongwang Dragon, their God King Level clash unleashed devastating ripples that razed all surroundings, but near Empress Luoxiang, everything remained pristine—every blade of grass, brick wall, and red column untouched!
Zhu Minglang naturally took note of this scene, his heart surging with silent astonishment.
Empress Luoxiang’s cultivation base was surely far more terrifying!
"You deal with her and the Temple’s monsters," Weaver Star Fairy said, clearly recognizing Empress Luoxiang’s profound cultivation base. She gave Zhu Minglang a brief instruction before following the departing Empress Luoxiang.
"Be careful," Zhu Minglang cautioned.
This Empress Luoxiang was no ordinary adversary—of that, Zhu Minglang was certain.
