Chapter 1169: Chapter 1169: Spirit Emperor Temple

Feng Wuchen originally planned to make a trip back to Tianying Pavilion.

However, since Bright Moon had already come to deliver the orders, Feng Wuchen decided to head straight to the Spirit Emperor Temple.

Rescuing others was his duty.

But before heading out, Feng Wuchen would first need to meet up with the Tian Kui-level assassin.

Atop a mountain peak, Feng Wuchen stood proudly in midair, imposing and majestic.

"If there’s an ambush, given the strength of the Spirit Emperor Temple, even with the intervention of a Tian Kui-level assassin, it might still be difficult to retreat unscathed," Feng Wuchen frowned slightly, a trace of worry creeping into his heart.

The Spirit Emperor Temple was the strongest presence in the Ling Realm, and the Spirit Emperor was one of the eight Heavenly Emperors, a fearsome powerhouse of the Tiandi Realm.

"Whoosh!"

A figure suddenly flashed into view—it was none other than the Tian Kui-level assassin.

"As expected of a Tiandi Realm expert, it’s impossible to detect his presence. His aura feels incredibly strong, but I can’t discern his actual cultivation level," Feng Wuchen marveled inwardly at the prowess of a Heavenly Emperor.

"Someday, I too shall reach the Tiandi Realm!" Feng Wuchen confidently declared to himself.

"I’ve long been anticipating meeting the Tian Kui-level assassin of Tianying Pavilion," Feng Wuchen courteously clasped his fists.

"Dragon God Young Master, you’re too kind," the Tian Kui-level assassin said with a faint smile. "Despite only joining Tianying Pavilion a few months ago, you’ve repeatedly embarrassed the Moon God Palace and bloodied the Glazed Light Sect. Now, you’ve become a renowned gold-rank assassin in Spirit Capital. Truly admirable."

"It’s nothing compared to a Tian Kui assassin," Feng Wuchen replied with a casual smile, spreading his hands.

"Dragon God Young Master doesn’t need to be modest. Among the gold-rank assassins of Tianying Pavilion, few are stronger than you. For this mission, I will protect you from the shadows. Just focus on your transaction at the Spirit Emperor Temple," the Tian Kui assassin said with a hint of respect.

"Alright! With you accompanying me, I won’t fear any ambushes," Feng Wuchen said with a smile, then swiftly flew toward the Spirit Emperor Temple.

This journey was akin to walking into the lion’s den, but with the Tian Kui assassin by his side, Feng Wuchen felt no fear even in the face of danger.

The Tian Kui assassin vanished into thin air, completely withdrawing his aura, to the extent that Feng Wuchen couldn’t detect his presence.

The gap between Feng Wuchen’s cultivation and a Tian Kui assassin’s was too vast, so it was only natural that he couldn’t perceive it.

The Spirit Emperor Temple was located in the heart of the Ling Realm. Although the journey was lengthy, it wouldn’t take much time.

With Feng Wuchen’s speed, he reached the towering peak where the Spirit Emperor Temple was situated in just one day.

From afar, a grand, majestic palace stood atop the lofty peak, shrouded in ethereal mist. It resembled a celestial palace, evoking awe and fear in all who gazed upon it.

"The Spirit Emperor’s palace truly lives up to its reputation—how magnificent," Feng Wuchen remarked with a faint smile.

From within the palace emanated formidable auras—Heavenly Monarchs and Heavenly Gods were not in short supply.

"As expected of the Ling Realm’s most powerful force. Truly formidable," Feng Wuchen praised, his heart quietly tightening with tension.

Feng Wuchen slowly descended and was soon detected by the temple guards of the Spirit Emperor Temple.

"Who goes there? Intruders into the Spirit Emperor Temple will perish!" a guard at the Heavenly Monarch level barked coldly toward Feng Wuchen.

"Is this the Spirit Emperor Temple’s hospitality? I am a distinguished guest of your temple, and yet no one has even come to greet me?" Feng Wuchen sneered lightly, his tone arrogant.

"Famed assassin Wind Shadow, you truly have courage to venture solo into the Spirit Emperor Temple," a calm voice said with a laugh. As the words fell, Gu Xingfeng appeared on the palace plaza, his gaze directed at Feng Wuchen hovering midair.

"How can you treat an honored guest this way? Stand down," Gu Xingfeng said with a wave of his hand, signaling the guards to withdraw.

"Honorable Wind Shadow, please," Gu Xingfeng said courteously, gesturing with a welcoming motion.

Feng Wuchen gracefully landed on the plaza and, under the curious, astonished, and disdainful gazes of the many Spirit Emperor Temple guards, walked toward the great hall.

"May I ask if you’ve brought the Crystal Stone, Wind Shadow?" Gu Xingfeng asked with a smile.

Feng Wuchen strode past Gu Xingfeng without even glancing at him and said, "Are you an idiot? I haven’t even saved the people yet—why would I bring the Crystal Stone? Foolish."

"No matter," Gu Xingfeng replied with a faint smile, showing no trace of anger despite the insult.

The Spirit Emperor Temple guards broke out in cold sweats, awed by Feng Wuchen’s audacity in insulting the temple’s respected figure.

Within the Spirit Emperor Temple, the strongest of the Heavenly Deity Realm was Gu Xingfeng, who had reached its late stages and was not far from the Tiandi Realm.

"Sir Wind Shadow, this way please. It’s just over there," Gu Xingfeng said with a faint smile. "You are not yet qualified to meet the Spirit Emperor. My personal attention is more than sufficient."

"Makes no difference to me," Feng Wuchen shrugged indifferently.

"I want to see if Tianming and Chasing Moon are still alive," Feng Wuchen said.

"That’s simple," Gu Xingfeng replied with a faint laugh. With a wave of his hand, a turquoise screen appeared out of thin air, revealing Tianming and Chasing Moon bound in chains.

The two had been imprisoned for over a month, gravely wounded yet still alive.

Seeing that Tianming and Chasing Moon were alive put Feng Wuchen somewhat at ease.

As Feng Wuchen entered the great hall, Gu Xingfeng motioned for a maid to serve tea.

Since he was a guest, hospitality was, naturally, necessary.

"Yesterday, Sir Wind Shadow bloodied the Glazed Light Sect. This matter is now widely known and truly surprised me," Gu Xingfeng said with a faint smile.

"I didn’t come here to chat about nonsense with you. Bring the people up," Feng Wuchen said coldly, his icy gaze sweeping across Gu Xingfeng.

"Fair point," Gu Xingfeng replied with a faint smile and then clapped his hands. Soon enough, several guards brought Tianming and Chasing Moon forward.

The two were critically injured, and Feng Wuchen immediately stepped forward and asked, "Brother Tianming, Chasing Moon, how are you?"

"Wind Shadow?" Tianming and Chasing Moon’s expressions shifted drastically; they could scarcely believe Feng Wuchen dared to venture into the Spirit Emperor Temple.

"Why are you here?" Tianming asked in disbelief, thinking he must have been seeing things and eventually speaking after a long pause.

"Of course, I’m here to rescue you," Feng Wuchen said with a faint smile, showing no hint of anxiety or fear.

"Rescuing them is certainly possible, but hand over the Crystal Stone first, and I will let them go," Gu Xingfeng said with a faint smile, not at all worried that Feng Wuchen could take the captives away.

"Wind Shadow, don’t trust him! If you hand over the Crystal Stone, not only will you fail to save us, but you won’t escape either!" Chasing Moon shouted urgently, fearing Feng Wuchen might fall into the trap.

Upon hearing this, Feng Wuchen sneered, "Gu Xingfeng, you might be foolish, but I’m not. This is the Spirit Emperor Temple—if I hand over the Crystal Stone, I seriously doubt any of us could leave alive."

"You’re smart, but you’ve misunderstood me," Gu Xingfeng said with a faint smile. "We can conduct the exchange in another location—no problem."

"Follow me. Only you can come along," Feng Wuchen said and immediately flew out of the palace.

Gu Xingfeng waved his hand, wrapping Tianming and Chasing Moon in a powerful force to follow him outside.

"The Tian Kui assassin is hiding in the shadows. Do not act rashly—retrieve the Crystal Stone first, and then make plans," the Spirit Emperor’s voice suddenly echoed by Gu Xingfeng’s ear.

"Understood, Spirit Emperor!" Gu Xingfeng responded with reverence.
