Chapter 470

Chapter 470: 470

Yu Zhen, no matter how annoyed he was, couldn’t possibly quarrel with Wufu, a young girl, under the watchful eyes of the public. After all, his age and reputation were well known. Not to mention the saying, "A decent man does not fight with women," which already limited him, let alone the fact that he was old enough to be Wufu’s father.

Now, seeing Wufu addressing him, Yu Zhen snorted coldly, flicked his sleeve, and stepped forward to study the dull-looking raw material.

Wufu watched his movements and methods dispassionately, and she had to admit, Yu Zhen did have some skills. Just by his seasoned techniques, one could tell he was not without merit.

It was a pity, though, that he was so conceited yet encountered a master who kept his skills closely guarded.

Yu Zhen examined it carefully and after a while, he stood still and said, "This material has no stone." Then he looked towards Wufu.

Wufu also stepped forward, employing almost the same methods as Yu Zhen. To the onlookers, it seemed as if she was imitating Yu Zhen.

"I agree with Craftmaster Yu’s words, this material has no stone," Wufu said with a smile.

Hmph, riding on others’ coattails!

Yu Zhen smirked with disdain, the cheeky girl, she truly had no real talent, though she was good at making a show of things.

On Wufu’s side, Master Craftsman Chen and the others had come to a different conclusion, frowning and saying, "I see there is a stone, look at this patch of green, it’s undoubtedly jadeite..."

He started by discussing the quality of the raw material, to the presence of earth and white cotton in it, talking with clear and logical reasoning.

Wufu listened with a smile but said nothing.

"Lady Fu, how can you be sure there is no stone?" Craftmaster Zhang asked, arriving at a similar conclusion to Master Craftsman Chen.

"Intuition," said Wufu.

What, intuition?

Master Craftsman Chen burst into a mirthful laugh, puffing up his beard and said, "My lady, you cannot rely on intuition for this. You should know, one cut and someone could lose everything, while someone else might miss out on a treasure."

Wufu shrugged and replied, "Gambling on stone is about experience and skill, but doesn’t it also gamble on luck? Intuition and luck are linked, so how is that wrong?"

This...

The explanation seemed quite reasonable, but Master Craftsman Chen and the others couldn’t accept it, and they left the stage huffily to report back to Wen Jian.

"Do you all think it’s worth gambling on?" Wen Jian asked the two older craftsmen.

Master Craftsman Chen and the others nodded.

Wen Jian then looked towards Wufu, and she said, "Since both great craftsmen say there is something, then perhaps I was wrong. But Yu Zhen also said there was nothing, and he is the senior disciple of Master Lin, so he should be quite capable, right?"

The corners of Chen’s and Zhang’s mouths twitched. Now you’re praising him, yet just now, weren’t you sarcastic enough to make his face turn yellow?

Having heard this, and seeing that Thousand Treasures Tower hadn’t made a move, Wen Jian thought for a moment and decided not to act either.

The two craftsmen were somewhat disappointed and displeased upon seeing this, but since the owner was present, and the decision was up to him, they couldn’t openly oppose him no matter how dissatisfied they were.

In the end, the rough stone was sold for five thousand taels, but when it was cut, it turned out to be black and gloomy inside, just like the exterior. As for that patch of green on the surface, it was only palm-sized after being fully uncovered, useless for making anything substantial. It was a loss.

However, it was only a loss of four thousand taels, so the buyer just gave a wry smile, said nothing, and waited for the next stone.

On the side of Hundred Treasures Silver House, Craftsmen Chen and Zhang had faces as green as jade, desperate to go up and make the cut themselves, but the reality was right before their eyes, and it was not something that would change even if they were the ones cutting.

Luckily the owner hadn’t bought it, otherwise...

They didn’t dare to look at Wen Jian, and they couldn’t even bring themselves to look at Wufu.

Wufu, however, chuckled and said, "It seems that Master Lin’s senior disciple really does have some skill."

Wen Jian looked at her thoughtfully, then continued to watch the stage, wondering if this girl truly had a keen eye, or if she was just riding on Yu Zhen’s luck?
