Chapter 469
Chapter 469: 469
Wufu felt it was such a pity because she had missed out. If she had been in time to acquire the first piece of rough jade, she could have secured a surefire profit since the auctioneers always stirred up the atmosphere with the first lot to hook the participants’ emotions.
And the more people who joined in, the higher the commission for the association would naturally be, so it was indeed regrettable to miss out.
She blamed those few for making her lose out on a guaranteed full green.
Wufu’s resentment ran deep, and with a sidelong glance at those individuals, they suddenly felt a chill down their spines. Where did this draft come from?
Whether gambling or trading, the first piece of rough material was a success, and the buyer went down to settle the deal. Then the second piece was brought up, looking dull and unimpressive.
But in the most unspectacular part, a small spot had been rubbed clean, revealing a faint patch of green.
No need for the auctioneers to say anything, bids were already being placed one after another.
"Miss Wufu," Master Craftsman Chen reminded Wufu.
Wufu stood up, and several others headed to the stage with her.
In a certain private room, someone caught sight of Wufu and his eyes sharpened. Without a second thought, he stood up and made his way to the stage.
"This must be Miss Wufu, right?"
Wufu was focusing on the rough material on the table when a sly voice reached her ears. Turning her head, there stood her arch-nemesis, Yu Zhen.
But Wufu intentionally put on a confused expression of not recognizing him, "And you are?"
Master Craftsman Chen, and the others, obviously knew Yu Zhen. Upon seeing him, they greeted him with a slight bow before saying to Wufu, "This is Craftmaster Yu from Thousand Treasures Tower, Master Lin’s senior apprentice."
Only then did Wufu feign sudden realization, "Oh, you’re a disciple of Mr. Lin? How is the old gentleman doing? I heard he had an eye disease; are his eyes fully recovered now?"
"Eye disease?" Master Craftsman Chen and the others were somewhat bewildered. When had Master Lin contracted an eye disease? Even when he had left, his eyes had been quite sharp!
Wufu quickly explained and Master Craftsman Chen and company drew out an elongated "oh," laden with sarcasm that didn’t escape anyone present.
"So he had an eye disease!" The craftsmen’s looks towards Wufu softened somewhat.
But the words nearly made Yu Zhen jump out of his skin.
Talking about the very thing he wanted to avoid—she was deliberately shaming his master and by extension him.
What an insolent brat!
"Master is very well, just a bit under the weather these days. Otherwise, he would have been here to engage in another round of gambling over stones with the lady," Yu Zhen gritted out through clenched teeth.
Wufu hastily claimed modesty, smiling as she said, "Isn’t there still you, his star student? I’m sure you won’t let your master’s reputation down. Oh, by the way, did you receive the words of that little beggar last night? Rest assured, as Mr. Lin’s leading disciple, I absolutely don’t believe you would resort to despicable means to order someone to steal my qualification plaque. It’s all a misunderstanding, Craftmaster Yu, no need to explain. We’ll see who’s right on the competition field, and by then, the rumors will collapse on their own."
Steal the plaque?
The crowd’s gaze turned towards Yu Zhen; had they just caught wind of some juicy scandal?
Yu Zhen almost burst a blood vessel in frustration, his eyes locked onto Wufu.
Such shamelessness!
It was clear she had just been speaking with a sparrow-like creature, yet she claimed he didn’t need to explain, effectively blocking any response from him, a sly and shameless devil of a girl!
Hearing Yu Zhen grinding his teeth, Wufu innocently smiled sweetly, asking, "Craftmaster Yu, tell me, does this stone contain jade?"
Hmph, it’s to make him mad on purpose, to make him furious. So, come on, bite me!
