Chapter 212: Chapter 212 Lady Li the Blacksmith
After feasting at Xianyun Tower, Wufu and Liu Jin were both stuffed and walked out the door, patting their bellies.
"Miss, are we going shopping now?"
Wufu, without a care for her image, rubbed her belly and said, "No rush, let’s find an inn to stay in first, then we can slowly take a stroll later."
Liu Jin nodded in agreement.
They randomly picked an inn which had different classes of accommodations: upper, middle, and lower. The lower class room, a large dormitory-style one, would cost sixty or seventy Wen per person for one night, while a middle class room was over five hundred Wen. Wufu opted for a middle-class room, which was private and even included hot water for bathing.
"Miss, I can just stay in the lower class," Liu Jin suggested, seeing that she had booked only one room.
"Stay in lower class? We’re only here for one night, sharing a room between the two of us is fine," Wufu said.
However, Liu Jin’s face turned red as he hesitantly said, "Miss, men and women should not touch each other; how can we share a room?"
Wufu was taken aback for a moment, then laughed, "You little brat, how old are you to be called a man?"
Liu Jin stood firm, "Boys and girls don’t sit together after seven years of age, and I’m seven this year, which could count as nine according to traditional age reckoning."
"Fine, there’s no need for all that fuss with me. We can talk about it again when you’re really nine," Wufu chuckled. In her heart, she simply regarded this little kid as a younger brother.
Liu Jin still wasn’t willing to comply, so Wufu had to scare him with the Flower-Picking Thief, "What if I stay in a room by myself and the Flower-Picking Thief sneaks in? What would I do then?"
Liu Jin turned serious and quickly changed his stance, "Then I will share a room with you, Miss, and I will keep watch at night."
Wufu couldn’t help but burst into laughter and pinched his cheek affectionately, feeling warmth in her heart. The child was showing concern.
After resting for a while following the drop-off of their luggage, Wufu asked the innkeeper for directions to a place that sold weapons and set off to find it.
Usually, a Blacksmith Shop is the best choice for weapons; a skilled blacksmith can craft exceptionally fine weapons.
The innkeeper directed Wufu to Li’s Blacksmith Shop, located in West Street Willow Tree Alley.
Upon arriving at Li’s, Wufu looked up to see just a large cloth sign with ’Li’s Blacksmith Shop’ written on it—quite simple indeed.
"What do you want to buy?" a woman’s voice asked.
Looking over, Wufu saw a burly, big-boned woman with dark skin and a rough appearance watching her.
Wufu paused, looking around to confirm that it indeed was a Blacksmith Shop. But why was a woman running it?
The woman seemed to discern what was on Wufu’s mind and said indifferently, "Li’s has been passed down in my family. I’m now in charge, known as Lady Li."
"Did you make all these?" Wufu pointed at the various knives, as well as iron pots and other items on display.
Before Lady Li could reply, a coughing sound was heard. She quickly turned around to find a sickly man with a Bamboo Hairpin in his hair, wearing a blue cotton robe, stepping out from behind a curtain.
"Young Master Duan, you haven’t recovered yet, why are you out here? Go back and rest," Lady Li said, anxiously supporting the man.
The man referred to as Young Master Duan, however, shook his head excitedly, "My dear, I’ve thought of an improvement for this crossbow. Look here, if we add a groove, it should increase its power."
Lady Li glanced at it and said, "Let’s talk about that later. Right now, you need to go lie down," as she tried to help him indoors.
Young Master Duan dismissed her hand and, turning red upon seeing Wufu, said, "No need for you to help me. We have a customer; you take care of her."
"She’s not in a hurry," Lady Li flatly ignored Wufu and adamantly helped Young Master Duan inside, his nattering still audible from outside.
"Is this... is this how they do business?" Liu Jin was stupefied.
Yet Wufu was amused, finding Li’s Blacksmith Shop genuinely interesting.
