Don’t Mess with that Turtle
Chapter 157 - 157 25 Call Sister_1

157: Chapter 25 Call Sister_1 157: Chapter 25 Call Sister_1 This swamp was vast like the ocean, yet beneath the waters were clustered mountains and hills unlike the flat seabed.

The merpeople built their fortresses upon these mountains, cultivating aquatic plants and herding shoals of fish and sea beasts.

The houses of the merpeople resembled yurts or igloos, with domed roofs and arched, protruding doors.

But that was not the only type of dwelling; some merpeople chose to live within the underwater mountainsides, carving their homes directly into the rock.

Within, bright pearls shone, making the dwellings seem from the outside like the high-rise buildings of a previous life.

The merpeople were rather unique, all possessing cultivation levels, yet they chose to reside in humble dwellings akin to those of ordinary mortals.

Su He lay prostrate on the altar, while the other merpeople had scattered—the welcoming ritual wasn’t overly complicated, but the mermaid priestess, realizing something was amiss with Su He’s status, quickly sent the others away.

She was now trying to remove the layered turtle shells from his back.

After a complex ritual, the mermaid priestess bowed reverently, “The calamity has been resolved, please Divine God Armor, return to your place!”

The turtle shells on the Turtle Shell began to tremble as if ready to take flight.

It worked!

Su He was overjoyed.

This piece of Turtle Shell was extremely powerful, capable of pinning the Spirit Clan Stepping Sky to the ground and grinding it down.

It just consumed too much energy.

The Dragon Turtle True Essence Condensing Liquid was still manageable, with over fifty drops in reserve.

But his Divine Sense was nearing depletion.

His Sea of Consciousness had shrunk to the size of a small pond.

If the Turtle Shell didn’t come off soon, Su He felt he’d be going under.

He wondered if this world had an Underworld?

The Turtle Shell trembled and floated up, as the white jade color faded from Su He’s body, reverting to black jade, and a flash of disappointment crossed the mermaid priestess’ eyes.

It’s not white…

Black might exude dominance, but white was certainly more beautiful.

It was like their Divine God, seven parts domineering and three parts delicate.

Truly a picture of heroic elegance.

The priestess was not the only one disappointed; the floating Turtle Shell also seemed averse to the black Dragon Turtle, hesitating in mid-air as if about to fly away.

Yet it suddenly turned back and with a snap, settled back onto Su He’s Shell.

The color that had just restored quickly turned to white jade once more.

Su He: “…”

With a helpless expression, he turned to the mermaid priestess, who looked back at the Turtle Shell with utter confusion.

Bowing once again, she entreated, “Please Divine God Armor, return to your place!”

The White Jade Turtle Shell moved slightly, then settled back into stillness—not as if wanting to leave, but rather seeking a comfortable spot to rest indefinitely.

“Please Divine God Armor, return to your place!” the priestess said once more, correcting her demeanor.

The Turtle Shell stopped moving altogether, as though completely fused with Su He.

The priestess fell silent, and Su He met her gaze.

After a long pause, she finally said, “The Sovereign Divine God’s aura is present on your body, attracting the Divine God Armor to cling.”

Could this Dragon Turtle be a descendant or kin of the Divine God?

“What should we do then?” asked Su He.

It wasn’t as if he could regurgitate all the Turtle Beads and Turtle Element he had absorbed.

He couldn’t do that!

How could he vomit out what had already been digested into flesh?

He looked at the mermaid priestess, her face etched with worry.

Blowing a bubble, he was at a loss for a solution; if he couldn’t figure it out, this swamp would become the final resting place for both Dragon Turtles.

It was indeed fortunate!

Pacing back and forth, the priestess suddenly looked up at Su He, “Sovereign God, there is a place where the aura of our Divine God is stronger.

If you go there, you will surely be able to remove the Divine God Armor.”

“Where?” Su He looked up.

“The resting place of our Divine God—the Dragon Turtle Cemetery!” For the strength of the aura, what place could surpass the tomb of the Divine God?

But the Dragon Turtle’s Great Tomb…

Since the burial of the Dragon Turtle, the merpeople had not revisited it, not even the priestesses who performed rituals from afar.

This Dragon Turtle, however, was kin to the Divine God and had eradicated the Sealing Land.

The Turtle Shell on his back was the cast-off skin of the Divine God.

It could not remain unremoved!

“Where is it?” Su He asked, not bothering with false modesty.

What use was there in pretending when one was on death’s door?

He’d find the great tomb, return the Turtle Shell, and offer incense and flowers.

The mermaid pointed upwards, and following her gesture, Su He saw that the sunset, not yet fallen, spread a fiery red across the sky, illuminating the clouds.

“The clouds?” Su He was astonished.

With a solemn face but a hint of pride in her eyes, the priestess confirmed, “Indeed, Sovereign God, the resting place of our Divine God lies within the clouds.”

Su He was taken aback.

How mighty my Turtle is!

Thankfully, the Dragon Turtle does not adhere to the tradition of burial in the ground.

But I hope if one day I too should die, I’d prefer burial over floating in the sky or cremation.

“Please wait, Sovereign God, I shall go prepare the Flying Boat,” the mermaid priestess bowed and took her leave.

These merpeople seemed unable to fly.

It was unknown what Boundary Status they held, but it probably wasn’t very high—otherwise, they wouldn’t have struggled with even the sealed Spirit Clan.

Without the Dragon Turtle, the merpeople’s progression was slow.

Among his three hundred merpeople, barely one reached the Demonic Realm.

Su He had only waited a moment when a bamboo raft swiftly approached.

Feng Yaya ran excitedly atop it.

“Big Turtle, Big Turtle!

Look who this is!” she said as she pulled along a red-dressed young girl.

Su He glanced over.

“Chou Nu’er?” No, that wasn’t right!

The resemblance was uncanny, and the aura almost identical, but with the Turtle Shell on his body and phantom Dragon Horns emerging from his head, Su He’s senses were heightened to the extreme; even the slightest discrepancy couldn’t escape his detection.

This wasn’t Chou Nu’er, could they be twins?

The mermaid priestess bowed to Su He and invited him onto the bamboo raft.

With a push of the pole, the raft gently drifted towards the white clouds.

“You needn’t be surprised, Sovereign God,” she whispered to Su He.

“Jade awoke the ancestral bloodline, hence her appearance is such.

Rumors say this is the visage of the ancient Mermaid Empress.

Miss Yaya’s Chou Nu’er must be the same.” This generation of merpeople was indeed lucky; to witness the rare awakening of ancestral bloodlines twice in a thousand years was extraordinary.

It was unfortunate that Jade was guarding the tomb of the tribe here, wasting such exceptional bloodline.

Chou Nu’er on the other hand, seemed favoured by fate, having followed a Divine God early on.
