Suzhou City was bustling with activity.
With a bamboo hat, Su Huanian strolled through the city.
Although a light gauze concealed her true face, one could easily tell from her sculpted figure that she was a genuine fairy.
But a strong air of Sword Intent kept people from daring to approach her, especially after a huge stone at the city gate was split by a single sword strike, indicating the fairy had thorns.
She wandered through the streets with great interest, finding everything novel.
This Illusion Realm must be formed by the subconscious of the Dragon Turtle, but the Dragon Turtle had never left Qingyuan, yet such a city could be conjured.
Is it the memory inheritance of the Dragon Turtle?
Was the ancient period a world like this?
The day Su’s Martial Arts Center was destroyed, Wind Not Easy, who bore a striking resemblance to Feng Yi Ju, came riding a horse, and Su Huanian could no longer hold back.
She killed him on the spot with a single sword strike.
Wind Not Easy was merely a commoner, unaware of the methods of cultivators.
Though his acting was masterful, the vengeful spirits of the martial arts center lingered around him, clearly implicating his involvement in the incident.
Upon soul searching, the truth was as expected.
Wind Not Easy knew Su Huanian despised him, so he planned to repay kindness with malice.
His father, originally a rebel, went into hiding after the rebellion failed and met the old man while wandering the world.
They had weathered several hardships together, which led to an arranged marriage for their children.
Now a top imperial scholar, he thought highly of himself and wanted to take the fairy into his household.
So he contacted his old followers to have them assassinate Su’s Martial Arts Center, then he ‘happened’ to pass by on his way to visit his father-in-law, ‘coincidentally’ saving him.
But what he did not expect was that Su’s Martial Arts Center was not unworthy of its reputation, and once the fighting started, it was no longer under control.
He even had the audacity to come forward with a look of shock on his face.
Su Huanian would be doing him a disservice if she did not kill him for that expression.
The Illusion Realm formed by the Dragon Turtle’s consciousness was quite unique.
In the world of the Illusion Realm, there is cultivation; the Taoists have Dragon Tiger Mountain, the Buddhists have Leiyin Temple, yet many sects respectfully follow mortal emperors.
Could it be that in ancient times, cultivators had to obey the decrees of mortal emperors?
To execute the top imperial scholar in the streets, the outcome was predictable.
The Court has Qintian Supervision, which specializes in dealing with cultivators.
Su Huanian had been wanted for several months.
She could kill a few Qintian Supervision cultivators with a backhand strike, but using too powerful magic would cause this Illusion Realm to collapse.
So she concealed her figure and traveled through the Mortal World.
The flow of time in the Illusion Realm is different from the outside world; several months here are but a moment outside.
Ya Ya can’t be rushed.
Suzhou City was very prosperous, and there was no shortage of people seeking the path of immortality.
Even beast-headed demons mingled among the crowds, and while people were afraid, they weren’t terrified, with the braver ones even daring to do business with demons.
The demons here really do not need to consume Demonic Fruit to transform.
If a beast can tap into the spirit and wisdom of heaven and earth and embark on the path, it has the opportunity to take on human form.
It is unknown whether the Dragon Turtle has the desire to become human, or if the ancient times were truly like this, as inherited in the Dragon Turtle’s memories.
Cultivators in the city also pay considerable attention to mortals, at least not recklessly deploying their Divine Sense, refraining from investigating simply because mortals are unaware.
Su Huanian found herself somewhat fond of such a well-ordered city.
If there truly were such a city, acquiring a small courtyard and living there in seclusion with Ya Ya would be quite pleasant.
Of course, Ya Ya would surely bring along that turtle, but that wouldn’t be unbearable.
Cling-clang, the crisp sound of a camel bell rang from behind her.
Su Huanian turned her head and saw a large black turtle following her, looking at her with its head tilted, its eyes brimming with joy.
Around its neck hung a bell, and its shell was adorned with various decorations.
The only thing missing was a stele engraved with “This turtle has an owner” on its back.
There was no helping it; a minor demon wherever it went was at the bottom of the pecking order, for fear of being subjugated and exorcised by others.
The leopard wasn’t a bad sort; he thought of a way, procured all sorts of adornments, and dressed up the turtle as if it had a master.
Sure enough, it encountered no trouble along the way.
A few times it was stopped, but upon discovering that the turtle’s aura was pure and it was not a wicked demon that preyed on humans, it was registered and allowed to proceed.
The current Court still seemed to be just and uncorrupted.
“You’ve awakened!” Su Huanian asked softly, looking at him.
“Upon waking, the ice sculpture in the courtyard had melted, and you were not there, so I came looking for you,” Su He replied, feeling a bit guilty.
For some reason, he always felt that although the person in front of him was clearly Su Huanian, he seemed like a completely different person, every gesture, every frown, every smile, having matured over the winter.
His voice clearly became more pleasant, yet it carried an increasingly intense chill.
Was it because of what happened with the martial arts center?
Su He didn’t know how to offer comfort.
A vendor passed by.
“Candied hawthorn!”
“Ice candied hawthorn!”
“Hey!
Give me a skewer, the sweetest one you have!” Su He threw two copper coins.
The money was stored in a small space magic artifact inside a camel bell around his neck, a gift from the white leopard, for reasons unknown.
The coins were something Su He had picked up from the bottom of the lake, where there was a sunken ship filled with uncountable treasures of gold and silver.
The vendor wasn’t afraid of the Turtle Demon, it seemed that many demons who entered the city lusted after food.
Instead, he started a sales pitch: “Fellow Turtle friend, won’t you buy a skewer for the Fairy?”
Su He glared: “Turtles don’t eat hawthorn!”
He conjured a small hand made of water to hold the candied hawthorn and sent it to Su Huanian—after this winter’s hibernation, he had suddenly mastered many skills, and this ability to control water was among them.
Su Huanian stared at the candied hawthorn for a moment.
Since childhood, he had received Immortal Swords, Magic Treasures, Pill Medicines, and equipment, but this was the first time for a candied hawthorn.
For a moment, he was at a loss.
But the little water hand had already dissipated, and the candied hawthorn fell, with Su Huanian instinctively curling his fingers around the bamboo stick.
“Eat quickly, it’s going to melt soon.
Actually, the best time to eat candied hawthorn is in the winter, it’s not the season for it now.”
Su Huanian didn’t move.
Su He blinked: “Is it because I’m watching that you’re too embarrassed to eat?”
“Should I turn around?”
Su Huanian laughed lightly.
“Or how about you come onto my back?
Only a little one has ever sat on my shell, you’re the first… huh?” Su He blurted out before suddenly halting.
After saying it, he realized that ever since he had been transmigrated and living in that big lake, Su Huanian was the first person he met.
Why did he always have the feeling as if there was a little one often sitting on his shell?
Did he dream a nightmare during this hibernation?
Yet Su Huanian gently laughed and with a light move, he climbed onto the Turtle Shell, sitting with his knees bent to one side.
The Dragon Turtle still cherished Ya Ya, even though his memories were sealed by the trial, some habits were inescapable.
She took off her conical hat, revealing a face as beautiful as the moon, instantly drawing gasps of admiration from the street.
Su He held his head high, walking proudly on the street.
Su Huanian gently bit into a candied hawthorn, watching Su He’s proudly raised head, his eyes glinting with understanding.
So this was the choice of the Dragon Turtle?
Cultivators facing the emotional trials could deal with them in two ways, through severing emotions or through Melt Love.
The path of cultivation, Transcendence, Demonic transformation, Stepping Sky.
Demonic transformation in seven steps, including Heaven’s Heart, Human Realm, with two Boundary Status realms of soul-searching.
Heaven’s Heart requires shedding human desires to comprehend the divine, while the Human Realm requires returning the seven emotions and six desires back to the true self.
It’s easier to enter Heaven’s Heart by severing emotions, and simpler to enter Human Realm through Melt Love.
Though each has its strengths and weaknesses, neither is superior.
It’s just that experiences in this life will no longer be the same.
The Dragon Turtle had subconsciously chosen the path of Melt Love, not wishing to sever this naive affection, but to continue it through the Illusion Realm.
This is why he instinctively proposed marriage, shared the pear, and made the ice sculpture…
Su Huanian extended his hand, pushing the external memories deep into the sea of consciousness, only allowing the memories of this Illusion Realm to surface.
He would accompany him on this journey, but even this version of Su Huanian would not harbor affections for a Turtle.
Ultimately, the Dragon Turtle would simply enjoy an unrequited love.
However, the path of love is not necessarily about being together in life and death.
It is complete in its own right to have once liked and then to have ended.
Striving for it is what matters.
