Chapter 1412: Chapter 1409 Mrs. Wellington is so angry! (Extra 1)

"You..." Mrs. Wellington reached out regretfully, but it was already too late to stop her.

"You... who told you to hang up! How could you possibly have our Joan’s number, I want to speak with her, call her back right now!"

Even when in need, this noble lady was still used to commanding.

Lily, however, wouldn’t allow her to have her way, putting the cell phone back in her bag right in front of Mrs. Wellington.

"Wasn’t it Mrs. Wellington who just told me to hang up? Why the change of heart now? It was you who said, ’You, do, not, want, to, answer.’"

"I... I didn’t know it was our Joan’s number!"

Mrs. Wellington was somewhat frantic, realizing that if she had known the person behind that call was her long-lost beloved daughter, she would have never spoken to Lily Redington that way.

Thinking of her daughter, Mrs. Wellington’s tone softened a bit, "Miss Redington, how do you know our Joan? And where did you get her number from? By the way, you seemed quite close when you talked to her just now, are you good friends with our Joan? If you are, could you please persuade her..."

"Mrs. Wellington, you’re asking too many questions, I can’t remember them all." Lily interrupted her lightly, her beautiful eyes smiling shallowly.

"You..." Mrs. Wellington realized that Lily was deliberately making it difficult for her.

She was about to explode with anger but, thinking of her daughter, she had to hold back her temper, "Okay then, Miss Redington, have some water first, take a break and then we can talk."

Lily nodded, ungraciously taking the beverage from the table.

After taking a few sips and resting for a moment, she regarded Mrs. Wellington nonchalantly.

"Joan and I are good friends, we’ve known each other since just after I married Aidan Lucas over five years ago."

"But the one who married Aidan Lucas more than five years ago was Lily Gray..."

Mrs. Wellington said, stopping suddenly.

She looked up at Lily Redington in front of her, carefully recalling Lily Gray’s appearance.

The more she looked, the more she felt that the woman in front of her, whether it was her eyes, nose, or her expressions and smiles, seemed more natural than that Lily Gray from her company.

"You mean to say... you... you are Lily Gray?!"

Lily nodded non-committally.

"Then who is Lily Redington?" Mrs. Wellington still had doubts.

"Of course, that’s also me." Lily spoke indifferently: "Whether Lily Gray or Lily Redington, both are me. I was merely acknowledging my ancestry and changed my surname, but some people seized the opportunity in the process."

Mrs. Wellington’s seductive eyes flashed sharply.

She had intentionally brought that pitiful, husband-abandoned ’Lily Gray’ back into the company.

One reason was that she couldn’t stand seeing the first wife being bullied by the mistress, and secondly because she knew Joan was on good terms with Lily Gray.

It turned out, her kindness had backfired, leading her to be tricked by the fake Lily Gray!

"But why should I believe what you’re saying is true? Just because you say the person on the phone is Joan, should I believe it? Unless you let Joan speak to me."

Mrs. Wellington was no pushover and quickly found an excuse to make Lily give in.

But Lily just smiled, took her cell phone out of her purse.

She unlocked the screen, opened WhatsApp, found Joan Wellington’s contact, and dialed.

Immediately after, a voice very familiar to Mrs. Wellington—a gentle and delicate voice—came through the phone.

"Mom, it’s Joan, do you miss me? I... I miss you so much. By the way, the person in front of you is the Lily I told you about, she came to talk to you about brother’s matter. Skye is a good person, mom, let her and brother be together."
