"No need to thank me, no need to thank me." Oscar Winston mumbled, and seeing William Griffith’s sullen handsome face, he couldn’t help but feel amused.

Failing to persuade her, Cherish Turner made to leave. But as she turned, she couldn’t help but glance at him. William Griffith seemed petrified, perfectly still. She finally turned her head, walked to the corner, and hailed a cab. As soon as she got into the car, Oscar’s words echoed in her head: "What are you to him now? Yannis Griffith lowered his voice, whispering in her ear, "If you want to go to France with me, just go along with it."

Upon hearing this, Sophie Wood was happy to cooperate as long as it meant getting away from her father’s watchful eye. She cheerfully celebrated the early birthday. Besides, there was nothing to lose and there were gifts to gain.

"Knock, knock-," the door resounded. Yannis Griffith hurried to open the door. "She’s here."

As soon as the door opened, Cherish Turner was in view.

"Big Brother, Cherish Turner is here," Yannis Griffith announced deliberately. Cherish Turner smiled at Sophie Wood, "Happy Birthday."

On the bedroom balcony, William Griffith stood alone, smoking a cigarette, as if contemplating something.

But why couldn’t he say the words he wanted to say out loud?

He was too selfish!

How could he dare ask her, ’Is he good to you?’ If not, ’how about we get back together?’ after she was married?

After finishing a cigarette, William Griffith crushed the butt in the ashtray. Leaving the ashtray on the edge of the balcony, he turned and walked towards the brightly lit living room. The sudden bright light stung his eyes. His gaze swept over several individuals in the living room, but he didn’t spot her. When he turned, he realized that she was in the kitchen, helping Hailey Griffith prepare food. Her petite figure, clad in an apron and beaming with a soft smile, aroused an intense sentiment in him.

This girl should belong to him!

No matter if she’s already married, she has had a child with him!

"Second Young Master Griffith, who are you sneaking peeks at?" Sophie Wood turned to find William Griffith stood unmoving, staring intently at the individuals on the balcony, and furthermore, the man whom she captivated.

It’s time to say goodbye.

As soon as she uttered those words, William Griffith snapped out of his trance, his handsome face slightly stricken.

But in a short while, all the dishes were prepared.

A few woks of stir-fried dishes and hot pot, all sizzling hot, suited the day perfectly. A group of people gathered around the table to eat. Sophie Wood pulled out a digital camera from her bag and said she wanted to take photos of them all, "In the past, only my parents, the housekeeper and servants would celebrate my birthday, this is refreshing for such a crowd of people. Let’s take pictures."

Hearing that, everyone let her snap photos.

Sophie Wood took many interesting pictures such as Yannis Griffith and sister Hailey joking, Hailey and Yannis fighting over meatballs, and ... William Griffith continually watching Cherish Turner. William Griffith was drinking when he was choked by her words, coughing.

William Griffith looked up to see Cherish Turner looking at him. He took the tissue in his hand lightly, without using it. He quietly ate, never uttering a word. The others having a joyous time seemed to have nothing to do with him until he heard Yannis Griffith say, "Big Brother, it’s late. You should take Cherish home."

"No need..." Cherish Turner was about to refuse when William Griffith firmly said, "I’ll take you."

Just those three words drowned out her voice. His strong assertive attitude left her unable to refuse.
