Chapter 562: Chapter 561: Family is Most Important
Cherish Turner didn’t say anything and quietly listened until May finished. She slowly raised her head, only to push the check back to her. In a soft voice, she said, "Madam Griffith, I don’t need the money. Actually, without me saying anything, he will go see the chairman. They are family, please don’t worry. Madam Griffith, I’ll be leaving now."
Cherish smiled, got up, and left the place politely.
Looking at the check, May seemed to realize something was wrong, and though her lips moved, she never said anything in the end.
The weather in July was really beginning to heat up.
Cherish walked silently on the street, thinking about the novel she had read by Zhang Ailing: To meet someone among the millions of people and among the endless wilds of time, not a step too early or a step too late, just the right encounter.
William, I met you - and I’m just grateful, with no regrets.
Whatever the outcome may be between us, I think I won’t ever have any regrets in the future.
As the days went by, it seemed that nothing had changed. Cherish and William still saw each other, and they still loved each other.
On this day, with Yannis away and William attending a temporary meeting, Cherish had to find a restaurant on her own for dinner.
As it grew dark, the neon lights began to flicker.
She saw a small restaurant offering special Cantonese cuisine with a thriving business. Through the glass windows, she could see that it was fully occupied. Cherish thought the restaurant must be good, and without giving it more thought, she walked in. The waiter showed her to a table for two, surrounded by a group of people.
Cherish took out her phone and sent a message to William, telling him the location of the restaurant.
After about half an hour, William finally rushed in. As he entered the small restaurant, his tall and straight figure immediately drew attention. His gaze swept coldly around, finally settling on a certain spot. Cherish waved to him, signaling she was there.
As William walked over to her, Cherish stood up and took off his coat, then folded his shirt sleeves as well.
This seemed to have become an unspoken understanding, no matter where they were.
Cherish had asked the waiter about the restaurant’s specialties before ordering some dishes. Once they arrived, they started eating. They hadn’t ordered too many dishes, just five in total, which they would pack up to take home if not finished. He always ate in silence, and not much sound was heard. After swallowing the food in her mouth, Cherish suddenly looked up and said, "William, how is Old Master Griffith now?"
"Hmm," William replied, evidently not wanting to elaborate.
Cherish actually often heard about Robert Griffith’s situation from Senior Yannis. She heard that he was safe and sound, but not in a great mood. Today, when Madam Griffith invited her for coffee, Cherish had a vague guess as to why, and now she was even more sure.
Cherish gave him some food and said, "Go see him."
These days, he was almost always visiting her every day, and during the day, he was busy with company matters. He must not have visited Robert.
William took his time chewing his food and didn’t say anything. Cherish filled a bowl of soup for him, smiled, and said, "People say that having an elder in the family is like having a treasure. The elderly are like children, and it’s good to indulge them a little. When I saw Anthony Turner sick and not recognizing anyone, I thought that as we had only just become acquainted, we wouldn’t have any feelings for each other. But I was wrong; I really do care about him. So, you must definitely care more about your grandfather, right? For my sake, please spend some time with him, all right?"
William put down his chopsticks and stared at her for a long while before murmuring quietly, "No matter what you do, he won’t accept you."
Cherish gently held his hand, feeling the warmth of his large palm. "I just hope that you won’t have any regrets. William, in this world, family is the most important."
Yet this statement, like a stone thrown into the heart’s lake, caused William to pause momentarily.
