Chapter 532: Chapter 531: Foresight
Cherish Turner saw Daniel Peacock; he looked different than before, radiant and glowing, as if something good had happened.
"Cherish Turner," Daniel Peacock called her.
"Can you leave William Griffith?"
These words were unpleasant to Cherish’s heart; no matter who said them, even Daniel Peacock had no right.
She remained silent, expressing her inner resistance.
Daniel only said, "What’s so good about being with him? He won’t be the same William Griffith soon."
Cherish never understood the meaning of these words, but after hearing them, she decisively left.
Recently, the company was busy with a new project, and the preparations for the exhibition with the partner company were almost complete.
On a bright afternoon, the lobby of a five-star hotel was already well-arranged. Guests and media arrived one after another, signing in and entering the venue. Cherish, wearing her work uniform as an assistant at the exhibition, was responsible for various trivial matters and was standing at the check-in counter, welcoming guests as the emcee.
"Hello, this way please," she repeated the same words over and over, wearing a professional smile.
At the end of the red carpet, at the entrance of the lobby, a man and woman walked in hand in hand.
Cherish looked up slowly and saw Daniel Peacock and his mother approaching. Daniel wore a dark silver suit, and the silver frame of his glasses reflected a cold, icy light. He had an elegant demeanor, like a nobleman from the Middle Ages. Mother Peacock was radiant and dazzling; she held onto Daniel’s wrist, laughing gracefully and elegantly.
The two walked calmly towards the check-in counter, and Daniel’s gaze never fell on Cherish. Instead, it was Mother Peacock who haughtily glanced at her.
"Sir, madam, this way please," Cherish said with a light smile, not feeling surprised. She had already checked the guest list when she received the invitations and knew that the Smith Clan would also be attending. Such a meeting didn’t seem so bad.
At least, her heart was at peace.
Daniel led Mother Peacock into the exhibition hall, and their figures disappeared in the crowd.
As the exhibition officially began, the loud voice of the male host faintly came from the hall through the closed doors. Suddenly, the door was pushed open, and someone walked out wearing high heels. Cherish looked back and saw Mother Peacock approaching her, obviously coming to find her.
Mother Peacock said, "I have something to discuss with you privately."
"Xiao Jiang, I’ll be right back," Cherish instructed, then left with Mother Peacock.
They arrived at the hotel’s lobby rest area, where floor-to-ceiling windows bathed the room in light. The gauze curtain blocked some sunlight, casting mottled shadows and outlining the hollow flower patterns on the curtain. The two sat down on a sofa, each ordering a drink.
Cherish looked up at her and asked softly, "What can I do for you, Auntie?"
"Cherish Turner, how come I never noticed before that you were such a scheming girl?" Mother Peacock crossed her arms, her eyes fixed on Cherish without blinking. "Always pretending to be pitiful and pathetic to win Brother Daniel’s sympathy, distorting the truth. I don’t know how you bewitched him, but he’s seen your true colors now."
Cherish merely smiled, silently not responding.
"You can live with one man, and then live with a second one. Maybe you’ve always cohabited with others before. There’s no way a casual girl like you can marry into the prestigious Smith Family, but I really feel sorry for you. It’s fortunate my son had foresight and didn’t..."
"Shut up!" Before she could finish, a deep, cold male voice rang through the air.
