Chapter 502: Chapter 501: Exclusive Coffee
The key issue at hand was the Wood Family’s $2 billion investment in the Griffith Corporation.
Although the Griffith Corporation’s operations had resumed, they faced difficulties due to the inability to access funds.
One languid afternoon, Yannis Griffith came to the office to discuss a significant project in the United Kingdom that had stalled halfway due to a lack of funds. If not injected with capital soon, the losses would be severe.
"What do you plan to do, big brother?" Yannis Griffith didn’t know exactly how much private funds William Griffith had, but he estimated that it should be around $1 billion. The problem was that the Wood Family’s investment was double that amount. William Griffith remained silent, seemingly lost in thought. Yannis Griffith lowered his gaze at the steaming cup of tea in front of him, his handsome brows slightly furrowed- it wasn’t coffee, after all.
"You stabilize the partners first. I’ll resolve the funding issue shortly." William Griffith said while smoking. Yannis Griffith nodded.
A phone call came in, and William Griffith picked up the receiver. Hayden Griffith said from the other end, "Go to the golf course in the western suburbs right now; your Uncle Wood and Miss Wood are waiting for you there."
William Griffith grunted in response and hung up the phone.
"Alright, I’ll book a ticket right now," said Yannis Griffith, getting up to leave. Just as he was about to step out of the office, he ran into Cherish Turner, who was bringing in some documents. She smiled brightly upon seeing him, and he momentarily froze before flashing a smile back. With one glance, they brushed past each other.
William Griffith noticed the subtle interaction and watched her approach. Cherish Turner placed the documents on the table and said softly, "President Griffith, this is an evaluation report on the losses of Griffith Corporation in the past few days. Please take a look."
"Get the car ready immediately."
"Yes."
"And you don’t have to change my coffee," William Griffith looked over at her, causing her face to tense up. Confused, she listened as he coldly said, "I don’t like other people drinking the coffee you make."
Something stirred inside her heart, causing a slight panic.
William Griffith’s cold face was vaguely visible through the smoke.
After getting the car ready, Cherish Turner accompanied William Griffith to the golf course in the western suburbs.
Cherish Turner gazed out at the scenery through the window of the car, recognizing the way.
She had been there before and even remembered the plum tree that was once wagered as a bet.
"Chip, roll up the car window!" His sudden shout startled her. Cherish Turner saw the tiny gap in the window completely blocked by the rising glass. The cold wind was instantly cut off, leaving only a faint sound of the wind to be heard.
When they arrived at the golf course in the western suburbs, they each went to the clubhouse to change clothes.
Cherish Turner changed into a loose-fitting navy-blue golf shirt with orange buttons, her pants rolled up to show a bit of her shins. As she came out of the dressing room into the hall, William Griffith emerged, having changed his clothes as well. They saw each other almost simultaneously; he wore a casual shirt with a plaid jacket. Cherish Turner noticed that his outfit was less somber than his usual business attire, the colors more lively.
A caddy was already waiting up ahead, seemingly ready to start a round of golf.
But was now really the time to play golf?
It seemed a bit strange.
Cherish Turner approached William Griffith and whispered, "President Griffith."
Only silence met her words as he strode out of the clubhouse, heading towards an area of the golf course in the car.
