Domineering Love
Chapter 490 - 491: Can’t Turn Back Early

Chapter 490: Chapter 491: Can’t Turn Back Early

The reporters not far behind Cherish Turner kept pressing their shutters, as if they were capturing some gossip-worthy news. Throughout, some shouted, "Miss, please turn around," "Miss, what’s your relationship with Mr. Griffith," "Is this young lady Mr. Griffith’s new love?" among similar remarks.

Cherish couldn’t hear any of the clamor.

She stubbornly tightened her lips, clenching her fists, as if holding back something, not allowing her emotions to break.

Cherish Turner didn’t even bother to look at his face, only staring at his chest and softly asking, "Why did you transfer thirty percent of your stocks to me?"

William Griffith was silent for a moment before answering solemnly, "It’s what you deserve."

Deserve? Cherish felt the urge to laugh, but why couldn’t she?

It reminded her of why their paths crossed in the first place — a contract, a transaction. He had never cared for her, and she shouldn’t have taken it seriously. But what about later? Was that fake too? Why did he treat her well? Why did he ask if she’d be his girlfriend? Why did he make her feel like the happiest person in the world?

Cherish’s entire body trembled. She bent down to pick up her crossbody bag, her trembling hands hastily unzipping it and pulling out the contract. Her grip so tight that the paper was crumpled and marked, she said, "Take your contract back! I don’t need the shares!"

"What? You think this is humiliating you?" William Griffith retorted, his eyes filled with deep resentment.

"I don’t need it!" Cherish furrowed her brows angrily, about to tear the contract in her hand.

William was quick to react, reaching out to grab her wrist. His grip was so strong that it made Cherish almost cry out in pain. He sternly scolded her, "Refusing won’t benefit you. Having money is better than not having any. You should be smarter! Your pride will only make you foolish and unable to survive!"

"Take the shares and give me peace of mind!" His casual tone made Cherish feel like he was dismissing a penniless beggar.

He just wanted peace of mind. Cherish felt suddenly powerless, as though something was choking her. She squeezed out three words, "Let me go."

William’s cold, handsome face remained expressionless, but his fingers slowed, finally releasing her hand.

Cherish took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but couldn’t. She gripped the contract tightly, the corners of her mouth curling as she said, "Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Griffith. You’re right, having money is better than not having any, and people should be smarter."

"That’s a good girl," William said in a deep, indifferent tone.

Good girl, that’s what he always called her.

She clenched the contract, her restraint turning into indescribable words. One question was buried deep in her heart. She finally looked up, her beautiful eyebrows furrowed and her eyes as bright and clear as the moon. His handsome face was imprinted in her vision, like an unerasable painting.

"You said not to let me be sad. Was that a lie?" Cherish asked stubbornly, her voice choking on the last word.

William Griffith’s black eyes suddenly lost their luster, his thoughts wandering.

Cherish lowered her head and walked slowly past him.

William’s eyes widened, quickly turning around and taking a few steps to catch up with her. He blocked her way again, narrowing his hawkish eyes, trying to hide his panic, "I’m giving you one last chance! You can go back and stay by my side!"

Go back to what? What did she have to go back to?
