Domineering Love
Chapter 474 - 475: She Needs Me

Chapter 474: Chapter 475: She Needs Me

He had always been quiet, and Chloe Turner knew that. But the apple juice in her hand felt a bit sour. In her memory, William Griffith would never touch sweet food. He disdained anything with a hint of sweetness and wouldn’t touch it, no matter how much she begged him.

But now, there was juice in his refrigerator.

Chloe sat rigidly for a while, attempting to break the deadlock. "William, your phone broke. Didn’t you buy a new one?"

William responded with a silent "hmmm," and exhaled a puff of white smoke.

"How about I go with you to buy one now?" Chloe put down the juice cup on the coffee table and looked at him with a proposal.

"No need," he replied indifferently.

"How can you not need one? It’s so inconvenient without a cellphone," Chloe said in surprise. Everyone needed a cellphone in their daily life; nobody would leave home without one these days.

William lowered his head, his gaze deep and still. "It’s the same with or without one," he said quietly.

Chloe’s smile froze at the corner of her mouth, and his handsome face held inscrutable emotions. It was as if there was a layer of fog between them. She didn’t understand the meaning of his words, but vaguely, she felt as if she knew something. Why would he say it was the same without one? Was it because of someone in particular? What had happened that he could even give up using a cellphone?

"William." Chloe spoke softly, restraining her trembling voice. "Did you have a disagreement with Cherish?"

The movement of him smoking paused, and William furrowed his eyebrows. His expression seemed somewhat confused, and he said softly, "I don’t know."

In that moment, Chloe felt dazed. The confusion in his eyes made her feel heartache. What caused this gap between them? Even if she didn’t want to know, she had to. Yvette Chapman’s words lingered in her ears, preventing her from continuing towards the Griffith residence. But how could she let go of that past and those emotions that she couldn’t put down?

Why must women make things difficult for other women? They all possessed fragile souls.

"William, is it because of me that you and Cherish... I just... I don’t want to... I..." Chloe’s thoughts tangled, and her words became incoherent. Panicking, she grabbed her bag, got up, and rushed towards the entrance. "I’m sorry; I’m leaving."

William did not chase after her but only said in a deep voice, "It’s not your fault."

Chloe gripped the doorknob tightly, opened the door, and ran out.

She hadn’t forgotten that on the night of the typhoon, when she hugged him tightly and pleaded with him to stay, he turned around and held her shoulder, looking intently at her: Chloe, you’re not alone. Moreover, it wasn’t you who needed me; it was Cherish Turner who needed me.

Chloe sat in the taxi, lowering the car window halfway.

The hot wind blew on her face, causing a pain as if being cut by a knife.

Cherish Turner had unilaterally decided to break things off with that damned man, William Griffith. From that point on, she no longer wanted to be upset over him nor demean herself for him.

In the first week after the breakup, Cherish felt that nothing had changed. She went to work, everything went well, and she handled her job well. She didn’t stay up late and didn’t work overtime. Except for having some insomnia before bed and being a bit distracted when waking up, everything else was genuinely fine.

On the weekend, Cherish washed everything she could, as if she was trying to remove traces of someone. She brought everything to the rooftop to dry. Looking at the bed sheets, duvet covers, and pillowcases under the sunlight, with the scent of laundry detergent, her heart felt like a vast, clear blue sky.

But wasn’t blue a melancholic color?
