Chapter 472: Chapter 473: No Crying Allowed
"Since it was you who took him to the hospital, during this time, you have to make sure he’s safe and sound. We’ll put our relationship aside for now, Cherish, you need to take responsibility."
Upon hearing his unreasonable words, Cherish Turner suddenly felt exhausted. She had experienced similar situations before and was fed up with it.
"Lewis is your son. I did what I was supposed to do. I called you, but you didn’t answer. What else could I have done, William Griffith? Can’t you find another way rather than resorting to blackmail every time? Do you find it amusing?"
Cherish’s words left William stumped. Indeed, there were many things he hadn’t explained to her.
After saying her piece, Cherish turned around and left, not giving him any more opportunities to speak with her.
Some things might not have a resolution, but parties involved know when to back away.
William watched Cherish leave and fell into deep thought.
The Haicheng Bay Resort project was finally settled.
These past few days, William had stopped coming to the company.
In the back garden of the Griffith family’s villa, Robert Griffith and Madam Griffith were enjoying the shade and drinking tea under a newly built flower trellis.
The lush garden gave a refreshing feel as the early summer breeze blew through. Suddenly, footsteps were heard, and both Robert and the old lady turned their heads to see William approaching them. The old lady smiled gently, put down her teacup as if to leave.
Just as the old lady was about to get up, William said, "I’ll only talk for a moment, and then I’ll go. You don’t need to leave."
She stayed in her seat quietly upon hearing his words.
Robert’s mouth was clenched around a pipe, his left hand held a purple clay teapot, while old eyes stared at William, waiting for him to continue. William stood by his side and indifferently said, "The Haicheng Bay Resort project has been completed."
His words sounded like he was saying goodbye. Robert scoffed, "What, are you leaving? Going back to the United States?"
William didn’t respond to his question but simply said, "I’m going to see Hailey."
Robert was extremely dissatisfied with William’s constant indifference and curt responses. As soon as William left, Robert angrily spat out the words, "Unacceptable!" He slammed the purple clay teapot onto the table, picked up the pipe, and walked in the opposite direction. Madam Griffith quickly got up and tried to pacify him, "Calm down, sir. Be mindful of your high blood pressure."
Hailey was packing her things in her room. Going abroad was something she had not discussed with her family yet, but she felt she could no longer stay in this city.
Looking at the same sky, her heart would always think of someone who was out of reach due to the longing.
Seeing her like this made William feel uncomfortable. He stopped Hailey from packing and looked at her.
"Are you going abroad with Edward Smith?"
Hailey didn’t say a word.
"Does Sam Turner know you’re leaving the country?"
This question clearly made Hailey feel cornered: "Who said my going abroad has anything to do with Sam Turner? Why should I tell him?"
William’s hawk-like eyes stared unblinkingly at his sister.
If it truly had nothing to do with Sam, why would she go abroad?
"This is my own business. I am an adult and have the right to decide for myself."
"Fine, but don’t come home crying."
Hailey bit her lip, unsure how to respond for a moment.
