Chapter 460: Chapter 461: Bound to Lose Undoubtedly

After staying at the Turner residence for a while, Cherish was planning to leave. She didn’t mention anything else, just that she had to return to work. Mother Turner asked Daniel Peacock if he could give Cherish a lift, as it was hard to get a cab in the area, and she was worried about Cherish being late. Daniel agreed, so Cherish got in his car.

During the journey, Cherish checked her bag and realized she had left something at the Deep Wave Mansion. Due to the heavy wind and rain, she had no choice but to ask Daniel to take her back to retrieve it.

All the way, Cherish had a silly thought in her head – what if he was waiting for her there?

It wasn’t until they reached the alley entrance that they could go no further.

Cherish hurriedly thanked Daniel and opened the car door to get out.

Daniel also got out of the car and called out to her, "Cherish!"

Upon hearing his voice, Cherish turned to look at him. She saw Daniel walk around the car with a bag in his hand and hand it to her.

"What is this?" Cherish asked curiously.

Without explaining, Daniel grabbed her hand and forced her to hold the bag’s handle. Cherish looked down and saw it was a sweater coat that Mother Turner had put in her bag in case she got cold. Meanwhile, Daniel’s gaze inadvertently glanced behind her, as if he had seen something, before slowly returning to her.

"Thank..." Cherish started to say, but Daniel suddenly cupped her face and kissed her forehead. "You’re welcome."

Cherish was taken aback for a moment, her eyebrows furrowing as she shot an angry glance at him. "Don’t do that again, please!"

"Go get your things quickly, I’ll wait for you here." Daniel wasn’t upset, just reminding her as he watched her walk into the alley.

Cherish walked back to the building, noticing the overturned trash can at the corner and rubbish scattered on the ground.

There were countless cigarette butts along the way, soaked in puddles.

The car stopped opposite Demon Manga.

Daniel stared ahead, speaking slowly, "I’ll bet with you that he won’t come looking for you again."

Cherish tightly gripped the strap of her bag, pressing her lips together, not speaking. After a while, she finally whispered, "I don’t make bets."

Daniel’s mouth curved into a smile, hitting her weak spot. "Because you’re afraid to lose."

"Thank you for the ride, goodbye." Cherish opened the car door, and as she was getting out, Daniel said, "I don’t need to bet to know the outcome, Cherish. You’re bound to lose! In the end, he’ll still return to Chloe Turner, because he can’t get over that hurdle in his heart."

These words, "bound to lose", made Cherish quicken her pace and rush towards the building.

At the office, Cherish only heard her colleagues discussing the sudden storm that hit the night before. The clear weather after the storm seemed to bring more pleasure. Yet, in Cherish’s world, a storm had raged for an entire week.

His phone remained off during work hours, so Cherish called Grace Harper. In a brief call, Cherish asked about him. Grace smiled on the other end of the phone, telling her that President Griffith had just come to the office, but he had probably left again, as the project negotiations were nearing their final stages.

Upon hearing this, Cherish merely responded briefly before hanging up.

The first thought that came to her mind was that, thankfully, he was safe and sound.

Although he hadn’t contacted her during the stormy weather, she found herself amusingly thinking that at least he wasn’t in danger. Wasn’t such a feeling laughable and pathetic?
