Domineering Love -
Chapter 458 - 459: Is It True
Chapter 458: Chapter 459: Is It True
The sky was pitch black, with lightning and thunder flashing across the night sky, the interwoven beams of light terrifying to behold.
Daniel Peacock opened the car door, shielding Cherish Turner with his tall figure as she got in, before getting in the car himself. He handed her a box of tissues without speaking a word, and Cherish softly thanked him, taking it. The car quickly drove away, Cherish looking at the rearview mirror, afraid that he would appear at any given second.
Or maybe, he would not appear again.
The sky was raining, but it seemed as if her heart was going to rain too.
Cherish came out of the bathroom and quietly put her phone into her pocket.
His phone was already off.
It turned out that there was a leak in her house, and Mother Turner wanted to call her daughter for help. However, she met Daniel Peacock at the entrance of her neighborhood. He quickly fixed the leak, so Mother Turner politely invited him to stay for dinner. Thinking about it, Daniel decided to pick up Cherish and bring her home as well.
After dinner, Mother and Father Turner quickly excused themselves, leaving the space to the young people. If William Griffith was unreliable, then maybe it wouldn’t be bad for Cherish to reconnect with Daniel Peacock. In any case, for Mother Turner, it would be enough to have one man willing to love and cherish her daughter.
On the television, an old drama was playing, telling the story of a brother and sister who were mistakenly held by the wrong parents since childhood, falling in love in the end but unable to be together. People who had watched it knew the plot, as did Cherish naturally. Daniel Peacock wasn’t too interested in this kind of drama that young women liked, but since Cherish enjoyed it, he patiently watched with her.
On the large LCD screen, after learning the truth, Eunice and Alfred walked together on the tracks, which seemed endless. Eunice said to Alfred, "Brother, if there is a next life, I want to be a tree."
Alfred asked, "A tree?"
Eunice replied, "Yes, a tree. Because once a tree is planted, it won’t move and won’t be separated from its family."
Cherish stood behind them, tears suddenly welling up in her eyes.
She had a ridiculous thought.
If there were truly a next life, she would want to be a tooth.
If he lost it, William would probably feel pain, right?
But if he lost her, would he feel pain?
On that stormy night, the Korean drama showed Eunice and Alfred eventually parting ways during their childhood.
Little Eunice ran back to her old home from school, struggling to catch up with the Mercedes-Benz driving away, carrying the people she loved the most - her father, mother, and her once closest brother. But Little Eunice ultimately didn’t get to see them for one last time, and standing in the tunnel, she couldn’t help but cry like rain.
Sitting dazedly on the sofa, Cherish watched the drama coming to an end. Like Little Eunice in the show, she too didn’t receive the phone call she had been waiting for, and she couldn’t help but tear up.
Her tears hovered, and she took a deep breath, not allowing them to fall.
"It’s getting late; let’s go to bed," Daniel Peacock said in a deep voice.
Cherish slowly stood up and followed him out in silence.
Daniel stood to the side outside the parlor, waiting for Grace Smith to go upstairs. After she went, he turned his gaze back to Cherish, whose eyes were red from crying. As she was about to walk past him, he said, "It’s just a drama, don’t take it so seriously."
