Chapter 454: Chapter 455: Only Say It in the Heart

Then, he saw a man in the car, and a child who looked somewhat familiar, resembling Little Lewis.

Where was Cherish going with Little Lewis, and whom was she meeting? He suddenly felt uneasy.

Chloe Turner noticed that he put the cigarette back into the pack without taking a puff and saw no change in his expression. Assuming nothing was wrong, she reminded him, "Smoking is bad for your health, you should cut down."

William Griffith grunted in agreement, not saying much more.

"William, did you know? Your brother Yannis truly is an interesting person. Today, he even told me a joke that was really funny. Let me tell it to you..." As though searching for a topic, Chloe Turner supported her cheeks with both hands, smiling as she recounted the joke Yannis had told.

However, William Griffith seemed distracted, his gaze fixed on her eyes as though trying to see through her. To her dismay, Chloe Turner couldn’t see her own reflection within them. She could feel the odd suffocating atmosphere, clearly perceiving even the most subtle of changes.

Perhaps she’d sensed the change since they’d returned, but she stubbornly wanted to cling on to something.

In a blink of an eye, all the dishes were served. Picking up her chopsticks, pretending to be oblivious to the situation, she declared with determination, "The food looks delicious. Let’s eat."

Only after she spoke did William Griffith pick up his chopsticks.

Still, they ate the meal without tasting a thing.

After dinner, Chloe Turner suggested they go to a night market. William Griffith somberly replied, "Not tonight, it’s getting late. I’ll take you home."

Hearing this, Chloe Turner’s smile faltered, but she tried to maintain it as her heart stiffened. As they drove through the bustling street, she cracked the window open, feeling the gust of wind rush past her. Sneaking a glance at him, she took in his handsome profile and the frowns that appeared without his notice.

The night market was always bustling.

As they walked, they saw an assortment of street food stalls.

Simple lemon-yellow light bulbs hung from gigantic umbrellas without shades, large enough for four or five people to sit and dine beneath. The umbrellas existed primarily to create ambiance on rainless nights.

"Your fried noodles are here!" A young man called out, rushing two plates of fried noodles to a table.

Cherish Turner was about to pick up her chopsticks when a pair were offered in front of her. She smiled and accepted them with a "Thank you.".

"There’s no need to be so polite," Daniel Peacock’s voice was warm and unadulterated, like the pleasing notes of a piano. His refined demeanor seemed out of place at a street stall eating such humble fare. Despite this, his calm and collected expression made others around him feel at ease.

Cherish snapped her disposable chopsticks apart and began eating while speaking, "Thank you for taking Little Lewis back today, Daniel."

"Oh, I just happened to run into you guys. How come William’s child is in the hospital? I saw you struggling with the child, and we’re friends, so don’t be so formal," Daniel Peacock thought to himself that getting closer to Cherish was always good. As long as she needed him, he would be by her side.

"He must have been affected by the heat during the sports event. Fortunately, he’s fine now," Cherish explained.

"William’s own child, and he doesn’t take care of him? Didn’t you contact him?"

How could she not? She just hadn’t been able to reach him.

These words, Cherish Turner could only say in her heart.
