Chapter 449: Chapter 450: Not Telling

Yannis Griffith carried her back to the bedroom and covered her with a blanket.

Almost immediately, Yannis Griffith returned to Griffith Co.

Yannis burst into the vice president’s office and said in front of the big desk, "Miss Chloe Turner is sick, you should go see her."

William Griffith didn’t even look up, responding emotionlessly, "It’s working hours right now, and I have a meeting soon."

The phone rang at that moment, and William pressed a button. The secretary reported from the other side, "President Griffith, everyone has arrived."

"Got it." William hung up the phone and stood up to leave.

Yannis stared at William’s departing figure, unable to suppress his anger any longer. The secret hidden in his heart could no longer be concealed, and he sneered, "Cherish Turner is such a fool! The most thorough fool in this world! How could she fall in love with a heartless man like you? One day, will you treat her like this too?"

At those words, William’s steps faltered slightly, and he looked back at Yannis indifferently.

The two stared at each other, neither speaking for a while.

Yannis’s angry face suddenly quieted down, and he somberly said, "Chloe Turner told me her father had an accident."

As the city’s party secretary, Father Turner had been involved in a corruption and bribery case, which led to the mining accident that caused so many casualties. Facing a huge crisis, Father Turner sent his subordinates to take Chloe away and even lied to her about his car accident. Upon hearing the news, Chloe didn’t think twice and immediately left with her subordinates, which is why she suddenly left while still engaged to William.

"Why didn’t she tell me? She could have told me!" William questioned with a fixed gaze.

"How could she tell you? If her father’s charges were established, do you think the Griffith Family would accept her?" Yannis’s eyebrows furrowed as he spoke in a deep voice.

Indeed, they wouldn’t—an idea proven by the Griffith Family’s decision to save themselves after the mining accident.

"Later, she wanted to come back, but she realized she couldn’t."

William furrowed his brow, remaining silent as Yannis continued speaking.

Yannis smirked and said quietly, "Because... she was ill."

If it hadn’t been for Yannis telling him five years later, William might never have known the real reason Chloe left. He even clearly remembered how they had agreed to go to an exhibition together the day before. However, the next day, she never showed up—from morning till night, until the exhibition ended and the venue closed. Her phone was off and she wasn’t at home.

It wasn’t until three days later that William learned from a schoolteacher that Chloe had gone abroad.

As for which country and which school she was studying at, the teacher refused to tell William.

Chloe left, so suddenly and abruptly.

She didn’t leave any information or even a single note, disappearing completely.

So, everything was because of this.

Although William didn’t have strong romantic feelings for Chloe at the time, he had seriously considered accepting her. Now, however, knowing all this filled him with regret.

Some people were just not meant to be. Still, leaving her now would be too unfair, wouldn’t it?

At five o’clock in the afternoon, Cherish left work and arrived at Griffith Tower. Instead of entering, she stood outside the building. She took out her phone and called him. When he answered, she laughed and asked, "Oliver, where should we eat today? Or should we go home and cook ourselves?"
