Chapter 443: Chapter 444: Some People Don’t Need to Wait Any Longer
"I’ll have my secretary pay a visit." William Griffith said indifferently before turning to leave.
"Big brother, if you haven’t settled your past, how can Cherish follow you wholeheartedly?!" Seeing his futile attitude, Yannis Griffith could not suppress the volcano in his heart. For Cherish Turner, he decided to take good care of the girl named Chloe Turner. At least, he wanted to know the extent of her relationship with his big brother so that he could protect Cherish properly. So, he had no choice but to suppress his anger and watch William leave silently before rushing to the hospital himself.
In the hospital room, with the doctor’s permission, Chloe Turner was about to be discharged.
Yannis Griffith came in with a large bouquet of lilies and handed them to Chloe, saying nonchalantly, "I happened to pass by a flower shop and bought a bouquet casually. Miss Turner, congratulations on your discharge."
"Thank you." Chloe took the bouquet and sniffed the scent of the flowers. She was not wearing makeup, and although she was beautiful, the naturalness made her look somewhat pale and weak because of her illness. Yet, she seemed to be in good spirits as if nothing could bring her down.
After going through the discharge procedures, Yannis Griffith drove her home.
Upon arriving home, a hired housemaid had already cleaned the apartment and cooked a meal. After eating, Chloe laid down on the sofa and read a book. The housemaid cleaned up the dishes and brought out a bag from the kitchen, asking with a smile, "Miss Turner, this bag of sugar fell on the floor, and I picked it up. Do you still want it?"
Chloe looked at the bag of candy with sad eyes.
Yannis Griffith was no fool; with one glance, he knew the candy was from his big brother. Such an alluring gift was not out of character for him.
"Of course not, throw it away!" Yannis said immediately, and the housemaid turned to discard it.
"Wait!" Chloe interrupted, her gaze shifting from the book to the bag of candy in the housemaid’s hand. It was the candy William had bought for her. She had only eaten a few pieces, leaving more than half of it. Seeming somewhat absent-minded, she said softly, "Give it to me."
"..." Yannis shouted, fearing she would faint like she did the other night.
"This was given to me by William. I want to keep it safe." Chloe squinted her beautiful eyes.
The bag of candy returned to Chloe’s hands, one piece after another, wrapped in colorful packaging. She didn’t eat it but put the candies into a glass jar on the coffee table like pretty decorations. Yannis noticed several times she would become lost in thought while looking at the jar of candy. Before leaving, he pondered and said, "Miss Turner, do you really like my big brother so much? Cherish is already by his side, and he likes her very much. Why should you do this? Some people are not worth waiting for."
Chloe was startled but didn’t say much else.
Little did she know when the candy on the coffee table would expire and rot.
Cherish Turner noticed something off about William Griffith, as he seemed unhappy these past few days.
Since he wouldn’t talk about it, she naturally didn’t know why.
It wasn’t just William Griffith who was unhappy; she discovered Grace Harper seemed unhappy as well. After Demon Manga took over the joint project, Cherish Turner had more contact with the Griffith family. She went out of her way to invite Grace Harper to lunch one day, but Grace was somewhat cold, which greatly bothered Cherish.
