Chapter 398 - 398 399 Stay Away from Him

Chapter 398: Chapter 399: Stay Away from Him Chapter 398: Chapter 399: Stay Away from Him “Goodbye, Hailey, Miss Hall.” Seeing Yannis Griffith’s car drive up first, Cherish Turner stooped to bid her farewell. She got into the car and gently smiled and nodded at them. Through the rearview mirror, she spotted a black Maserati pulling up, she withdrew her gaze, refusing to look again.

William Griffith’s gaze was fixed coldly on her.

Yannis Griffith clearly saw it too. Yet, he got into the car, deciding to drive Cherish home.

Once in the car, he asked in a deep voice, “Are you tired?”

“It seems so,” Cherish softly replied with a smile.

“Then you should rest. I’ll wake you when we arrive,” Yannis Griffith sympathetically suggested.

All that Cherish gave was an “hmm”, before she turned to gaze out the car window. A myriad of neon lights sprawled across the coastal city, reflecting a somber face back at her.

So, they had known each other for a long time. True childhood friends, innocent of the world.

Cherish, that’s a part of the past you’ll never touch.

His world, is occupied by a girl named Emma Hall.

Soon enough, Cherish was dropped off in Cherry Blossom Garden Community by Yannis. She thanked him and without lingering, went in. Whatever Yannis wanted to say, he couldn’t. He thought to himself, wait a bit longer, just a bit longer.

“Knock knock knock—” Shortly after reaching home, someone was knocking at her door.

A man came directly from the 9th floor to her door.

Cherish burrowed herself under the blanket, refusing to get up and answer the door. She knew who was outside and chose to disregard him. Covering her ears, she didn’t want to hear the knocking. It was only when the knocks ceased and the world quieted again did she let go. She thought he had left.

After a long while, a message came through on her phone.

The message was from “boss”, briefly stating — I’m outside.

It took Cherish a long moment to register the message, her eyebrows knitted together. She knew of his stubbornness – if she didn’t open the door, he would certainly wait outside all night. After ten minutes of silence, she couldn’t help but put down her phone, get up and open the door. The moment the door opened, she was met with the stinging smell of cigarette smoke.

As expected, William Griffith was standing outside. His tall figure blocked her view. He had a cigarette in his hand, silently smoking.

A slanting light cast on his face. He turned his head slowly and looked at her. He tried to push the door open, but she didn’t let go. All she said was, “I want to sleep.”

“How could you go there?” William asked from outside.

Cherish felt a twinge in her heart. She calmly replied, “Just happened to be bored.”

“So you went with Yannis?” William asked in a deep voice, his indifferent tone carrying a hint of hidden displeasure.

Cherish lifted her head to look at him. Her voice was soft, but her answer was firm, “Yannis is a good friend of mine, he’s also my senior.”

William took a drag from his cigarette, exhaled a ring of smoke, and muttered, “He’s a man, and he has Grace Harper. Don’t tell me you’re not aware that he likes you.”

“So?” Cherish laughed and retorted back, “Stay away from him,” he said narrowing his gaze, speaking in an unhurried yet firm manner.

Hearing him say this, Cherish found it somewhat amusing. Her hand clenched harder against the doorframe. With her eyes unusually bright, she reiterated, “Yannis is my friend.”

William stared at her for a long while, not uttering any more words before he turned and left.

Cherish closed the door. His departing figure finally disappearing from her sight.
