Chapter 388 - 388 389 Ill Chase You First
Chapter 388: Chapter 389: I’ll Chase You First Chapter 388: Chapter 389: I’ll Chase You First Cherish Turner looked up at the computer screen and saw Oscar Winston in all his dashing glory, with a pair of charming peach blossom eyes that sparkled with intelligence. Amidst the laughter, there was a wise composure that could turn the tide. He was, without a doubt, a king. Oscar was surrounded by countless reporters, calmly walking towards the waiting van and departing with confidence.
The female host was discussing his brilliant achievements, and all of it was indeed astonishing.
“How can a lawyer be this handsome!” Vivi muttered beside her, her eyes shining.
Cherish smiled slightly, without saying much.
When she woke up that day, she had learned from the waiter that Oscar had already left with his companion. Only now, upon watching the news, did she realize how famous Oscar was.
As one of William Griffith’s friends, he felt so distant.
“Buzz buzz—” The phone vibrated on the table.
Cherish picked up her phone and saw the familiar name—William Griffith.
She answered the call and softly said “Hello.”
“Hungry,” William uttered two words in a low voice.
“Order something for yourself to eat,” Cherish said helplessly, frowning at his childishness.
Over the phone, William responded with an “Oh”, and before hanging up, asked, “Did you eat?”
“I ate,” Cherish replied with a smile, and he hung up the call.
For several days, he had picked her up from work, and they had dinner together, held hands while walking. He escorted her home, and then went back by himself. They’d call each other every day and text too. Her call history and inbox were all filled with him. Even his messages were brief and without punctuation.
It seemed a bit familiar—like how Lewis used to send her messages.

Recently, William had been very busy and needed to go to the United States frequently. Cherish didn’t know how significant the matters were or what they were about, but she knew he would be back soon, and her heart felt much calmer. When he left, she didn’t send him off. William and Oscar departed together.William had a 10 o’clock flight to the United States that day. He had been overseeing everything remotely and instructing his subordinates there. Now it seemed he had to take care of things in person. Cherish naively asked, what kind of matters are they?
“For instance, signing contracts requires face-to-face involvement,” William whispered in her ear, his breath warm, “Just like with you…”
Hearing his low mutterings, Cherish blushed and pushed him out of the apartment.
William called her before boarding the plane. At that moment, she was at work in the office with several documents in her hands, feeling dizzy from the workload. His call interrupted her busy schedule but brought her a sweet sense of annoyance. She told him, “I can’t take personal calls during work hours.”
She could almost picture his frowning expression in her mind, raising the corner of her lips and smiling faintly.
Over the phone, amid the boarding announcements, his deep voice suddenly rang out, “Cherish, wait for me to come back obediently. I’ll be back soon.”
“Yes, I know,” Cherish gripped the phone tightly, her heart skipping a beat.
“I love you.”
Because of that simple, three-word phrase, it felt as though the Earth had stopped rotating and her heartbeat had frozen.
The sudden “I love you” was the most beautiful language in the world.
“When I mentioned having a relationship as lovers last time, I was serious. I’ll pursue you first.”
He thought, they should start a romance in which he would make Cherish fall in love with him once again—truly and deeply.
