Chapter 381 - 381 381 I Cant Sleep Alone
Chapter 381: Chapter 381: I Can’t Sleep Alone Chapter 381: Chapter 381: I Can’t Sleep Alone At ten minutes past midnight, the temperature was slightly lower than during the day. The chilly wind blew against her face, making her shiver. Suddenly, someone draped a suit jacket over her shoulders, instantly providing warmth. Cherish Turner turned her wooden head and saw William Griffith’s handsome and resolute side profile, devoid of any emotion, his eyes deep and dark.
“Wear it.” William Griffith drawled, taking a drag on his cigarette.
“Thank you,” she whispered, gathering the coat around her. His jacket draped over her body was far too big, making her look like a little girl who had stolen an adult’s clothes.
“It’s getting late.” William Griffith said indifferently, suddenly getting up and making to leave.
Cherish Turner became a bit anxious and blurted out, “Tomorrow is Saturday, so we don’t have to work. It’s okay. Let’s…” She paused, then said softly, “Let’s chat for a while longer.”
William Griffith looked back at her and murmured, “It’s very late. I need to sleep.”
Why did this conversation sound so familiar?
“I can’t sleep alone,” Cherish Turner blurted out, clutching her potted plant tighter in her arms, stammering. Her mind was filled with scenes from the movie they just watched, fearing that a zombie might suddenly emerge and bite her as she went upstairs.
Her parents were already asleep at this hour. If he didn’t accompany her upstairs, she’d have to go up by herself, and the Cherry Blossom Garden’s staircase was notoriously dimly lit…
William Griffith said nothing more, so Cherish Turner awkwardly ventured, “Your ninth-floor apartment hasn’t been sold yet, so why don’t you stay here tonight?”
A glimmer of depth and cunning flashed in William Griffith’s eyes as he asked casually, “And will you join me?”
Cherish Turner lowered her head even further and bit her lip, saying, “Of course I’ll be in my own room.”
“Well, then I’d better go back to Deep Wave Mansion and stay with my son.”
“…” Bad guy!
As William Griffith was about to leave, Cherish Turner grabbed his arm, her slender fingers tense with anxiety and unease. Not daring to look up, her fair neck flushed a little red. She blushed easily, and her shy demeanor was very alluring, wielding significant destructive power.
William Griffith stared at her for a moment before uttering a few words, “Do you really want me to stay here?”
She remained silent.
“Alright then, you can keep me company in my room first, or forget it.”
This time, Cherish Turner nodded her head like a pestle, desperate for his company.
With the weight lifted from her heart, Cherish Turner quickly led the way to William Griffith’s ninth-floor apartment. She confidently entered, took slippers from the cabinet for him to change into, and fetched two clean towels for him. Then she returned to his side and said, “You go shower first. I’ll make the bed.”
William Griffith took the towels and entered the bathroom.
The glass door closed and the sound of rushing water filled the room.
When William Griffith came out after his shower, a warm quilt lay neatly on the bed. The crisp sheets looked cozy and inviting. Cherish Turner was holding the blanket, and when she turned her head, she saw him bare-chested with only a towel wrapped around his waist, covering the important parts. His muscular physique was strong and athletic, causing her to stare for a moment before quickly averting her gaze.
“You… Why aren’t you wearing clothes?” she asked.
“I’m selling the house, so I’ve already packed up some things, and I don’t have any pajamas,” William Griffith explained as he sat down on the sofa, staring at Cherish Turner with a raised eyebrow, his gaze deep and captivating.
