Chapter 374 - 374 374 I Do

Chapter 374: Chapter 374: I Do Chapter 374: Chapter 374: I Do She froze all over, hearing his unusually grave male voice, “If nothing had happened, would you be willing to go to the United States with me?”

She lightly responded with an “Mm,” but it was resolute.

“Just tell me if you would or wouldn’t,” he demanded that she give a precise answer.

Cherish Turner tightened her grip on her clothes, wanting for the first time to grasp at something, as her trembling lips uttered words that sounded as though they didn’t belong to her.

“I’m willing.” Amidst the bustling airport, the two stood back to back, a meter apart, as she said those three words.

Cherish did not dare to turn around; even she was surprised by her own declaration.

I’m willing.

She actually said it.

Announcements echoed through the airport, “Dear passengers, the flight to New York, United States will take off at 9 p.m., and boarding will soon end. Passengers who have yet to board, please head to the boarding gate immediately… ”

Seeing her still standing there in a daze, William Griffith started walking away.

Cherish’s eyes widened as she abruptly turned around, only to see him walking away, getting further from her. His cold, indifferent words carried through the air, resonating in her ears. She watched him disappear around the corner of the automatic door, his figure no longer visible.

The sky was pitch black; the Sea City night seemed particularly enchanting.

In such a night, people may lose themselves.

Amidst the vast darkness, an airplane took off from the runway and flew high into the sky.

Cherish didn’t know how she had walked out of the airport or how she had made it home. Upon returning to her Cherry Blossom Garden apartment, she opened the door with her keys and collapsed on the sofa, feeling utterly drained.

Her heart felt cold.

It wasn’t the type of cold you’d feel after drinking iced water on a winter’s day, nor was it the chill of physical discomfort.

It was unbridled helplessness.

“I understand.” After she said those words, he spoke coldly.

That’s all there was—no other words exchanged.

William Griffith’s cold, chillingly handsome face lingered in Cherish’s mind, impossible to erase. At 9 p.m., he boarded the plane to New York, the United States, without further ado. He simply walked away—no looking back and no hint of lingering affection.

Cherish let out a long breath and told herself that nothing had happened. She had only wanted to tell him that there was a reason she hadn’t gone that day. That was all.

As she glanced at the clock, she was startled to see that it was already 10 p.m.

Reminded of the fact that she had to go to work the next day, Cherish changed into her pajamas, hastily finished her nightly routine, and went to bed.

However, she just couldn’t seem to fall asleep.

In the darkness, she curled up into a ball, as though doing so would keep the sadness at bay.

Closing her eyes, Cherish tried not to think, but thoughts raced through her mind regardless, as she couldn’t help feeling disappointed and melancholic.

That night, Cherish had a long dream in which she chased after William Griffith, but he never stopped, seemingly forever out of reach, infuriatingly elusive.

She didn’t know exactly when, but at some point, Cherish had woken up in tears. In the middle of the night, alone in her bedroom, she embraced her quilt and sobbed silently…

As she cried, she cursed—William Griffith was the most shameless bastard in the world! And the most thick-skinned one too! If he had already decided to leave, why did he have to treat her like that on the cruise…

But alas, her cries reached no one’s ears.
