Chapter 269 - 269 269 I Will Bear It with You

Chapter 269: Chapter 269: I Will Bear It with You Chapter 269: Chapter 269: I Will Bear It with You As for what exactly happened, William Griffith would figure it out himself, but he couldn’t accept the way his family was treating Cherish Turner.

He solemnly pulled Cherish over and said, “No matter what happens, I’ll be by your side, and I’ll bear any consequences with you.”

Upon hearing this, Cherish couldn’t help but shed tears. Actually, when the incident first happened, she was worried about something happening to Grace Harper, not that she was afraid of how the Griffith family would treat her. She knew that this was something she had to take responsibility for, whether it was intentional or not.

Now, William’s attitude made her feel touched and warmed. Despite still being unable to escape from her guilt, she was grateful for having this man by her side to comfort her.

No one probably cared that, after the incident took place, Cherish had been in so much pain and agony.

William was also aware that his grandparents must feel uncomfortable about the situation. Although they now had Lewis, big families like theirs were never satisfied with having too many members. Moreover, the child Grace had been carrying was Yannis’s, who was known for his fickle temperament. Whether or not he finally settled down with Grace because of the child, now with the loss of their baby, their relationship had become even more uncertain.

Still, addressing Cherish, William asked, “Is Grace still receiving emergency treatment?” At this moment, he didn’t have the mood to talk to his family properly, especially since his grandmother’s slap had made him uneasy.

Cherish nodded, tightly grasping William’s clothes, looking extremely nervous and fragile.

“Go and rest first. I’ll watch over things here. Will you do that?”

Cherish shook her head. Grace’s condition was still uncertain, and though she had not been saved yet, the injury at the back of her head and the blood she had lost could still be dangerous.

“Grace will be fine. I won’t let anything happen to her. Just listen to me.”

William’s attitude towards Cherish made the elders in the family feel uncomfortable. Robert Griffith couldn’t help but speak up, “No matter what, she is involved in this. If you let her leave to rest now, what would Grace think?”

The old man tried to suppress his anger, not wanting the situation to escalate further since his wife had just slapped a girl.

“Grandpa, don’t you see how scared she is? She’s also a girl who’s encountered such a situation for the first time, and she didn’t do it on purpose. Although I can’t justify her actions just because it wasn’t intentional, shouldn’t I also have the right to care for someone I’m concerned about when you all are worrying about Grace? As I said, whatever the result is, I’ll bear the responsibilities. So, can’t you give her some space now? Is it really the Griffith family’s way to treat a girl who is equally frightened by this accident with such hostility? If so, I must say I resent this approach!”

William’s words left Robert speechless, unable to deny the truth in what he had said.

However, the old lady was furious, her emotions spiraling out of control. After all, she had always cherished Yannis, her grandson, so the loss of his child was indeed heartbreaking for her. How could she ever accept a girl who would force Grace to remember the pain of losing her child, all because of Cherish? She absolutely could not accept Cherish as a daughter-in-law!
