Chapter 50: Journey Begins
Chapter 50: Journey Begins
Logan’s eyes opened to the ceiling of their room.
After the event of the previous night, Logan had kept an eye open.
Granted he doubted that the assailant would make another move so soon after the first attempt had failed.
If he were being honest, he’d rather not get involved with the matter entirely, but Orion had convinced him otherwise.
Getting up, he walked out of the room while ensuring that he didn’t step on the body on the ground and the blood.
He would have to look for a way to clean and dispose of the body as well as get rid of the blood.
Heading out into the town, Logan looked for somewhere to eat.
After taking note of a couple of places, he started his search for a means to dispose of the body but found none.
He returned to the room and, much to his surprise, didn’t see either Orion or the prince, even the body was gone.
Sitting on the bed, Logan decided to wait for them.
Luckily, he didn’t have to wait for long.
Orion and the prince walked in with smiles on their faces.
"Logan, how do you feel about tutoring?" Orion asked as soon as he set his eyes on him.
"I don’t want to tutor anyone." He replied firmly.
"Come on, just tutor him on Darkness magic and I will on Earth element." Orion patted the young royal’s shoulder.
"If you don’t want to, I would understand." He spoke to Logan as he looked at the ground.
’Why does it seem as though he is scared of me or at the very least uncomfortable around me?’ Logan pondered, not knowing the answer to this question, with the constant frown he had on his face.
"You can learn magic from any person you wish to once you get back to the castle." Logan still mentioned that a part of him was unwilling to teach.
"After last night, I realized that all you said was true. If my parents cared for me then why did they send me all the way out here and not try to contact me?" Prince William asked rhetorically.
"Simple, because they want to get rid of me while making it seem like it was unexpected, and what other way other than a threat to my presence?" He clenched his fists until they turned white.
"I won’t even be surprised if it turns out that my family is the one that hired the person to kill me." He completed before kowtowing to Logan.
"If you teach me how to properly use spells and how to survive, I’ll swear my allegiance to you." He declared with his eyes to the ground.
Raising an eyebrow, Logan was in shock.
"What about the kingdom and your status as prince?" He couldn’t help but ask.
"I’ll leave it behind. What’s the point if the very heads of the kingdom find your death inconsequential?" Prince William spat out.
Smiling inwardly, Logan felt like he had been the catalyst of the prince’s possible betrayal of the crown.
"I’ll teach you what I know." Logan sighed as he ran his hand through his hair.
Orion let out a laugh as he tapped Logan’s shoulder with a wide smile.
"Now that the matter is settled, how about we get something to eat?" He suggested.
The three of them left the room to get breakfast.
Apart from the weird stares they got due to Logan carrying around a tachi, nothing really happened during their stay in the town.
"Okay, now let’s go to our destination." Logan finally brought up the reason for their leaving the academy.
"Fine." Orion groaned before taking about ten minutes ’working’ for the money they might come to use.
Without much to prepare, they returned the key to the receptionist and left, following the forest surrounding the small town to the north.
*********
In the middle of nowhere, a throne made of blood was floating in the air.
Sitting comfortably on it was the Blood Witch.
Her eyes were unfocused as though in a trance.
Space rippled in front of her and a masked figure appeared, the same one that escaped.
Her eyes slowly gained clarity as the person fell to their knees.
Letting out a gasp, the person removed their mask to show a young man who had beads of sweat running down his face.
"You swore to me that it wouldn’t hurt." His voice seethed with rage.
"Oh please. You expect me to control your body from afar through your blood and it wouldn’t hurt? Stop deluding yourself." Minerva scoffed.
"They told me that they had let him go with no guards. Did they lie?" She wondered aloud.
Looking at the young man who was still looking at her, she let out a lewd smile.
"I need something to get my mind off the edge." Her eyes fluttered seductively at the man.
In response, the man tried to run away, but it was too late.
His body paused against his will mid-motion.
Turning around with no control of his body, he could see Minerva standing from her throne.
She jumped off the throne and landed in front of him.
The red dress she had on fluttered in the wind like a scarlet tide.
Her red eyes seemed to glow slightly as she leaned in and kissed him.
—--
The Blood Witch now stood over a dried corpse- the young man.
In front of her was a large sphere of blood that rippled at constant intervals.
The sphere landed on the ground and turned into a crimson puddle.
The puddle turned reflective until Minerva could see herself with clarity.
The surface rippled until it displayed the image of a large man.
He had a scar running across his dark skin.
But rather than be intimidated, Minerva found it amusing because she was the one who gave him the scar.
Staring at the Royal Guard through the puddle, she made her demand.
"Bring the one you call King, I want to speak with him."
