Chapter 923: Chapter 924 Mobilization
"You really don’t plan to show yourself voluntarily?"
Old Wei’s face was cold as he suddenly waved his hand, and a black ring of light rapidly spread around him. In the darkness, a space twisted and revealed a spirit beast that looked like a bronze mechanical puppet. The spirit beast had a huge spherical body with mechanical limbs extending from the bronze sphere’s circular holes as if they could retract at any time. Its round head bore a naive and innocent expression, making it seem like a simple-minded mechanical puppet.
"Nierlat, there’s no need to pretend in front of me. I know your situation very well."
Old Wei spoke calmly to the feignedly naive Nierlat. The latter shifted its gaze to Feng Yuan while Old Wei let out a cold laugh and said,
"Do you think you can deceive him? Or do you believe you can beat him? Or perhaps, you plan to provoke him?"
"I didn’t expect you to notice, but then again, it is you, after all."
Nierlat spoke in a mechanical voice. Although the voice had hardly any emotion, Old Wei still detected the hidden wariness within. Veronia looked disdainfully at Nierlat. Despite its appearance as a mechanical puppet, it hardly met its aesthetic standards. It didn’t like this ancient puppet aesthetic at all.
"So many gods; Great Xia is more troublesome than I had imagined."
Nierlat said quietly as it sized up Veronia and the others. Although it knew of Agunas’ presence beside Feng Yuan, it hadn’t expected another Divine Beast of comparable strength to be following him. Plus, with those two newly born Divine Beasts, they could pose a significant challenge for Xingchan.
Old Wei stared at Nierlat for a while, seeming to sense something, and said,
"You’d better leave quickly. Otherwise, once it comes, you’re going to be in trouble."
Nierlat glanced at Old Wei and, without saying much, turned and drifted away into the distance. As for what Feng Yuan was currently doing? That was not of Nierlat’s concern, especially since it didn’t believe it had the power to handle such a formidable force.
Seeing Nierlat wanting to take the attackers away, Old Wei warned,
"They are my prey; did you ask for my permission to take them?"
Turning his head to look at Old Wei, Nierlat decisively abandoned the idea of taking the people away and vanished into the night sky with a blink. After a while, a blue-haired young man riding a vivid azure dragon, a water dragon in the shape of an Eastern dragon, charged over.
"What in the world are you up to!"
The man intended to directly reprimand Old Wei, but noticing that it was Feng Yuan who was controlling the energy ring platform at the moment, he immediately changed his approach. Scanning the newcomer, Old Wei said irritably,
"What do you think?"
"What are you trying to do, causing such a commotion?"
Delong Tower asked Old Wei curiously. It didn’t have any special feelings toward Old Wei—it didn’t despise him as the Earth Qilin and others did—and it wasn’t particularly interested in what he was up to. Whether Old Wei succeeded or failed, it made no difference to Delong Tower.
It was more perplexed by the courage Old Wei had to cause such an uproar. Wasn’t he afraid of attracting their wrath? Although it was Feng Yuan who was in control at the moment, the Tower understood the familiar power at play belonged to none but Old Wei.
"I wanted to try and see if I could harness the power of the energy ring flow, but then there was trouble at the new Tower of Oblivion."
Old Wei explained with a smile. Delong Tower asked with some surprise,
"Wasn’t that new tower their own doing? How could there be a problem?"
Shaking his head, Old Wei replied,
"I’m not sure, they probably don’t understand it themselves."
"It’s because of those people’s actions; they hid something special inside."
Feng Yuan opened his eyes and said calmly, looking at Delong Tower somewhat speechlessly,
"Didn’t I ask you to help guard Maomu City? What are you doing here?"
"What do you think? With such a disturbance, who knows what’s happening here, and you didn’t tell me."
Drudgeon glanced displeasedly at Feng Yuan and said, "You previously said you would be guarding the Fire Stronghold, but now here you are again. Although I’m aware that you came to the Ancient City of Yellow Sand, shouldn’t I pretend to be unaware?"
"What exactly are you doing?"
Drudgeon curiously examined Feng Yuan, thinking to himself that if it were Old Wei’s methods, he might recognize them, but with Feng Yuan’s methods, he really couldn’t be sure what the purpose was.
"To suppress that thing," Feng Yuan said with some dissatisfaction, "Although they don’t have the energy to cause trouble for me right now, that thing is also not easy to handle." Reaching out his hand, Feng Yuan clenched it to manifest a black scepter. With a gentle tap of the scepter, the black chains extending in six directions began to slowly retract, and the six circular platforms connected to the chains were also drawn toward the large circular platform where Feng Yuan stood.
As the platforms moved, colorful streaks of light were etched across the sky due to the platforms’ movements. The sight of the increasingly long streaks of colorful light cast a heavy mood over everyone, especially the powerful beings who could sense that the streaks of light were actually a massive energy flow; a tremendous concentration of active energy had formed that dazzling river of light.
"What... What is that?"
Qi Chen felt a little scared as he gazed at the splendid river of light in the sky. Didn’t the appearance of such an unusual celestial phenomenon mean that something big was about to happen? Dou Yanlan glanced at the Coral Pillar behind her, the object Drudgeon had charged them with protecting. They also inferred the reason for this: the blue shield enveloping the entirety of Maomu City was the work of this object, and it was likely Drudgeon’s way of ensuring that the inside of Maomu City wasn’t destroyed.
However, this object also restricted entry and exit. For now, at least, nobody could pass through that barrier to enter or leave Maomu City. Liao Yu glanced at Qi Chen and added,
"Although this thing is somewhat useful, it shouldn’t completely cut off external contact."
"Should I ask Feng Yuan?"
Qi Chen said, somewhat unsure. If they destroyed this protection and something unexpected happened afterward, they would be at a disadvantage, especially given the current bizarre phenomenon in the sky.
"That must be some special energy flow, but why has it appeared?"
Dou Yanlan pondered, looking at the sky. The object spanned the entire sky above Maomu City, including the circular platforms that had passed overhead earlier. The continuously rotating platforms seemed to be inscribed with many special characters. Could it be from some ancient ruins? But wasn’t Feng Yuan dealing with them?
"Maybe those guys created it? But isn’t this commotion a bit too big?"
Liao Yu could see that the phenomenon was only passing over Maomu City’s sky and that neither its beginning nor its destination was here. That was the problem—what exactly was the intent of something so vast, dragging such a long energy flow across such a distance?
In the high sky, a gust of wind blew fiercely, and at this moment, the circular platforms had risen close to the starry sky. The stars above seemed almost within reach. Feng Yuan, gazing at the beautiful river of light appearing in the distance, let out a smile.
"Playing like this, you’d better be careful not to get scolded."
Drudgeon warned. It had realized by now that all the active energy around it was being attracted to that river of light, and such a significant mobilization of active energy had a huge impact.
"If we don’t do this, it will probably be very difficult to deal with the Resurrectors in one go."
Feng Yuan said emotionlessly, and Veronia, momentarily stunned, looked at him and asked,
"Do you plan to take action against the Resurrectors?"
"That’s right, they’re the pawns they planted. Otherwise, the new Tower of Oblivion wouldn’t connect to such a place."
Feng Yuan’s expression was somber as he spoke, still seeming to harbor a grudge about the matter.
"Are you confident?"
Agunas looked toward Feng Yuan, who appeared to have stopped his actions as if he was waiting for something.
"Some minor minions—what’s there to be confident about? It’s just going to be a bit loud."
Feng Yuan said carelessly. Drudgeon looked at him speechlessly, not at all convinced by the term ’a bit loud’. It had no doubt that the commotion Feng Yuan was causing could alarm the entire Alliance, given the vast scope of energy mobilization. And it wasn’t just Drudgeon; even the weaker Divine Beasts would be able to sense it.
"That’s what you call ’a bit loud’?"
Agunas expressed, shaking its tail in disbelief, sensing the immense energy flow in the sky even from the Fire Stronghold. Had it not left a clone there and known the situation, it would have left Drudgeon in charge and come to check things out personally, just like Drudgeon had done.
