Chapter 894: Chapter 895 Resurrectors

"It’s quite severely damaged."

Gazing at the huge black pillar, Feng Yuan felt a headache coming on. A significant chunk of the pillar’s body was missing or fractured, and Feng Yuan could even sense that a part of it had completely collapsed at the top. There was a large gap between the two split portions of the pillar, and a golden rune chain flowed between them as if attempting to pull the two back together.

Around the pillar, golden bands of light could be seen guiding the numerous black fragments floating nearby, which had clearly fallen off the massive pillar. After a moment’s thought, Feng Yuan gently nudged Xiao Ji and said,

"Stand back for now and guard the area for me; don’t let anyone interfere. If any strange creatures appear, don’t be polite—handle them all, and make sure nothing gets past Long Boduo."

As Feng Yuan spoke, he opened the Dark Ancient Book in his hand, and a circle of golden rune circles emerged behind him, slowly rotating. Lanadi watched Feng Yuan for a moment before asking,

"So what should we do?"

"Look after your own safety; as for the rest... don’t worry about it."

Feng Yuan glanced at Lanadi as he spoke, and with a hint of perplexity, Long Boduo snorted and pawed at the black earth beneath him. He stomped fiercely on the ground, and a circle of black steles rose from the earth, encircling Feng Yuan in a protective formation.

Muttering something, Feng Yuan turned a page in the Dark Ancient Book. The text therein began to emit a slow golden glow, and chains sealing the earth trembled incessantly. It was as if some terrifying entity was preparing to burst forth from beneath the ground, with flecks of black stars emerging from the soil and ascending towards the sky.

A black column of light enveloped the massive pillar, pulling the scattered floating stone fragments back towards their original positions. Everyone could feel it—the oppressive might of the Netherworld Pillar was gradually lessening.

Agunas held a golden page cautiously and watched the surroundings. At that moment, the ground shook continuously, a rustling sound as if something was drawing closer. Veronia’s expression tightened as she glanced at the small lizard and said,

"Wait here for me."

Three golden tokens materialized beside Veronia. With a gesture towards a spot in the distance, one of the tokens shone with a golden light. A beam of that light shot towards the indicated spot, followed by an explosion that flung dirt into the air, revealing a black creature moving beneath the soil. The creature was smooth like a lump of flesh and revolting to look at.

With a squelching noise, the fleshy creature leapt to the ground, seemingly gazing at Veronia. At that time, Feng Yuan was completely absorbed in repairing the damaged Netherworld Pillar and oblivious to the events unfolding nearby.

"Attack; use the Death Series’ ultimate move on them."

Veronia instructed Xiao Ji, then waved her hand, inserting a token into the ground. Golden, sword-shaped crystals sprouted from the earth, and with squelching noises, more fleshy creatures emerged from the soil. Gladys, holding a card of the death god between her fingers, looked at Lanadi and asked,

"What do you think? Got a plan?"

With a smile, Lanadi drew her own card and said,

"I doubt I’m any weaker than you."

A cyan Flame Storm raged towards one of the fleshy creatures. Amidst the cyan flames, the creature emitted squelching sounds as it tirelessly tried to approach their location. Veronia laughed coldly, remarking,

"You think I don’t know your abilities?"

A third golden token hit the ground, and from its point of impact, a golden glow spread in all directions. The earth beneath them was completely tinted gold by the light. Xiao Ji took to the sky, let out a loud cry, and fiercely flapped its wings. Black tornadoes incessantly swept towards the squelching fleshy creatures, but they seemed to cling to the ground as if unaffected by the wind.

"Don’t use Crimson Judgement!"

Agunas warned Xiao Ji, recalling something crucial. If the Netherworld and Yin World were colliding, then using Crimson Judgement would be inappropriate. Such an ultimate move, capable of breaching spatial barriers, would only bring severe side effects in these circumstances.

"Are these the undying?"

Lanadi fiercely threw out three cards, and as they reached their target, the squelching, moving flesh monsters happened to collide with them, almost as if they intentionally ran into the cards. Gladys threw a Nether god card, and a figure in a black robe brandishing a sickle viciously cut down upon these flesh monsters.

"No, though these Resurrectors are indeed troublesome."

Gladys said with a grave expression, these creatures certainly possessed a nearly indestructible vitality, their Ultimate Moves could only strip away part of the monsters’ life force without affecting their actions.

"Resurrectors... where on earth did Lorna learn about these things?"

Lanadi bit her lip, slightly puzzled; they had information about the Resurrectors, but only because Lorna had mentioned them. Even within the Alliance, there was no related intelligence; after all, these were a specialty of the Yin World, and the Alliance did not even understand the situation in the Netherworld, let alone the Yin World.

"We can only deplete their life force, damage-based Ultimate Moves are not as effective as those like Life Deprivation, because they have no resistances."

Veronia glanced at Agunas and spoke, frankly, Agunas was much more efficient at dealing with these creatures. Simply using Time Divestiture could quickly deplete the life force of these flesh monsters.

As for damage-based Ultimate Moves? The most nauseating aspect of these flesh monsters was that the majority of their vitality was in reserve; the life force currently displayed was just a tiny fraction of it; only upon death would they consume the reserve life force to resurrect. Hence, an Ultimate Move with high single-hit damage was not as effective as one with prolonged damage over an extended period.

Little Ice Cream hopped down from Feng Yuan’s shoulder, turning a round circle on the spot, its plump head facing a flesh monster. A black Energy Sphere appeared beside the creature, continuously drawing something in from all around. The flesh monsters near the Energy Sphere quickly withered, turning to ash in a short while.

Veronia looked at Little Ice Cream with some surprise, not expecting it to have a special exclusive Ultimate Move. Although it wasn’t very powerful, it was particularly effective for special purposes. It bypassed the monsters’ traits and directly extracted a percentage of the total life force.

Yet seeing Little Ice Cream collapse on the ground afterward, Veronia understood that its move must not be casually used, or it was at least very draining.

Agunas glanced at Gladys and Lanadi and said,

"Don’t go out of the circle!"

Tossing the book in his hand, Agunas made a gesture, and a Rune Circle emerged behind him. Soon, a whirlwind of colorful crystal storms began to rage, and within the storm, all Ultimate Moves were swiftly diminished.

"Time Storm? That might work, but how many times can you use it?"

Veronia asked, somewhat perplexed; this was only the first Netherworld Pillar and Agunas was already using a big move, what about afterward?

"At least three times, then I’ll need to rest for a bit."

Agunas said, flicking his tail, then glanced at Veronia and added,

"If we continue to wait, these Resurrectors will only drain more of our strength. Better to clear them out quickly. I’m sure you have similar Ultimate Moves that can do the job."

"So you mean we take turns?"

Veronia roughly grasped Agunas’ plan; the most troublesome part of the Resurrectors was their enormous reserve life force. If they couldn’t be cleared out quickly, they would be dragged into a war of attrition, possibly exhausting their strength. Even as Divine Beasts, their nearly limitless power could lead to them being too preoccupied to take care of Lanadi and the others in prolonged combat.

"Are you saying you don’t have a suitable Ultimate Move?"

Agunas looked at Veronia with a touch of confusion; if she didn’t have a proper Ultimate Move to counter the Resurrectors, then they might face some trouble down the line.

Sweeping her gaze over Agunas, Veronia said, somewhat irritated,

"How could I not? It’s just... these Resurrectors’ strength is a bit off. Didn’t your move reveal anything odd?"

Veronia was puzzled; it seemed Agunas’ Time Storm merely cleaned up the flesh balls but didn’t reveal any hidden special creatures?
