Chapter 861: Chapter 862: Mordan’s Visitor
"Have you decided?"
The long-haired woman looked at Gladys with a touch of surprise, and Gladys, full of apologies, spoke to her.
"Camille, I’m really sorry. You know what my initial goal was. I’m afraid I can’t continue traveling with you."
Camille shrugged indifferently,
"I guessed as much when you stayed here so long. But who is it? Really that student? Will they be difficult to get along with?"
"It’s not him. It’s someone I hadn’t thought of before, but, well, it’s not bad~"
Gladys recalled Feng Yuan’s strange situation, her expression inexplicably determined, and seeing Gladys’s resolve, Camille thought for a moment while sitting in the chair and then asked,
"Have you found a good job, then? We haven’t become citizens in Great Xia; many jobs are hard to get. Or do you plan to open a Divination House here?"
"No, I’ve found a suitable new job~"
Gladys said with a mysterious smile. Camille glanced at Gladys, not bothering to ask more since she wouldn’t get an answer anyway. Standing up, Camille prepared to leave the room, and Gladys, still full of apologies, said,
"Sorry, I can’t accompany you till the end this time."
"It’s okay."
Camille said without looking back, not revealing what she truly felt inside.
"Is this it? Seems like quite an ordinary city."
At the high-speed train station, a woman with long, golden wavy hair curiously inspected the city. The surrounding travelers were stunned by her beauty. She glanced at her watch on her wrist and waved down a taxi, her Prophecy Doll appearing drowsy on her shoulder.
"Feng Yuan! Someone is looking for you."
"Who is it?"
Yawning, Little Husky rolled under the bed, perplexed, his voice rising while Veronia seemed busy inside his Mirror Realm. Glancing at the azure orb under the bed, Little Husky shook his body, returned to his original form, walked to the door, and opened it. Seeing it was his classmate Feng Yuan, he asked somewhat strangely,
"Who’s looking for me?"
"I don’t know her name, but she’s downstairs."
His classmate spoke, his eyes filled with envy. Feng Yuan yawned and said,
"Downstairs?"
He turned to glance at the dormitory. Agunas floated over to Feng Yuan’s side and asked,
"What are you up to now?"
"Nothing much, just curious who would come looking for me at this hour."
Feng Yuan spoke with a hint of confusion, completely oblivious to his classmate’s jealous gaze, or perhaps he noticed but didn’t care.
"Who are you?"
Feng Yuan looked at the blonde beauty front, her voluptuous figure and wheat-colored skin standing out in a long dress. He realized he did not recognize her.
The woman stared at Feng Yuan and scolded after a moment,
"Wasn’t it you who said, ’See you if it’s destined, and show me around this fascinating city’? But this city doesn’t seem that fascinating, does it?"
Scratching his head, Feng Yuan appeared puzzled, and seeing that he really seemed unable to recall, the woman said somewhat discontentedly,
"It’s a pity. It seems the promise to show you around Maomu City won’t work out. Isn’t that what you said, ’If we’re destined to meet again, I really want to show you around this interesting city’?"
"Just so you know, it was quite hard for me to remember that phrase."
"Lanadi?"
Agunas finally recognized who she was, and reminded by Agunas, Feng Yuan suddenly clapped his hands in surprise,
"So it’s you! But how have you changed so much?"
Feng Yuan was puzzled, as he couldn’t connect the beautiful woman in front of him to the little girl from before. Glancing at Feng Yuan, Lanadi said with some resignation,
"It’s not something I could decide on my own."
"Tsk!"
Feng Yuan sneered dismissively, and Lanadi, watching him, smiled and asked,
"Do you not intend to fulfill your promise from back then?"
"It’s just a city tour, right? But it will have to be tomorrow; it’s already getting dark today."
Feng Yuan looked at the sunset on the horizon and remarked, unsure where they could possibly go at this hour. They surely couldn’t just wander around a mall, could they?
"Tomorrow? That could work, but don’t you need to attend classes?"
Lanadi asked with some suspicion, while Agunas flicked his tail, staring at Lanadi and said,
"This guy doesn’t need to attend classes, and I don’t believe you haven’t thoroughly checked his background."
"Then, it’s a deal."
Lanadi smiled without directly addressing Agunas’s question. Seeing Lanadi turn to leave, Feng Yuan sighed helplessly,
"I didn’t expect her to actually come looking for me."
"Who asked you to not be careful? But she must not be an ordinary person, why would she care so much about something from so long ago?"
Agunas said, puzzled. To Feng Yuan and others, it was only a few days ago, but for Lanadi, those were decades, and particularly back when she didn’t understand the common language of the Divine Land Region and had to memorize the pronunciation, it was indeed very difficult.
"It’s probably because we got along so well back then..."
Feng Yuan didn’t find it strange, knowing already that among the Mordan Clan, the only one who could play with Lanadi was Little Gladys. Curious, after returning, Feng Yuan had checked on Little Gladys and was surprised to find that it indeed was the young Gladys.
After finding out about Little Gladys’s identity, Feng Yuan understood her rather strange behaviors, simply thinking he was the person from the past. However, Feng Yuan hadn’t expected that would be the old Mr. Yan. Recalling the bizarre behaviors at Lorraine Tower, Feng Yuan felt somewhat speechless.
That guy definitely knew the truth and just chose not to say it. Agunas still couldn’t quite understand it.
"Still, I didn’t expect she would actually come looking."
Feng Yuan said, surprised. At that time, he had only casually mentioned it, not expecting that she would actually remember it for decades. Agunas glanced at Feng Yuan and said,
"You didn’t think about that back then?"
"Not really, didn’t I say ’if fate allows, we’ll meet again’? Who knew it would be this ’fateful’?"
Feng Yuan was also speechless. Although it was her who initiated this, who could say it wasn’t ’fate’? Looking around, Feng Yuan scratched his head and said,
"Let’s just go pick up Xiao Ji first, then think about where to take her tomorrow for fun."
"Lanadi came looking for you? But what do you mean by asking us to join you?"
That night, in the dormitory, Qi Chen looked at Feng Yuan with a puzzled expression. He didn’t really understand what it meant when that guy asked him and Dou Yanlan to join him for a walk in the park. Feng Yuan, slightly embarrassed, said,
"Well, it just feels a bit odd to go to the park with just the two of us."
"You think bringing two third wheels will make it less strange?"
Qi Chen looked at Feng Yuan weirdly, his intention quite clear. Feng Yuan shook his head and said,
"It’s not a date, just fulfilling an old promise."
"Do you think normal people would wait over a decade for a promise, and also travel such a long distance to find you?"
Qi Chen rubbed his temples, somewhat headache-inducing. It was so obvious, even he could see the issue, yet the usually astute Feng Yuan seemed oblivious.
"What exactly do you want to do here?"
Gladys, after receiving Lanadi’s message, rushed to her guest room and asked unhappily. Looking at Gladys, Lanadi smiled and said,
"If you could find your own hero, why shouldn’t I?"
Glancing at the Prophecy Doll on Lanadi’s shoulder, Gladys sighed helplessly,
"You’re different, if you hadn’t initially..."
"There’s no ’initially.’ I think it’s fine this way, and unlike you, he really..."
Recalling the Feng Yuan impossible to foresee in the future, Lanadi felt a bit lost, not expecting she would still lose to Gladys. Casually pulling out a chair to sit down, Gladys looked at Lanadi and said,
"What exactly are you thinking?"
Smiling, Lanadi said,
"I want to fulfill the promise I made with him, and as for what happens next..."
"We can only leave it to time."
Lanadi said with some regret, Gladys stared at Lanadi for a long while, full of remorse,
"Actually, you shouldn’t have ended up like this, had you initially..."
Laughing, Lanadi interrupted Gladys, saying,
"There’s no ’initially.’ We both can glimpse the future, such assumptions are rather dull, aren’t they?"
Gladys looked at Lanadi and whispered softly,
"I thought I was already pitiful, but you..."
Lanadi smiled and did not respond. Who else but the person themselves could truly understand? And even she herself couldn’t decipher whether she was fortunate or unfortunate.
