Chapter 860: Chapter 861: The End and Return
"It’s a shame that there just happen to be Grass bees here."
Gladys chuckled upon hearing Feng Yuan’s words. At this moment, tiny orange-yellow figures appeared, buzzing around. Had she not known about the Grass bees in the village, Gladys would not have chosen the Darte Fruit.
As a fruit tree with special growth requirements, the Darte Fruit tree bears large and nutritious fruits, which are even used as staple foods in many areas. The bread-like fruit not only tastes good but is also satiating. However, because their growth and fruiting require Grass bees, they cannot be cultivated on a large scale.
"Eh? That’s true, Grass bees are rare. I didn’t expect to find them here."
Feng Yuan curiously stretched out his hand to examine the Grass bee that landed on his fingertip. Gladys smiled and said,
"The Mordan region is one of the few areas with a large distribution of Grass bees, though the overall number isn’t much, to be honest."
After several busy days, everyone worked together to plant all the fruits. Looking at the fruit orchard laden with fruits, everyone was somewhat excited. With so many fruits, at least the food supply was secured for a month or two.
"Problem solved—ready to go now—"
Feng Yuan said proudly, clapping his hands as he looked over the orchard. Agunas flicked its tail and glanced at Lanadi, saying,
"I think you still have unfinished business."
"This..."
Scratching his head, Feng Yuan looked at Lanadi somewhat guiltily. The other was staring at Feng Yuan with those watery, big eyes, revealing reluctance in the azure blue pupils. Chen Xin looked at the orchard, pondering something, while Dou Yanlan gave a mysteriously grave look to the Mordan tribespeople who were happily picking the fruits.
"What about the other tribes?"
Chen Xin whispered to himself. Even though most of the fruits here were special fruits that could be used as staple food, the quantity was still a pressing issue. The amount of fruit could only sustain the Mordan Tribe for two to three months at most.
"What does it have to do with us? This isn’t a problem we can solve."
Dou Yanlan said calmly. Although she also worried about the people from other tribes, it was only for a moment. She was clear that she didn’t have the ability to help. Without that ability, it was enough to do what was in front of her.
"That’s true."
Chen Xin smiled and glanced at Feng Yuan. If anyone could stop the impending blizzard, it would probably be him. However, judging by his demeanor, he didn’t seem interested in getting involved.
"Your prayers have been fulfilled; it’s time for us to leave."
After waiting for two days and ensuring that the greenhouse and the fruit trees were fine, Feng Yuan and his companions prepared to leave. The elderly woman smiled at Feng Yuan and the others, saying,
"Thank you for your help. If there’s a chance, we hope you will come to visit us again, an unreturnable gratitude."
Feng Yuan smiled but didn’t respond. They were travelers through time. Although there was a time loop, both Feng Yuan and the elderly woman understood very well that taking anything from this time could potentially cause serious alterations to the future.
Lanadi watched Feng Yuan with reluctance, and Little Gladys tried to appear strong as she stared at Mr. Yan, who was talking with Gladys. After a while, she couldn’t help but turn her head. Agunas wiped its paw over the book it held and said,
"Got everything? Then let’s head back."
They could have returned through the completion of the last ceremony at Shenji Rock, but both Feng Yuan and the others felt it unnecessary. After all, with the blizzard raging, the risk of going back and forth was too great. Therefore, everyone decided to let Agunas take the group directly back to the modern era.
Watching Mr. Yan disappear into the light, Little Gladys couldn’t help but run out of the crowd, dashing towards her home. Lanadi, unwilling to leave, looked in the direction where Feng Yuan had vanished and ran after Little Gladys.
"Phew—this is really exhausting."
Feng Yuan said wearily, rubbing his shoulders. Qi Chen glanced at Feng Yuan and said somewhat speechlessly,
"You were only busy for a while when building the greenhouse. Weren’t you slacking off every chance you got afterward?"
"Who says? I was working hard watching you all!"
Feng Yuan retorted unhappily. Gladys chuckled and glanced at Mr. Yan, saying,
"It was really interesting—truly an unforgettable journey."
Seeing Gladys turn and walk away, Mr. Yan frowned slightly. He felt something was off about Gladys. But he didn’t know what exactly was wrong with her. Magic Dream Bell, perched atop Mr. Yan’s head, emitted a bell-like laugh as if saying something, but since Agunas wasn’t nearby, no one could help translate its words.
Chen Xin sighed, feeling somewhat relieved. Although she hadn’t achieved her initial purpose, after understanding that Lanadi accidentally interfered with the ceremony and the specific circumstances within the Mordan Clan, she had given up her original plan. Perhaps allowing Lanadi to proceed with her predestined path was not such a bad thing after all.
Qi Chen felt lost in thought about her own affairs. Yue Bai rubbed against Qi Chen’s thigh, puzzled as to what was wrong with her. She had been looking gloomy ever since she came back.
She managed a bitter smile, bent down, and stroked Yue Bai’s fluffy head, saying,
"Shall we head back first?"
Yue Bai happily barked and circled around Qi Chen. Approaching Feng Yuan, who was saying something to Qi Chen, she said,
"I’m going to head back first. These past few days..."
"You must be exhausted too, right? Get some rest early. The real-world time is just the moment we left."
Feng Yuan smiled and said. Although their return location had shifted from Gladys’s room to a small grove behind the school dormitories, the time was still the exact moment they had departed.
With a faint smile, Qi Chen left with Yue Bai, looking somewhat tired. Dou Yanlan glanced at Cotton, who seemed eager to rest in her arms, and said with a smile,
"I’ll take my leave too. Cotton seems a bit sleepy."
"Are you tired, Xiao Ji?"
Seeing Cotton’s sleepy appearance, Feng Yuan turned his head to look at Xiao Ji, who stared back at him spiritedly, tilting its head.
"Can’t you rest properly?"
Qi Chen looked at the Little Husky sprawled on the bed with a hint of exasperation. That fellow would turn into a Little Husky as soon as he was back in the dormitory and lie on the bed, clawing at the air for no apparent reason. Upon hearing Qi Chen’s question, the Little Husky shook his tail and responded without turning his head,
"Aren’t I resting right now?"
"What’s this dog act about?"
"It’s comfy to lie down like this~"
Feng Yuan said boastfully, while Agunas glanced at him and retorted gruffly,
"Using the projection screen in that position isn’t particularly convenient."
"At least I can lie down, right~"
The Little Husky said smugly, swishing its tail. As for Xiao Ji? It had already dashed off for self-directed training on the battle field. Although Xiao Ji cared about strength, the Little Husky abruptly turned to Qi Chen and said,
"Speaking of which, it seems like registration is about to start."
"What registration? What are you plotting now?"
Qi Chen looked at Feng Yuan warily. The Little Husky yawned and shook its head, saying,
"The academy assessment registration. The assessment is in May, and after it’s over, we’ve got to clear out."
The Little Husky said with a touch of reluctance. Only then did Qi Chen realize,
"Yeah, May is almost here. I never thought graduation would come so quickly."
As he spoke, Qi Chen also felt an inexplicable sense of melancholy, although not as deeply as Feng Yuan, but still touched by a sense of loss and regret.
"What direction will you choose to develop in?"
Qi Chen asked Feng Yuan curiously. The fellow seemed capable of anything and was planning to travel after graduation. There were various Beastmaster careers to choose from, ranging from Alliance rangers to Explorers. The Little Husky fished out a dice and tossed it, saying,
"We’ll see. I don’t know which I’ll choose. What about you?"
"Me? I’ll probably just have to follow the assignment."
Qi Chen said, sounding a bit sheepish. Unlike the almost omniscient Feng Yuan, his abilities were limited, so his choices were few. He wasn’t particularly fond of military-related options and would likely have to wait for the assessment results to choose based on his score.
"Don’t you have anything you’re particularly interested in?"
The Little Husky asked, sounding puzzled. Qi Chen shook his head, placed his hands behind him to support his body, and stared at the ceiling, saying,
"No, I don’t even know what I can do in the future..."
