Chapter 856 - 857 Miracle Spring

Chapter 856: Chapter 857 Miracle Spring

"It seems you know exactly where the Miracle Spring is," Teacher Yan suspiciously observed Gladys, who was walking alongside Baby Bear. Baby Bear glanced up at Gladys discontentedly from time to time, annoyed that she kept poking its head when it wasn’t looking.

"Know and don’t know."

Gladys offered a mysterious smile and said, while Teacher Yan looked at her sternly,

"If you know where the Miracle Spring is, why not share it with everyone? Just the two of us can’t possibly harvest much fruit."

Glancing at the young girl sitting on Big Black’s back, Gladys took out an old Wolf Tooth necklace hidden in her clothes and held it in her palm, looking around at the blinding snowstorm and said,

"It’s pointless, no one can approach it without its permission."

The snow was getting deeper, and the two struggled to move forward through the thick snow. Although Big Black was at the front shoving through the snow that was nearly thigh-high, their progress was still tough. The young girl, obediently lying on Teacher Yan’s back, curiously peered around as Gladys, who now had Baby Bear on her shoulder, said to Teacher Yan,

"We’re ready; put her down. I’ll take her in."

After saying this to Teacher Yan,

"Could you please wait here for a moment?"

"How do you know we’ve arrived? And why can’t I go in?"

Teacher Yan asked, deeply perplexed. The area around them was blanketed in thick snow, revealing nothing. There were no landmarks to indicate their location, making it unclear why Gladys was so sure.

Holding the warm, old Wolf Tooth necklace, Gladys whispered,

"Don’t ask, okay?"

Slightly puzzled, Teacher Yan put the young girl down, only to see her almost getting swallowed by the snow. He quickly picked her up, thought for a moment, and then brought her in front of Gladys and said,

"If you say so, I won’t ask any more questions. I just hope you won’t do anything bad."

Looking at the young girl struggling unhappily in her arms, Gladys smiled and said,

"I wouldn’t, how could I?"

Saying this, Gladys turned and walked away with the young girl, leaving Teacher Yan inexplicably worried.

As the snowstorm gradually subsided, Gladys held the young girl tightly and walked step by step through the snowy field. The girl struggled in discontent; she felt no fondness for this woman. The Prophecy Doll and the Mysterious Doll sat tense on either side of Mogu’s broad shoulders.

Gladys was saying something to the young girl, who plainly ignored her. Turning her head away, the young girl looked annoyed. As Gladys gently patted her back while humming a sad Mordanese nursery rhyme, the young girl looked up at Gladys with some confusion, not understanding why Gladys was singing like that. The inaccuracies seemed...

Beyond Mogu, Gladys stepped ahead of Baby Bear who was struggling through the snowdrift, and the scenery suddenly changed. A verdant valley surrounded by birdsong and green trees abruptly appeared before them, while behind them, a barrier rippled like water, beyond which the snowstorm raged.

Putting the young girl down, Gladys grasped her hand and confidently walked towards a spot she remembered. Many animals hiding in the shrubs curiously watched these two intruders – it was their first encounter with such strange creatures. Were they dangerous? A rabbit seemed particularly frightened and quietly retreated a few steps back.

The sound of flowing water gradually grew louder. As Gladys proceeded, Mogu set down the Mysterious Doll and Prophecy Doll on the grass. The normally mischievous Baby Bear now walked behind Mogu with restraint. The young girl felt an inexplicable pressure and appeared uneasy. Gladys gripped the old Wolf Tooth necklace tightly and slowly approached the area.

A waterfall cascaded down from the peaks surrounding the valley, stirring up bursts of white mist. Due to the valley’s shelter from the blizzard, sunlight refracted off the mist, creating a splendid rainbow bridge.

Beneath the waterfall, on a stone platform embraced by lush green grass, a white figure stood silently, back facing Gladys, motionless and seemingly lost in thought as they gazed at the waterfall. After a while, the figure turned and spoke to Gladys.

"Have you arrived?"

"Is that why you spoke to me in the Divine Land’s common language all those years ago?"

Gladys looked at the Spirit Beast clad in an elaborate white ritual robe and spoke. She had only understood their true situation after consulting extensive literature and finding a trace in those vague records.

Time Guardian, the ultimate evolved form of the Prophecy Doll, a terrifying existence capable of confronting ordinary Divine Beasts with Sacred Beast Level strength. Time Guardian Lorna smiled at the reserved little girl by Gladys’s side and said,

"Do you understand now?"

"I understand and yet I don’t. If he is that person, why then in my memory..."

Remembering the giant White Wolf and the figure standing in front of the Ice Snow Giants, Gladys felt doubtful, as if all this might not be real.

"The future is constantly changing, even if it cycles back, but a tiny discrepancy can result in a different outcome."

Lorna didn’t explain much further, looking at the little girl beside Gladys, she smiled and said,

"Since it concerns you so much, let me show you the truth behind your blurred memories."

Lorna waved her hand, a pale white light flashed, and Gladys found herself back in that snowy night. The little girl woke up from the darkness, alone, except for him. He smiled, saying something as he pushed on her back. The giant White Wolf shook its head at him, eying the group of Ice Snow Giants that were slowly surrounding them.

This time, she saw the man’s face clearly. It was indeed Teacher Yan, and the White Wolf was the White Wolf Deity. Feng Yuan was nowhere nearby, only Teacher Yan and the White Wolf Deity fought side by side. For some reason, Teacher Yan’s Spirit Beasts weren’t with him. Relying on a black energy shield in his hand, Teacher Yan struggled to fend off the Ice Snow Giants’ assault and shouted something to the terrified little girl behind him.

At this moment, having learned the Divine Land’s common language, Gladys understood what Teacher Yan was shouting.

"Run!"

In his urgency, Teacher Yan shouted while blocking the Ice Snow Giants charging toward the little girl. He was not a Spirit Beast and lacked significant combat ability, thus even a single blow severely wounded him. The White Wolf Deity furiously stamped its paw, and numerous ice spikes violently speared toward the Ice Snow Giants.

The little girl, somewhat anxious, ran toward Teacher Yan, but seeing this, he drastically changed his expression and kept yelling for her to run. Perhaps due to a fever, the little girl collapsed into the snow while running, and Teacher Yan, while dodging the Ice Snow Giants, rushed toward her.

Shielding the little girl beneath him, Teacher Yan firmly faced the approaching herd of Ice Snow Giants. At that moment, the little girl had completely passed out, and the Ice Snow Giants, with fierce expressions, advanced on the two. The White Wolf Deity, surrounded by the Ice Snow Giants, couldn’t come to the rescue in time.

A black figure sliced through the blizzard. Xiao Ji burst onto the battlefield, blue flames striking the Ice Snow Giants, scorching them so they could not attack. After a stalemate, the Ice Snow Giants gradually retreated. It seemed Xiao Ji was searching for something, quickly disappearing without turning back.

"Is this what happened back then? Why..."

"It’s just a small difference that can lead to changes in everything that happens afterward. That’s time; even within a cycle, it constantly changes."

Lorna’s deep voice echoed as darkness gradually enveloped the surroundings. Opening her eyes to see Lorna beneath the waterfall, Gladys smiled and said,

"So, it has always been him, right?"

"That’s right, even though this cycle didn’t include the White Wolf Deity, the actual changes weren’t significant. I already know your purpose. Bring him in; I believe you know how to use those fruits."

Lorna said calmly, looking at the little girl using the Mordan language,

"Little Gladys, do you want to be friends with it?"
