Divine Beast Creator -
Chapter 748 - 749: Choice_1
Chapter 748: Chapter 749: Choice_1
"Decided? Though I can still help you revoke the Divine Beast’s power before you formally step into the rank of a Divine Beast’s strength, I believe you wouldn’t do that."
Feng Yuan looked at the Little Green Snake and asked again, understanding perfectly well that if the Little Green Snake made use of the Divine Beast’s unique aspect to find a new evolutionary path for its species, it surely wouldn’t abandon the responsibilities that came with the power of a Divine Beast.
Agunas glanced at Feng Yuan and said irritably,
"Could you not lead others astray, please? The duties of a Divine Beast are important. Don’t bring in a bunch of sly and sneaky creatures."
"Pfft! There are so many vacant spots for Divine Beasts anyway, it’s not like it makes any difference, right?"
As he spoke, Feng Yuan took out a pitch-black Ancient Book and placed it on the ground. Xiao Ji saw Feng Yuan bestowing Divine Beast qualifications for the first time in the outside world. The black Ancient Book opened, and the text within sparkled with a golden glow. Feng Yuan and the Little Green Snake closed their eyes and remained utterly still. To Xiao Ji’s senses, although Feng Yuan and the Little Green Snake seemed to be still in their original place visually, their presence could no longer be detected, whether by sensing or any other means.
The connection of the Beast Tamer contract could not even find Feng Yuan’s whereabouts. Noticing Xiao Ji’s unease, Agunas spoke up to comfort,
"That is a place closest to Him, it’s normal that you can’t sense anything. There, almost all means of contact will fail."
Though somewhat uneasy, Xiao Ji, having gone through a similar experience, understood and quietly waited. After a long while, Feng Yuan slowly opened his eyes and said,
"So it’s this one..."
After speaking, he looked at the bead on the Little Green Snake’s neck, a highly special item belonging to Divine Beasts that he had given to it. Naturally, it could follow the Little Green Snake back to the modern era, or rather, the bead itself transcended time. Recalling its properties, Feng Yuan shook his head and said,
"I thought it would be an attribute related to the soul. I didn’t expect you to choose one of the rarer attributes in the bead."
Xiao Ji now also sensed a familiar aura emanating from the Little Green Snake. It was an aura only perceivable among Divine Beasts. Agunas looked at Feng Yuan and asked,
"What attribute did it choose?"
"Space. I wonder if it will come knocking."
Feng Yuan was somewhat speechless, not understanding why the Little Green Snake chose the power of this attribute. Agunas, somewhat puzzled, said,
"There’s still an Authority of Space available?"
"Of course, Gitalien controls the general Authority of Space. Although it’s quite broad, it’s not particularly profound. He doesn’t possess the subdivided authorities and mainly controls the space of the real world. He has little to no control over those subsidiary Domains."
"Just like the difference between you and Lorraine Tower."
Agunas nodded in understanding. Like Lorraine Tower, it was a Divine Beast that held the Authority of Time, but the specific types were not the same. Lorraine Tower held most of the powers of the river of time, and hence it could freely wander through the river of time and influence events within it, whereas Agunas was different.
It wielded the recording of history. Although it too could traverse the river of time, it was not like Lorraine Tower, who could freely wander aimlessly out of the river of time. It could only jump towards specific target points in time. Correspondingly, it could ascertain and modify history, not necessarily needing to enter the time it wanted to change in order to alter history.
The need to prescribe Feng Yuan’s return to the past was because this direct modification was too blunt and wouldn’t produce coherent sequences of cause and effect. Without thorough consideration, it could lead to situations where someone who had died in the past might abruptly appear to have never died at a later time.
It was also for this reason that, although Agunas did not possess authorities related to life, it could resurrect any life that had not exceeded the world’s limits.
However, this kind of denial of death at the temporal level had too great an impact on the river of time, and unless absolutely necessary, Agunas would never use this strategy.
"Which spatial authority did it choose?"
Curious, Agunas inquired, as Feng Yuan began to put away the pitch-black Ancient Book and answered,
"Domain, meaning the authority over subsidiary spaces. If the world were to evolve, it would probably turn into the authority of a small world."
"Can it really be that one?"
Agunas was somewhat astonished. The Authority of Domain was almost useless in the real world, but apparently, it made no difference to the Little Green Snake. Its aim was merely to utilize the Divine Beast’s trait of fearlessness regarding evolutionary failure to find a stronger evolutionary path for its kin, regardless of other bizarre and peculiar authorities.
"Yeah, but it’s not too bad, I guess. At least as far as I’m aware, you now rely on Divine Beasts of your own Domains to guard them, right?"
Feng Yuan said offhandedly. With the authority of the Domain, the Little Green Snake could easily enter various Domains and also interfere with the spatial barriers of these Domains. However, that would require at least two more evolutions to achieve. For now, it could probably only just ensure that it could freely enter various Domains.
"It will help, indeed. With its assistance, we can ease up on managing the domains a bit,"
Agunas nodded. The most troublesome thing about domains was that not all spirit beasts could freely enter them. Take the Dream Domain, for example; without breaking the barriers, even Gitalien couldn’t barge in, and to break through those barriers would just be asking for trouble.
Although the Data Domain isn’t as strict and data-based spirit beasts can freely open doors and even force their way in through the Space Gate, that’s only because the Data Domain is still immature. Once it grows stronger, it will become just as hard to enter as the Dream Domain.
"Then you’d better take good care of it—especially Emperor Savidi. They have to woo it properly~"
Feng Yuan said with a mischievous smile. Agunas glanced at him and asked,
"What does that have to do with me?"
"Who knows? It might help you create your own Temporal Field~"
"Do you think that’s possible?"
Agunas rolled his eyes and replied incredulously, "Time and space are equal forces. A Temporal Field couldn’t possibly exist, much less be created." Feng Yuan laughed and said,
"It’s inevitable~"
Staring at Feng Yuan, Agunas said irritably,
"And how do you suppose that would work? If there really was a Temporal Field, wouldn’t that become a second River of Time? How could such a foolish thing happen?"
"The Hall of Time, or whatever you want to call it. In any case, the place where the Golden Book is stored isn’t the River of Time~"
Without even looking at Agunas, Feng Yuan spoke casually. Agunas, discontented, knocked him with a book and said,
"That is the root space created by the Golden Book itself! How could it be called a Temporal Field?"
"But essentially, it’s completely the same, isn’t it~"
Feng Yuan said with a sly smile. After finishing, he picked up Pomiti and looked at the still-unconscious Little Green Snake and said,
"Too bad, no free nanny service for a while. Hey, Agunas~"
"Cut out that wicked grin of yours. I’m not going to take care of it for you."
Agunas turned away in discontent. The Little Green Snake was already at the limit of its evolution. It had just been preparing to evolve into a completely new form, so it didn’t evolve further. Now that it had the qualifications of a Divine Beast, it would naturally keep trying to evolve. During this period, it definitely wouldn’t have time to take care of Pomiti for Feng Yuan.
Xiao Ji nudged Pomiti with its head and chirped at Feng Yuan, who understood and said, albeit amused,
"You better not. Just take care of yourself. If I left Pomiti to you, I’d be afraid of losing her."
Because Pomiti was special, Feng Yuan hadn’t formed any contract with her. If she really got lost, it would be very troublesome to find her. Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Xiao Ji turned its back on him in a huffy manner. Feng Yuan patted Xiao Ji’s head and looked at the Little Green Snake that had started to come around before saying,
"Alright, let’s go, back to the dorm."
Seeing Xiao Ji still sulking, Feng Yuan walked over to comfort it with amusement while the Little Green Snake looked at Feng Yuan gratefully. Agunas flipped his tail and browsed through the Ancient Book he held in his hands.
"Where did you run off to this time?"
Qi Chen looked at Feng Yuan, who had just come in through the door, with a puzzled expression. He had thought Feng Yuan would have returned to the dorm early, but he hadn’t seen him when he got back.
"Just had something to take care of. Why? You don’t want to spend a bit more time sticking close to Dou Yanlan?"
"Get lost!"
Upon hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Qi Chen couldn’t help but throw the blue, round toy he was holding at him. Catching the toy thrown by Qi Chen, Feng Yuan asked, rather perplexed,
"What are you doing?"
