Chapter 730: Chapter 731 Preparing for the Competition_1
"A ghost house? Better leave them be, they’ve spent a fair amount of money on renovations."
Returning to the dormitory in the evening, Qi Chen calmly responded to Feng Yuan’s persistent suggestion. He was well aware that if Feng Yuan went there, there was a high probability that something would go wrong with the ghost house, and a small chance that Feng Yuan might even destroy it.
At least based on his past experiences with Feng Yuan at similar places, not once did things end peacefully; Feng Yuan always managed to cause some incident.
Scaring the staff was the least of worries; the Ghost Series Spirit Beasts in charge of the ghost house would go into a frenzy and run away at the sight of him, causing chaos in those places, especially in ghost houses with performance-based tasks. Qi Chen had rarely seen Feng Yuan visit one without an accident happening afterward.
"You make it sound as if I’m planning to do something bad."
Glancing at Qi Chen, Feng Yuan said discontentedly, paying no mind to his complaints. With a hint of exhaustion, Qi Chen lay on the bed and asked,
"How is the preparation for the competition going?"
"Haven’t contacted them yet, we’ll just pull them in when it’s time."
"Just pull them in..."
Qi Chen looked at Feng Yuan speechlessly, then after a moment asked,
"Aren’t you afraid something will go wrong?"
"What could go wrong? They know their limits."
"Do they?"
Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Qi Chen looked at Agunas floating beside Feng Yuan, noncommittally; he used to think so too, until Agunas collaborated with Lorraine Tower to blow up the border where Clock Town was located.
He was certain that Lorraine Tower was definitely an accomplice; otherwise, given the situation in Clock Town, could Lorraine Tower have failed to notice their little scheme?
"You seem to be in disbelief."
Feng Yuan, sitting on the bed, looked at Qi Chen puzzledly. Somewhat resignedly, the latter replied,
"You’re not planning to blow up the competition venue this time, are you?"
"How could I?!"
Feng Yuan jumped up like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, exclaiming in discontent,
"That little place, blow it up? One move and it’s gone!"
Looking at Feng Yuan speechlessly, Qi Chen said with a bit of weariness,
"Can’t we have a proper competition?"
"Anyway, Divine Beast versus Sacred Beast, the spectacle is bound to be huge by any standard. Or would you prefer to concede defeat?"
"That..."
Qi Chen didn’t doubt that the opponent might send out a Sacred Beast; like Feng Yuan said, Divine Beasts and Sacred Beasts were both at the pinnacle of strength, and their battles were truly no small affair, otherwise why would Divine Beasts seldom fight with each other? They were afraid of accidentally damaging the continent.
"What are you planning to do about the battle venue?"
Qi Chen asked, dubiously. Although the original plan was to use their school’s battle venue, considering the Divine Beasts’ ultimate moves, it seemed difficult to avoid affecting nearby classrooms.
"We’ll see how it goes when the time comes; if not, we’ll simply change the venue. It’s no big deal since Gitalien said it’ll come over, which won’t affect much."
Feng Yuan wasn’t too concerned; he wasn’t crazy enough to destroy the school, though it seemed interesting to him. Qi Chen, however, wasn’t entirely reassured, but he didn’t have a better solution. As for Agunas? Better not entertain that thought; it would be quite the spectacle if Agunas initiated another explosion.
Inside the Special Tasks Team, Captain Yan and the others who already knew Feng Yuan’s train of thought dared not underestimate his destructive potential. They reasoned that he might bring a top-tier Divine Beast, so they had no choice but to suggest to the school authorities to change the competition venue. Even then, they struggled to find a suitable place for the event.
A place too far would inconvenience the spectating students and the media reporters, while a place too close was not much better; everyone was quite vexed about it.
"You know, why don’t you ask him what to do? I believe he wouldn’t really want to tear down the school, right?"
Liao Yu suggested, the timing being rather slack for Feng Yuan, who, even if he skipped classes, wouldn’t need to take leave. Besides, given his capabilities, the academy’s exams seemed unlikely to pose any real challenge; he probably didn’t need to prepare much.
"You go ask."
Captain Yan said calmly. Shrinking his neck at the expectant gazes of everyone in the meeting room, he realized why this meeting meant only for captains and majors required his presence — they were likely waiting just for this.
"What’s the plan? If it doesn’t work out, we can just ask Gitalien to change the venue. We can simply move it into the Starry Sky."
Feng Yuan replied nonchalantly to Liao Yu’s question, as if the matter were trivial. Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Liao Yu asked in surprise,
"You’ve already made arrangements with Gitalien?!"
Because his voice was a little loud due to the surprise, the anxious captains around him immediately turned their gaze to Liao Yu, who started sweating from the sudden attention of so many big shots and hurriedly asked,
"There won’t be any problems, right? Like, accidentally losing control and destroying a few school buildings with the aftermath."
"No, if you’re really worried, just have Gitalien transfer them right from the start,"
Yawning, Feng Yuan said indifferently, not really caring about the situation. After all, even if something got demolished, the time reversal of Lorraine Tower or Agunas could restore the damaged areas. As long as it wasn’t like the border explosion incident where powers of various Divine Beasts were mixed in, even with higher-level powers, there wouldn’t be any problems.
"Relax, if the school really gets demolished, the old teacher won’t let me off the hook, right?"
After a long persuasion, Feng Yuan finally hung up the phone, looked at Qi Chen and said irritably,
"Look at you, even they don’t trust you."
"Psh! Just because I like to play pranks usually, do they have to see me like that?"
Feng Yuan said discontentedly as he placed his phone on the table. Then, Agunas uttered in a low voice as if remembering something,
"It won’t breach the barrier between the Starry Sky and the real world, will it?"
"That..."
Feng Yuan scratched his head guiltily and after a moment said uncertainly,
"If they don’t send a Divine Beast of Lorraine Tower’s level from the other side, it shouldn’t happen. Remember, it took Ernis and Delong Tower clashing to break the barrier."
"You have to have confidence in that barrier."
"The barrier breached?!"
Qi Chen, lying on the bed, sat up suddenly and looked at Feng Yuan in surprise. Scratching his head, Feng Yuan chuckled and explained,
"That was in ancient Omeilia. At that time..."
After listening to Feng Yuan’s story, Qi Chen looked at him somewhat speechlessly and said,
"So trouble follows wherever you go?"
"Hey! That’s slander!"
"Then why would Ernis and Delong Tower start fighting each other? They shouldn’t be that irrational, right?"
Ernis and Delong Tower, being unique Divine Beasts, unlike the Kui Shui Xuanwu and others, do not have their own clans. Hence, records state that Divine Beasts like Ernis and Delong Tower already existed as gods before the birth of modern humans.
Through the long years, it couldn’t make sense for them to act so irrationally. Glancing at Agunas, Feng Yuan said irritably,
"Anyway, it has nothing to do with me. How would I know what happened to them."
"There shouldn’t be any problems if the barrier is breached, right?"
Qi Chen asked somewhat worriedly, looking very certain that the barrier would be damaged. Feng Yuan, annoyed, said,
"It’s just a slight possibility, why are you talking as if it’s definitely going to happen!"
Qi Chen just kept staring at Feng Yuan without saying a word. After a moment, Feng Yuan shyly shrunk his neck and said,
"There won’t be any impact. The Starry Sky and the real world share the same origin. It’s not like the Dream Domain where anomalies could occur. Even if the barrier is breached, nothing too abnormal would happen. At most, a section of the starry sky would appear in the sky, that’s all."
"Really?"
"Really!"
"Such a big fuss, really annoying."
Lying on top of Big Cat and in the form of Little Husky, Feng Yuan complained. They were called to line up and welcome the students from Shangjing because they were relatively free at the moment.
Feng Yuan was quite unhappy about this, but after being warned by the homeroom teacher, he reluctantly transformed into Little Husky and lay on top of Big Cat, hiding behind Qi Chen. Qi Chen stealthily glanced at Little Husky yawning on Big Cat’s head and said,
"We can’t let people think we have no manners, right?"
"Psh, they’re practically at our doorstep, and you’re worried about manners? If they weren’t so busy, I would have had them welcome our ’guests’ and see what kind of reception that would be,"
Little Husky grumbled. Qi Chen responded with exasperation,
"You’re just looking for trouble."
