Chapter 568: Chapter 569 Turmoil_1
The White Wolf Deity was already known for its ability to walk on air, so Xiao Ji was not surprised when it saw the deity do just that. However, it was utterly astonished to see Feng Yuan flying as well.
Seeing the surprised look on the Guarding Flame Dragon’s face, Feng Yuan said with a mischievous smile,
"Although I don’t know why you want us to besiege you, this is your own request. I can only reluctantly agree~"
With a fierce swipe of the Wolf God Giant Sword, a stream of cold entwined itself around the blade. The White Wolf Deity gave a scornful smile and let out a long howl; the sky filled with dark clouds, and snowflakes began to fall slowly. The temperature around them rapidly dropped, but naturally, the Guarding Flame Dragon could not allow the White Wolf Deity to fully unleash its domain.
A wave of scorching breeze blew, halting the temperature drop and gradually starting to rise. Feng Yuan’s figure suddenly vanished from the spot, and the sound of metal clashing rang out as the Guarding Flame Dragon’s claws desperately blocked the slash from Feng Yuan’s Wolf God Giant Sword. Feng Yuan slightly curved the corners of his mouth and withdrew the sword a bit.
A fierce ice storm mixed with piercingly sharp shards of ice hammered the Guarding Flame Dragon, pushing it back a distance. Before the Guarding Flame Dragon could counterattack, Feng Yuan withdrew the Wolf God Giant Sword and freefell until he stopped in mid-air, just before nearing the ground.
Fire pillars crossed the high sky, but neither Feng Yuan nor the White Wolf Deity were on the path of the fire. Feng Yuan raised the giant sword, and a large number of ice swords coalesced in the air, all pointing at the Guarding Flame Dragon.
The White Wolf Deity spewed a breath of ice flame onto the Guarding Flame Dragon’s Flame Shield. The blazing flames were frozen into a splendid ice sculpture by the ice flames. The ice greatsword shattered the ineffective Flame Shield and ruthlessly stabbed into the Guarding Flame Dragon, who bellowed in rage and writhed its enormous body in mid-air.
The clash between ice and fire grew more intense. Even the soldiers in Great Li City began to feel overwhelmed, involuntarily trying to shield themselves from the burning ice crystals that constantly blew over. Red and blue competed for dominance in the sky, each vying for the other’s territory. The Third Prince’s expression was somber as he proceeded towards the Royal Palace of Great Li with his guard, casting a disdainful glance at the lesser nobles fleeing the city.
If there were indeed any danger, outside the city would certainly not be safer than the Royal Palace of Great Li. Not only did the existence of Great Li rely on the Guarding Flame Dragon, but there were also trump cards within the Royal Palace itself.
Containing his rage, the King of Great Li watched the distant sky from the tower where red and blue continued to vie for and exchange positions. The interior of Great Li City had gradually grown deserted; the terrifying battle had long since scared the daylights out of ordinary people, and the guards behind the King trembled. They could feel how dissatisfied the King of Great Li was with the situation.
"Tell Shi Yu and Shi De that no matter what they are trying to do, they are not to let this happen again!"
The Guarding Flame Dragon felt that it had made a tactical error. The White Wolf Deity was already terrifyingly powerful and evenly matched with it. The extent of Feng Yuan’s powers was unknown, yet his capabilities proved to be nearly on par with those of the White Wolf Deity. The combined assault from Feng Yuan and the White Wolf Deity had put it at a disadvantage. Even when it looked for opportunities to counterattack, neither Feng Yuan nor the White Wolf Deity were easy to deal with, especially since their cooperation was particularly effective.
Despite detecting the abnormality in Great Li City, the Guarding Flame Dragon tried to drag the battlefield further away, but the scope of the Legendary Level all-out battle was far too vast.
Once again taking advantage of the Guarding Flame Dragon’s evasion of the White Wolf Deity’s attacks, Feng Yuan slashed at the dragon, and while the freezing effect attached to the sword was quickly neutralized by the flames on the Guarding Flame Dragon’s surface, the dragon was already riddled with wounds. Both its attack power and reaction speed had begun to decrease.
"Do you need to make it so bloody?"
Watching Feng Yuan turn the battlefield into a bloody mess, Guo Huai said speechlessly, while Yao Yin noticed something odd and spoke up,
"Do you want to fall back? We can handle these mountain bandits on our own."
Feng Yuan glanced at Yao Yin and shook his head. Mo Li flicked away an enemy and asked,
"What’s going on here exactly?"
"Probing. They’re getting impatient," Feng Yuan replied as he struck down another bandit. At that moment, Feng Yuan was not concerned with elegance or amusement; he was focusing on the most efficient resolution to the battle. If there was a way to finish it quickly and easily, he would do just that.
"Probing?!" Guo Huai was a bit astonished, and then Yao Yin said,
"You should still pull back. Fighting on multiple fronts isn’t exactly a walk in the park."
After speaking, Yao Yin hurled a Yellow Talisman from between her fingers. The talisman divided and shot towards the surrounding enemies in the air, calling forth thunder that ruthlessly struck those foes.
Xiao Ji, now transformed into the semblance of a Black Giant Bird, set the air ablaze, but the flames that were usually unstoppable seemed to have little effect on the Mountain Bandits. The Coming of the Future’s Little Green Snake, having found its venom ineffective, relied on its body to wrestle with the bandits.
With a turn of the Sickle, several Black Steles fell from the sky, and before they could launch an attack, they were shattered by the Mountain Bandits nearby. Once again slaughtering a bandit, Feng Yuan was enveloped in a black corona that gradually wrapped around him, as tangible as matter itself. Xiao Ji, sensing something strange about Feng Yuan, called out anxiously.
After giving Xiao Ji a reassuring smile, Feng Yuan let out a long howl, and a colossal demon creature appeared on the spot. Its huge black wings slightly blocked the bothersome arrows, and Feng Yuan abandoned the Black Sickle, opting instead to use his black claws to tear apart the enemy.
"It seems you’re in trouble too,"
Liu Wenli, accompanied by her Telekinetic Brown Bear, appeared suddenly, chopping a bandit approaching Mo Li into the air. She cast a glance at the massive Black Demon nearby and, although there were huge horns on its head, recognized it as the person who had helped her before, and expressed her surprise, saying
"What on earth..."
The sky gradually darkened as ’Mo Li’ couldn’t hold back her dissatisfaction and shouted at Feng Yuan,
"What on earth are you trying to do!"
"Come and fight me."
Feng Yuan, squatting on the Stele, beckoned ’Mo Li’ with a provocatively inviting hand gesture, and said. ’Zi Mo’ seemed upset with Feng Yuan’s attitude as a bolt of lightning struck towards Feng Yuan, but he had already jumped to another Stele before ’Zi Mo’ could make her move, laughing maniacally as he swung his Sickle.
Ghostly shadows charged at ’Zi Mo’, while ’Mo Li’, biting her lip, picked up a spear and swirled it about, her purple spear light smashing each of the ghostly shadows into pieces.
"Fall back to Yongning!"
’Mo Li’ shouted to the soldiers behind her, sensing that the power of Feng Yuan’s ultimate technique was escalating, posing a danger to the soldiers if they stayed.
"Your Highness!"
"I’m fine! You all fall back!"
Though the soldiers were reluctant to retreat, the strengthening chill wind forced them to withdraw to the safety of Yongning City’s walls to avoid the piercing cold.
Those monitoring Feng Yuan wanted to approach the battlefield, but the lightning continuously striking the sky and the sky resembling the Ghost Domain made it impossible for them to get anywhere close.
Yongning City descended into panic due to Feng Yuan’s sudden frenzy. While everyone believed that Mo Li could suppress him, the seeping power of his ultimate technique made everyone feel extremely uncomfortable. Although it wasn’t as lethal as the battle outside the walls of Great Li City, that power still made people feel uneasy.
"Can’t you be more careful!"
Guo Huai, nearly wounded by the bone spurs summoned by Feng Yuan, shouted in dissatisfaction. The demonized Feng Yuan merely glanced at Guo Huai before quietly moving the battlefield a bit further away. Although Liu Wenli had joined the fray, the Mountain Bandits kept coming as if they were endless. Although Feng Yuan managed to kill several of them each time he summoned his bone spurs, the number of bandits surrounding them never seemed to diminish.
"Let’s go!"
Feng Yuan said, grabbing Mo Li and her brother and throwing them onto Xiao Ji’s back. Soon after, Feng Yuan had them on Xiao Ji’s back, he looked at the Guards and Liu Wenli, let out a low growl,
"Get close to me!"
Without Mo Li and the others, Liu Wenli and the Guards gradually fell into a disadvantage and were forced to retreat. Liu Wenli and the Guards retreated to Feng Yuan’s side. Looking up at the tall demonized Feng Yuan, Liu Wenli said,
"If you have any trump cards, use them now! We can’t hold out much longer!"
The Devil Feng Yuan took out his Sickle again, now as gigantic as he was. A knock of the long handle against the ground sent tremors through the earth, as if something terrifying was about to burst forth.
