Chapter 515: Chapter 516: Star Ladybug_1
"Yimu Qingling has acted before, and they still missed it, didn’t they? Otherwise, how could this situation have arisen?"
"They’d need to qualify to force me into action, to make the White Wolf Deity give it his all."
...
After a round of complaints, Feng Yuan felt much better. He glanced at the smiling Hua Yiyou and said,
"Thank you."
"You’re welcome."
With a slight smile, Hua Yiyou returned to stand behind Mo Li. At this point, although Feng Yuan and the others were still traveling through the deep forests, this part of the woods was lush yet didn’t block out the sun like before. The remnants of the setting sun filtered through the trees, and as Guo Huai watched the shadows stretching behind himself, he recalled the techniques Feng Yuan had used while guarding the Poison Mush and curiously turned to Feng Yuan, asking,
"Can you still use those shadow moves you employed against the Poison Mush now?"
"Why not?" Feng Yuan replied, somewhat puzzled as he glanced at Guo Huai. Raising his hand, a shadowy claw emerged from Feng Yuan’s shadow on the ground, halting in front of Guo Huai. In the next moment, the towering shadowy claw ripped through the air, standing before Guo Huai’s eyes. Feeling the dark power that made up the giant shadow claw, Guo Huai couldn’t help but step back and said,
"He said that those moves you used were just common tactics, only undergoing special changes under the influence of the Infinite Dreamscape. I thought you couldn’t use them now."
Feng Yuan glanced at Guo Huai and said,
"Why don’t you create a piece of the Infinite Dreamscape yourself? Just mix in the power of the Infinite Dreamscape, and wouldn’t that achieve the same effect?"
"Eh? Create a piece of the Infinite Dreamscape myself?"
Guo Huai looked at Feng Yuan in surprise, while the Agunas apparition flicked its tail and looked at Feng Yuan speechlessly, saying,
"Although Emperor Savidi has not yet come into being in this era, and the Infinite Dreamscape hasn’t evolved into the Dream Domain, creating one’s own piece of the Infinite Dreamscape is not something just anyone can do."
"What’s the difference between the Infinite Dreamscape and the Dream Domain in this period?"
Having participated in battles within the Dream Domain before, Guo Huai was naturally aware that in modern times, the Infinite Dreamscape and the Dream Domain were the same thing, and he looked curiously at Feng Yuan for an answer.
Walking alongside the others, Feng Yuan continued,
"In this era, since Emperor Savidi has not been born, there are naturally occurring Infinite Dreamscapes, but they do not cover the whole world as the Dream Domain does."
"The Dream Domain is an Infinite Dreamscape encompassing the entire world, born after Emperor Savidi integrated all the Infinite Dreamscapes throughout the world."
"That’s why Emperor Savidi cherishes the Dream Domain so dearly, not tolerating anyone causing destruction within it."
"Then... what’s the deal with Anernia?"
Guo Huai looked at Feng Yuan with some skepticism, after all, Anernia was clearly causing trouble within the Dream Domain, and Feng Yuan glanced at him and said,
"Anernis is a Spirit Beast of nightmares and possesses the power of dreams. Besides, it was just being mischievous and didn’t cause any substantive damage to the Dream Domain, even though in the end it still got a scolding from Emperor Savidi."
"And you..."
Recalling something, Guo Huai looked at Feng Yuan excitedly, only to have Feng Yuan shake his head and say,
"It won’t work. After the birth of the Dream Domain, all new Infinite Dreamscapes would automatically integrate into it. Even if you learned how to create the Infinite Dreamscape, it’d be of no use."
"As for creating it now, it’s pointless because you can’t take it back with you, and Pu Pu can’t evolve in this place either."
"However, you could ask San Ding to issue a task and take that thing as a reward for you."
"That stingy guy would reward something as good as that?"
Looking at Feng Yuan with disbelief, Guo Huai waved it off. Feng Yuan, exasperated, added,
"Of course, it’s not it giving you something out of thin air. Otherwise, why do you think it can only give you knowledge?"
"It might, however, be able to contact Him, especially for a special task like this. He should give you some tangible rewards."
"Is that so..." Guo Huai said with excitement, forgetting to watch where he was stepping. Had it not been for Feng Yuan noticing something amiss and supporting him, he probably would have tripped. Guessing that Guo Huai was haggling with his system to strike a deal, Feng Yuan said helplessly,
"Is there any need to be so urgent?"
Glancing at Feng Yuan, Guo Huai said irritably,
"Of course it’s better to get something so important as soon as possible. You think I’m like you, huh? Not lacking anything good!"
"Tsk, you talk as if being urgent is actually useful."
"Shut up!"
Mo Li, who was beside them, smiled and pulled at Feng Yuan, saying,
"I can understand his feelings. If I knew there was something beneficial for Zi Mo, I too would be just as anxious."
Although Mo Li wasn’t very clear about what they were talking about, he could more or less guess the situation. Zi Mo snorted through his nose and swung his head around to Mo Li’s side, seeking affection. Patting the head that Zi Mo offered, Mo Li looked up at the sky and said,
"Shall we set up camp early?"
"Why?"
Looking up at the sky with some confusion, Feng Yuan noticed a shade of grey gradually taking over the sky. He looked around and saw dots of starlight that began to move with the falling night, slowly clustering together. Those points of light were surrounded by rather thick leaves which started spinning and gathering together as the starlight united.
Feng Yuan said with a smile,
"Indeed, it looks like it’s going to rain soon."
Guo Huai, somewhat puzzled, followed Feng Yuan’s gaze and upon a closer look, he realized that those dots of light were actually the faint luminescence emitted from the backs of insect-like creatures that greatly resembled ladybugs. Although they looked like ladybugs, they were much larger, with the smallest being the size of an egg and the largest the size of a grown person’s fist. As Guo Huai wondered, information about the ladybugs appeared.
"Star Ladybug (Telekinesis)
Common Level potential, although possessing telekinesis, its relatively fragile insectoid body reduces its power by one level, rendering it almost incapable of combat.
An omnivorous Spirit Beast, it usually feeds on tree sap and occasionally preys on other insects."
As Star Ladybugs and their evolved forms feed on trees, they release a special growth trick to avoid damaging the trees, which led to speculation about whether they possessed wood-based or other powers. However, after lengthy research, it has been confirmed that this is but a unique way of using telekinesis.
Due to their high environmental needs, forests damaged by human activity cannot support their growth, leading to a rapid decline in their numbers in modern times. Currently, researchers have begun to investigate why Star Ladybugs have such specific habitat requirements.
..."
"Star Ladybugs? They are also Spirit Beasts?"
Guo Huai couldn’t help expressing his surprise, but he was still somewhat skeptical of the description. After all, they had not encountered such glowing creatures in the previous days. Feng Yuan nodded and said,
"Yep, extremely weak Spirit Beasts. They can’t even sustain a telekinetic shield, otherwise, why would they bother moving those leaves to block the rain?"
"Speaking of which, why didn’t we see them in the previous days?"
Guo Huai asked, puzzled. He knew it was impossible to get answers from the system; he had long noticed it provided only the information it knew, and asking more wouldn’t help. Feng Yuan glanced at Guo Huai and said,
"Did the ’three ding’ not explain?"
Thinking it over, Guo Huai said,
"It didn’t explain why this is happening."
Looking over the Star Ladybugs that were gradually gathering to take shelter from the rain, Feng Yuan said calmly,
"The trees are too dense over there, hardly any sunlight gets through. Would you choose that place to live? Star Ladybugs aren’t the kind of Spirit Beasts that like to burrow into dark places; naturally, they wouldn’t appear there."
"This area has some human activity, but not much, which is just right for Star Ladybugs to live in. Unfortunately..."
As Feng Yuan spoke, he saw Hua Yiyou curiously approach to observe the Star Ladybugs up close. As Hua Yiyou got nearer, the luminescence on the backs of the ladybugs began to dim. Seeing Hua Yiyou stop in his tracks, Feng Yuan said with a chuckle,
"Star Ladybugs are very timid. After all, they are extremely weak Spirit Beasts. If you touch them, they might run away."
"With the rain coming, it’s best not to disturb them."
Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Hua Yiyou smiled slightly and said,
"I see."
