Chapter 232: Chapter 232: The Core Location_1

"If you disregard the weird exterior, the structure inside E Hua Temple is almost identical to a part of Featherwood City’s Tower of Oblivion."

"If I’m not mistaken, the place where rewards are placed inside the Tower of Oblivion should be where its core lies."

As Captain Yang led the group forward, he explained while Feng Yuan recalled and said,

"I remember the interior space of the Tower of Oblivion is quite big, right? Could it be such a coincidence?"

Understanding Feng Yuan’s point, Elder Li said while paying attention to their surroundings,

"You might be underestimating him. He had thoroughly mapped out the inner space of the Tower of Oblivion during his student days, and it’s safe to say that he has been to most of the discovered spaces more than once."

"It seems the little rodents that have slipped in are quite clever—so... between destroying E Hua Temple and rescuing those people, how do you plan to choose?"

"What are you trying to do!"

Upon hearing that eerie female voice, Captain Yang bellowed in anger. Sensing a disturbance in the surrounding energy, Feng Yuan looked at Agunas, who nodded at him. Agunas opened the Dark Ancient Book in hand, ready to jump into battle at any moment. At this time, the same people they had encountered before, with red eyes, attacked from all directions, converging on the trio. Using the Barrier to push through the crowd, Elder Li continuously commanded his Spirit Beasts to use non-lethal moves to fend off the pursuers.

"It seems you care quite a bit about the lives of those people—so how about this?"

"Damn it!"

Seeing the people turning on each other, Elder Li and Captain Yang cursed under their breath. Holding back Xiao Ji, who was trying to leap out of his arms, Feng Yuan looked around and shouted,

"What the hell are you trying to accomplish by doing this?"

"I can’t believe you would do something utterly meaningless."

"Tch! Perhaps she’s been found out, not saying a word..."

Glancing at Agunas, they saw that Agunas had, at some point, placed a small hand on the Dark Ancient Book, its text emitting a faint golden light, as if ready to leap out from the pages.

"If this can’t be helped, we may have to abandon them. At this rate, we can’t move forward."

The crowd closing in on them grew larger, and Elder Li and Captain Yang were busy commanding the Spirit Beasts to separate the fighting people, their progress slowing, until they finally stopped moving forward. Sighing, Feng Yuan looked at Agunas and said,

"I’ll do it..."

Agunas looked worriedly at Feng Yuan and shook her head, then glanced at Captain Yang as Feng Yuan whispered,

"If we leave them be, he’ll probably feel guilty. Besides, with you and Xiao Ji here, there shouldn’t be any major problems."

After a moment of hesitation, Agunas hesitantly handed over the Dark Ancient Book to Feng Yuan. Feeling the power flowing from Agunas, Feng Yuan, still looking at the others trying to keep the people apart, said softly,

"It always gets so tiring... Really... Xiao Ji, I’m leaving the safety to you now~"

Flinging the Dark Ancient Book into the air, where it enlarged and floated, Feng Yuan chanted softly. Xiao Ji and Agunas kept a vigilant watch on their surroundings, while the Dreaming Dragon Baby on Feng Yuan’s shoulder was suddenly pulled aside. It turned around in annoyance only to find it was Najia. The Dreaming Dragon Baby called out in confusion, and Najia shook his head, gesturing towards Feng Yuan while remaining on guard.

Seeing beads of sweat form on Feng Yuan’s face, Najia thought for a moment, then began a mysterious dance, singing a compelling song. Suddenly, they felt a surge in their and their Spirit Beasts’ powers. Elder Li and Captain Yang couldn’t help but turn towards the source of the song. At that moment, noticing Feng Yuan’s actions, Captain Yang shouted,

"Feng Yuan! What are you doing!"

"Stop it right now!"

After yelling several times and realizing Feng Yuan wasn’t responding, Captain Yang cursed under his breath and prepared to rush over to stop him. Just then, Feng Yuan turned to Captain Yang with a weary smile and said,

"It’s all up to you now~"

A primitive and complex giant clock face illusion appeared behind Feng Yuan, and the two only felt a strange force brush past them, bringing everything around them to a standstill.

"Bastard!"

Captain Yang cursed as he rushed to Feng Yuan’s side, helping him up and using his own Spirit Beast power to roughly check Feng Yuan’s physical condition. Finding that Feng Yuan was only a bit weakened, he breathed a sigh of relief and couldn’t help but curse a few times. Seeing Feng Yuan’s weary look, Captain Yang sighed and asked,

"How long can you maintain it?"

"Going by the normal flow of time, at most six hours, but starting from two hours later, we’ll need to call upon more power to maintain the Spatial Temporal Seal," Feng Yuan replied.

Captain Yang sighed, not knowing what to say. He called over Bai Mao to assist Feng Yuan, then nodded towards Elder Li. Elder Li glanced at Feng Yuan, sighed, and began directing the Spirit Beasts to protect the trio. Noticing Feng Yuan’s difficulty in keeping up with the pace, Bai Mao thought for a moment, sheathed his blade, and without another word, hoisted Feng Yuan onto his back.

"This is the first time I’ve been carried by a Spirit Beast~"

Feng Yuan said, somewhat amused, his hand unconsciously stroking the long fur on Bai Mao’s back. Xiao Ji sat on Feng Yuan’s head, vigilantly scanning the surroundings, while Agunas and the Dreaming Dragon Baby floated beside Feng Yuan. Najia somehow found its way onto Feng Yuan’s shoulder, occasionally turning its head to check on him, and upon seeing that Feng Yuan was alright, continued to watch the area guardedly.

"The Reward Hall is just ahead, everyone be alert!"

Captain Yang saw the door in front of him, stopped in his tracks, and shouted back to the two behind him. Seeing that Elder Li was prepared, Captain Yang glanced at Bai Mao carrying Feng Yuan and gestured for him to move closer to Elder Li before pushing open the door.

"Quite swift in action, hmm~ It seems your team has a big guy helping you out~"

Upon entering, they saw a nebula-like space, with a crystal corridor stretching from the doorway into the distance. Hearing that eerie female voice ring out again, Captain Yang shouted,

"What exactly is your purpose!"

"What on earth are you trying to do!"

After shouting a few times and getting no response, Captain Yang didn’t rush forward but instead said softly,

"It seems like our opponent can’t clearly understand what’s happening here."

"It’s probably not judging based on energy strength either, which means they might only be able to obtain basic location information," Elder Li analyzed after looking at Feng Yuan. Captain Yang looked into the space beyond the door and said,

"Even though the guess is likely correct, we can’t rule out the possibility that the opponent is feigning ignorance."

Elder Li glanced at Ah Lan on his shoulder and nodded knowingly. Ah Lan flew into the air, flapping its wings, and a sea-blue Barrier surrounded by a Rune Circle enveloped the trio. Captain Yang nodded at Bai Mao, who with one hand supporting Feng Yuan and the other drew the Rule of Order in the air, creating a golden spherical Barrier that enclosed both Bai Mao and Feng Yuan. Glancing at Xiao Ji, who hopped onto the ground, Captain Yang said,

"Put that Xiao Ji on top of your head. The upcoming battle might be dangerous."

"Ji!"

Feeling somewhat underestimated by Captain Yang, Xiao Ji chirped discontentedly and returned to Feng Yuan’s head, ready for action. After they were prepared, Elder Li took the lead, and the trio stepped onto the crystal corridor.

"Bai Mao! Keep him safe!"

Not long after stepping onto the crystal corridor, countless humanoid shadow monsters appeared from nowhere, using various Ghost Series moves to launch an attack on the trio.

"Foolish!"

Seeing that those shadows only possessed Elite Level strength, Elder Li said quietly as Ah Lan took to the wing. A terrifying Ice Storm swept through the space, freezing all the shadows without exception.

"Go!"

As the shadows were frozen, Elder Li didn’t plan to kill them; instead, he signaled for the group to move on. Elder Li effortlessly dealt with various dangers along the way. Feng Yuan chuckled and said,

"It’s always comfortable to follow a big shot~ Apart from setting a control, there’s nothing else to do~"

The Dreaming Dragon Baby and Xiao Ji might not have understood what Feng Yuan was saying, but Najia, who had been taking care of Big Cat, seemed to get Feng Yuan’s point and gave him a speechless look.
