Chapter 1326: Chapter 1327 Beastmaster Veronia
After a while, the battle ended. Feng Yuan looked at the big cat wearing the ritual robe and smiled faintly, saying,
"You look pretty good like this. You match well with Agunas and the others."
The big cat looked at Feng Yuan in confusion and let out a soft growl. Agunas glanced at Feng Yuan in annoyance and said,
"What nonsense are you spouting now."
"Isn’t it true? Quite a few Divine Beasts among you wear ritual robes—like you, Nagna, Najia... Veronia doesn’t, I think. Huh? Speaking of which, has anyone noticed where Veronia went?"
It was only then that Feng Yuan realized Veronia and Belusir had been missing all this time. Although Veronia mentioned she was going to train Droplet Bubble and the others, given the circumstances, there should have been some commotion at least, right?
"I think she went over that way. She said facing immense pressure would help them grow faster."
Feng Yuan followed the direction of Agunas’ pointed paw and said speechlessly,
"What? She went to the advanced zone? Droplet Bubble and the little lizard are barely Good Level—I don’t see how they could fight opponents that are at least Rare Level, let alone teams."
Although the opponents here had decent strength, they were generally around the same age as Feng Yuan and his group. Even Yang Hongzhi’s opponents weren’t overwhelmingly strong, which was why they managed to linger here. But the advanced zone? That was a place reserved for academy graduates.
Of course, Feng Yuan didn’t doubt that Veronia wouldn’t be beaten up in that area. Even against academy graduates—so what? Not even the Elders could match up to some Divine Beasts, let alone the regular folks.
But if Veronia was fighting directly, how was that considered training? Thinking this, Feng Yuan gently patted Xiao Ji on its back and said,
"Let’s go, we’ll check it out."
Meanwhile, at the lakeside advanced zone of the battle park, the Beastmasters in the area were staring in astonishment at the blonde woman holding a parasol. Veronia’s terrifying combat prowess was truly shocking.
At first, she had shown up with Droplet Bubble and some kind of lizard Spirit Beast that no one could identify. People scorned at the idea of battling her since it was obvious at a glance that her two Beast Companions weren’t their match. But when someone, unable to resist her provocations, decided to teach her a lesson, reality soon contradicted their assumptions.
The woman easily defeated the considerably strong opponent in just a few moves. And as for Droplet Bubble and the lizard Spirit Beast? They were completely sidelined, mere spectators. Her companions didn’t seem surprised at all.
After the first challenger fell, others couldn’t help but step up to challenge her. But no matter who it was, the battles all ended up replaying the same scene.
"So, what’s the point of this training?"
Feng Yuan asked Veronia in exasperation. After all, she was a Divine Beast; if she didn’t restrain her powers, regular people wouldn’t stand a chance against her.
Veronia chuckled lightly and said,
"I just accidentally overdid it. I thought the advanced zone would at least put some pressure on them, but alas..."
"If you’re really looking for a challenge, why don’t we head to Starry Heaven for a duel?"
Agunas flicked its tail and looked at Veronia in disbelief. Was she joking? How could ordinary people possibly be her opponents? Glancing at Belusir, Feng Yuan asked curiously,
"Aren’t you going to stop her? This whole thing seems pretty pointless."
Belusir shook its head and said,
"But she finds it entertaining. Besides, it doesn’t really affect much, does it? The fates of both Droplet Bubble and the little lizard are under her domain. I can’t see through it, nor can I tell if what she’s doing is good or bad."
"An unfathomable fate, sigh~"
Looking at the two Spirit Beasts by Veronia’s side, Belusir shook its head. Even if it wanted to help the two little ones, it couldn’t. It couldn’t see their futures, and if it’s only the recent events, there wasn’t much meaning in interfering.
"Are you seriously trying to glimpse their destinies? Haven’t I told you it’s unnecessary? Don’t do that,"
Feng Yuan said exasperatedly, looking at Belusir. Startled, Belusir muttered in a low voice,
"I... forgot."
"It’s alright. I’ll remind you,"
Veronia said solemnly, sweeping her parasol towards Belusir. Then, opening her parasol, she gazed around with a look of disappointment and said,
"Sigh, I really thought the people in the advanced zone would be stronger... What a letdown..."
"Are you looking for trouble? How about I spar with you instead?"
Agunas said helplessly, looking at Veronia. Her remarks were bordering on taunting. Feng Yuan glanced around and said,
"You’re seriously comparing them to you, a Divine Beast? Isn’t that giving them way too much credit?"
"But, I can’t exactly go fight the little crocodile—it wouldn’t teach them anything."
Saying this, Veronia gave Agunas a provocative look. Seeing the two Divine Beasts seemingly about to argue again, Feng Yuan patted Xiao Ji’s back and remarked,
"Fine, argue all you want. Just don’t fight outside the Starry Heaven boundary, okay? If you do, you might attract the attention of other Divine Beasts."
With that, he left the two Divine Beasts behind and walked off. Xiao Ji’s injuries had largely healed, so it could resume battling. As they looked at the obviously stronger Spirit Beasts nearby, Xiao Ji nudged Feng Yuan with its head and let out a soft chirp. Seeing this, Feng Yuan chuckled and poked its head, saying,
"Don’t get reckless. Without Crimson Judgement, what are the chances you can win against them? Didn’t you take anything I said before seriously?"
Lowering its head, Xiao Ji stole a glance at Feng Yuan and then pretended to reflect deeply. Gently patting its back, Feng Yuan said,
"Alright, let’s go find Qi Chen and the others."
"Is it fully recovered?"
Qi Chen asked as he looked over Xiao Ji. There was no helping it—Xiao Ji was different from their Beast Companions. Healing Death-type Spirit Beasts was always more difficult since most Healing Moves were ineffective against them.
Of course, in turn, their recovery moves were quicker. Still, Xiao Ji probably didn’t have any recovery abilities—it wasn’t like him. Qi Chen understood Xiao Ji’s personality; it was entirely focused on offense.
Forget healing moves; even the control abilities it learned back in its Eggshell Chicken days were never used anymore. As for defense techniques, in Xiao Ji’s hands, they might as well be offensive moves.
"Yeah. Did you guys just finish fighting?"
"No, we’ve just been resting here. After all, constant battles take a lot out of you mentally."
Qi Chen shook his head and said. Not just Ah Mu—even Qi Chen himself couldn’t avoid feeling a bit drained. Compared to a powerhouse like Feng Yuan, the continuous combat wore heavily on his mind.
Dou Yanlan, holding Cotton, looked at Feng Yuan and remarked,
"Your abilities truly are enviable."
"Heh heh~ I can’t help it, you know~"
Scratching his head, Feng Yuan didn’t know how to respond. A natural talent? That could explain it but didn’t completely fit the situation. Dou Yanlan, simply making small talk, didn’t press further. Standing up, she said to Feng Yuan,
"Well then, let’s have another match?"
"Sure, but Xiao Ji, you better watch yourself this time; don’t mess up like last time."
Pressing a hand on Xiao Ji’s head, Feng Yuan couldn’t help but chide. Looking up at him, Xiao Ji lowered its head without a word. After a while, it let out a quiet chirp.
Picking up the Flower Leaf Tree Three Spirit Beasts that were swaying on Ah Mu’s head, Feng Yuan poked their leader, Potpot Flower, on the forehead and said,
"Later, you three behave and stay on the side. No running off, okay~"
Potpot Flower looked at Feng Yuan curiously, yawned, and shut its eyes. Placing them down, Feng Yuan called Kong Qing over to help keep an eye on them. Although Kong Qing couldn’t get too close to the trio, as a Space Divine Beast, it still had ways to protect them. At the very least, the Ultimate Moves didn’t pose them much of a threat, and Kong Qing’s spatial distortions were subtle enough for them not to notice.
Glancing at Pomiti perched on its head, Kong Qing used its tail to set Pomiti down. Pomiti didn’t run off either, instead sitting by Kong Qing’s cool body. Its tail flicked lightly, conjuring a Spatial Barrier that encased the Flower Leaf Tree Three Spirit Beasts. Seeing this, Qi Chen called Ah Mu to join him and Feng Yuan in preparing for a three-on-three match.
They hadn’t noticed Pomiti watching Feng Yuan and his group search for opponents, a strange hint of longing flickering in its gaze.
Inside the Spatial Barrier, the Flower Leaf Tree Three Spirit Beasts sang merrily, seemingly cheering for Ah Mu. The surrounding crowd appeared accustomed to the trio’s antics. After all, whenever Qi Chen and Ah Mu fought together, these three would habitually stay under Kong Qing’s care as well.
