Chapter 1284: Chapter 1285: Meeting Each Other
"Hehe~ So, aren’t you going to explain it to them yet?"
Patting the Inferno Mastiff, Feng Yuan finished speaking and jumped off its back. Xiao Ji ran up beside Feng Yuan and curiously observed the Inferno Mastiff and the Flower Bud. The two stared at each other in silence, and ultimately, the Flower Bud was the first to break the stillness. Hearing a sound that resembled a sobbing complaint, Feng Yuan scratched his head and, together with Xiao Ji, moved off to the side. Soap operas like this? Not his idea of entertainment.
After a while, Qi Chen and the others finally arrived to see the Inferno Mastiff standing midair. Agunas pulled out his claw and waved it, forcefully expanding the space of the garden—or rather, it wasn’t so much the expansion of the garden itself as it was the people and Spirit Beasts within being shrunk.
Previously seated on an intact garden bench, Feng Yuan suddenly realized that the bench beneath him had grown in size. At this point, calling it a "bench" hardly seemed fitting—it was closer to a "bed"? Looking around, Feng Yuan noticed everything around him had become larger or, rather, he had shrunk. Was this Agunas’ handiwork? Or Veronia’s? Feng Yuan wasn’t entirely sure. Honestly, if it wasn’t them, it couldn’t possibly be Long Boduo or Belusir—they didn’t have such abilities.
Taking in the peculiar surroundings, Long Boduo excitedly darted into the garden. This perspective—from the viewpoint of a creature with a shrunken size—was something entirely new to them, and inexplicably fascinating.
Looking toward the Inferno Mastiff, Agunas spoke:
"Take them around the secret garden that used to belong to all of you."
"So it was you who did this!"
Confronting the approaching Agunas, Feng Yuan finally discovered the culprit. Glancing sideways at Feng Yuan, Agunas snapped back:
"Its size is too large to land; don’t you think of ways to fix that?"
"What can I do about its inability to change size? It’s not as if I can summon the White Wolf Deity to handle this affair."
Rolling his eyes, Feng Yuan replied. Lacking such powers himself, and with Xiao Ji naturally incapable of it either, he was truly at a loss.
"So, where should we head next? Back to Quersan for more snacks, or somewhere else entirely? How about a visit to Honite Snow Mountain?"
"During this season? Dangerous."
Dou Yanlan glanced toward Feng Yuan as she spoke. Though Honite Snow Mountain was perpetually covered in ice and snow, it was still a snow mountain within the Dantia region. While peculiar elements might ensure that the snow never melted, visiting the mountain at this time was risky, as potential avalanches or other disasters could occur. Against such natural catastrophes, only Agunas and the others... No way, she realized that Feng Yuan’s suggestion wasn’t entirely absurd. Well, except...
With Agunas and company around, an avalanche—or even the collapse of a whole snow mountain—would pose no danger. Four Divine Beasts together, even the weakest among them, were already formidable. Not to mention two of them were top-tier.
"I could ensure your safety, but what’s so interesting about that kind of place?"
Agunas looked at Feng Yuan with skepticism. Could this guy be throwing out suggestions just for the sake of it? Sitting on the now massive bench, Feng Yuan leaned back against Xiao Ji standing behind him. Dangling his legs midair, he replied:
"Don’t you think visiting a snow mountain during the height of summer sounds interesting? Especially if it’s summer in a place like that—and imagine if flowers were blooming there~"
"Not happening. Even Kannen’s powers couldn’t possibly achieve that unless we’re talking about flowers adapted to icy and snowy conditions."
Expressionless, Agunas looked at Feng Yuan and dismissed the idea. Flowers in conditions of perpetual frost and ice simply wouldn’t survive. Even Spirit Flowers, unless inherently suited for such environments, would face trouble—at best, wilting; at worst, outright dying.
"Forget it. Let’s see later if there’s anything else nearby worth exploring. Sure, Dantia may bear the name ’Garden Castle,’ but the towns are too homogeneous."
Leaning against Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan remarked. Initially, he hadn’t noticed, but after arriving in Quersan, the problem became apparent—even their signature snacks were minimally distinct, differing mostly in preparation methods and some ingredients. After visiting just two towns, Feng Yuan had grown weary of the sameness. Touring all of Dantia? No thanks. Perhaps somewhere else? Yet outside tourism, Drochkar didn’t seem to offer much. Cities to visit? The very thought made his head ache, so Feng Yuan shut his eyes and let it go.
"Why not visit Tiraya City to check it out before heading somewhere else?"
Noticing Feng Yuan’s strained expression, Qi Chen made a suggestion. Tiraya was known for being home to Dantia’s quintessential Garden Castle. Once they had explored that spot, perhaps Feng Yuan could consider leaving Dantia altogether.
The only issue was figuring out the next destination, which Qi Chen couldn’t help with. After all, he didn’t know exactly what Feng Yuan was looking for. With eyes still closed, Feng Yuan replied:
"Sounds doable. Maybe the castle in Tiraya will be decent. I just hope their snacks aren’t as similar to here..."
"How about the Meteor Valley in Sollecher?"
Glancing at her phone, Veronia suggested. Hearing her idea, Feng Yuan thought for a moment before replying:
"What kind of place is that? Doesn’t ring any bells."
"Back during the Dynasty Era, a massive meteor crashed there. The impact left behind what we now call Meteor Valley. How about it?"
After hearing Veronia’s explanation, Feng Yuan looked toward Little Ice Cream, who was running back and forth, apparently oblivious to the conversation. After thinking for a moment, Feng Yuan said:
"Sounds possible—a backup idea. But your suggestion isn’t as simple as it seems, is it?"
"Of course not. The meteor itself has still never been found, you know. Imagine the challenge of a meteor that size managing to fall intact onto the earth. It’s said that divine intervention was responsible for its descent."
"Divine intervention? What was the intent behind that?"
Hearing Veronia’s words, Feng Yuan felt puzzled. Dropping such an enormous meteor—what was the purpose? He didn’t know much about Meteor Valley specifically, but judging from the name, was it possible that the meteor directly gouged out a valley? Terrifying. Motivations for such an act remained unfathomable.
"No idea. I only know it happened, that’s all."
Shaking her head, Veronia replied. She truly didn’t know the details, but there must have been some unique considerations involved. Otherwise, the divine being wouldn’t have done it.
Agunas gazed at Veronia skeptically, jerking his paw slightly and asking:
"You’re not planning to go there and create a few more Meteorite Spirit Beasts, are you?"
Though unlikely, you never know whether additional Meteorite Spirit Beasts might emerge in such a place—especially given the divine being’s direct involvement in bringing that meteor here. Shooting Agunas a glare, Veronia retorted:
"I’m not that boring. If I genuinely wanted that, couldn’t I just go myself?"
No longer bound to Feng Yuan’s side as before, Veronia had no need to drag him along if she wished to find Meteorite Spirit Beasts. She could personally visit such locations without issue. And while crossing regions might be inconvenient, it wasn’t impossible for her—after all, the storms over the Starlit Sea posed no threat to her, just distance.
"Wonder how things are on their side."
Stroking Xiao Ji’s neck, Feng Yuan tilted his head upward, gazing at Xiao Ji as he spoke. On his part, Xiao Ji found this unusual interaction oddly amusing. Nearby, Agunas glanced at the towering hedgerows and said:
"No clue. If you’re curious, why not go visit personally?"
"Hmm... wouldn’t be entirely bad. Honestly, the way you messed with this place—it’s fascinating~"
With a faint smile, Feng Yuan lightly patted Xiao Ji’s belly and jumped down from the oversized bench. Noticing Qi Chen and the others still atop it, Feng Yuan waved his hand and called:
"Come down already~"
Exchanging glances briefly with Dou Yanlan, Qi Chen signaled Ah Mu to weave vines for them to gradually slide down. Observing the disproportionately huge wild grass surrounding the scene, Feng Yuan turned to Agunas and commented:
"Your size adjustments really went overboard, huh?"
"Its size is massive—I had no other option. It’s not like I have the White Wolf Deity’s spatial compression ability."
Recalling how back in Nanyu the White Wolf Deity had effortlessly reduced large Spirit Beasts with spatial manipulation, Agunas couldn’t help feeling a twinge of envy. Situations like today highlighted his limitations, as he could only enlarge environments rather than compress creatures directly.
Indeed, while it appeared as though Feng Yuan and company had been shrunken, the truth was that Agunas had magnified the small garden itself. However, his imperfect control of proportions inadvertently made everyone feel as though they were caught in a giant’s realm.
