Chapter 1275: Chapter 1276: Train

"Sorry, sorry, I was delayed because I stumbled upon a Moonlit Night Flower."

Rushing up to Feng Yuan and the others, Yang Hongzhi hadn’t even caught his breath before he started apologizing. After all, everyone had already agreed on a meeting time, yet he showed up so late. Still, there was little he could do—Moonlit Night Flowers were rare even in the Divine Land Region. As for asking Feng Yuan and the others to leave first and for him to catch up later?

That wasn’t an option, as his visa was tied to theirs. Staying behind alone could easily lead to issues.

"It’s fine; we’re not in any hurry. The night train has its own charm, too~"

Seeing Yang Hongzhi arrive, Feng Yuan waved it off. Considering the two spots weren’t too far apart—and besides, in the worst-case scenario, Agunas could just open a door directly—he really didn’t find it to be a big deal.

Boarding the sightseeing train, Feng Yuan and his group found a spot to sit. Since it was a scenic train, the seating was designed to maximize views and encourage casual conversations. Each seating area was arranged face-to-face with a large table in between. They placed the desserts they had bought earlier on the table as Feng Yuan opened the train’s window and remarked,

"The luminous flowers are really something~"

Outside the window, flowers emitting soft glows of various colors bloomed in vibrant competition. The sea of flowers stretched alongside the railway into the distance. Xiao Ji craned its neck to peek outside from beside Feng Yuan but lost interest after a while and retreated. The tourists on the train, however, couldn’t help but be excited at the sight of such a glowing floral spectacle.

After all, similar phenomena weren’t common. These flower fields were evidently meticulously arranged, neither overly simplistic nor forced.

"No wonder the tickets are so expensive."

Qi Chen sighed. Although Feng Yuan was paying for this trip, he still found the train tickets exorbitantly priced. Glancing at the packed carriage, Veronia commented,

"Even so, there are still plenty of people."

"Well, the price is only steep for ordinary folks—and besides, isn’t the atmosphere great?"

Hugging Xiao Ji around the neck, Feng Yuan chuckled. The train didn’t sell tickets per individual seat but rather as sets based on the tables. They had chosen a 3x2 arrangement with a total of six seats, but realistically, with Long Boduo and Veronia in their human forms, there were only four of them.

Nibbling on some treats, Long Boduo glanced out the window and remarked,

"The view’s nothing special. The soul flowers near the River of Fate are way more beautiful."

"There are no trains near the River of Fate."

Shooting Long Boduo a glance, Feng Yuan retorted. Sure, there were many wonders in the world, but comparing them served no purpose. Those sights were often located in strange domains like the Netherworld or in remote, desolate areas. Without Agunas opening doors for quick travel, a simple visit would be out of the question—he wasn’t about to just take a photo and leave. What would be the point in that?

"We’ve got all the camping gear for the flower fields; how about we head straight there when we arrive?"

Leaning back on his seat with his hands behind his head, Feng Yuan glanced at Qi Chen and the others, scratching Xiao Ji’s head as it rested on him.

Checking the time on his phone, Qi Chen remarked,

"That’s probably all we can do. It’ll be close to 1 AM by the time we get there. If we don’t rest soon, we might not wake up in time tomorrow."

What concerned him the most, though, was Feng Yuan; the guy had a habit of staying up late and being unable to get out of bed the next day. Chuckling, Feng Yuan ruffled Xiao Ji’s head and said,

"Why? If you’re worried about that, why not just pull an all-nighter?"

"Go ahead on your own. I’m not keeping you company."

Shooting an exasperated look at Feng Yuan, Qi Chen replied grumpily. A sleepless night? No way.

The night train sped through the flower fields, petals swirling in the wind and flying into the sky like fireflies.

"Ugh~ Sitting for too long gets tiring."

Stretching, Feng Yuan gave Xiao Ji, who had fallen asleep, a light pat on the belly and lazily said to the groggy creature,

"Let’s go. We’ve arrived."

Qi Chen swept the trash from their table into the bin, slung on his backpack, and stood up, cradling potted flowers and trees. Cotton hopped down from Dou Yanlan’s arms, flicked its tail, and watched as she picked up the potted plants. Despite its concern for the three little Spirit Beasts, they still didn’t dare approach it, leaving Cotton a bit disappointed.

As they stepped off the train, a cool breeze swept through. Startled awake, the drowsy Xiao Ji quickly surveyed its surroundings before relaxing at the sight of Feng Yuan right in front of it.

Big Cat trailed behind Feng Yuan, carrying Pomiti on its back. Standing at the rear of the group, Kong Qing, with the sleeping Little Ice Cream in tow, kept a watchful eye to ensure Pomiti didn’t wander off.

Belusir surveyed the area. Like the last little town, this one was also encircled by flowers. Even the quaint, rustic train station was adorned with floral decorations. Along the way, it had glimpsed the fates of many individuals. Yet, as mere strangers, it had no interest in intervening.

Yang Hongzhi and his group’s fates seemed to be in flux. To its surprise, Belusir couldn’t discern their destinies clearly. Perhaps a monumental shift was just around the corner.

If Feng Yuan was the cause of all this, then what about the fates of the others? Belusir hadn’t been closely monitoring the tourists, but occasional glimpses revealed subtle changes. Had it been wrong all along? Troubled, Belusir wondered. Just then, Veronia suddenly picked up the white-cat-shaped Belusir and said,

"He won’t deceive us on important matters. So why not try trusting him?"

"But... If that’s true, then... doesn’t that mean I’ve..."

Swishing its tail anxiously, Belusir thought back to its old friends. If true, hadn’t it harmed them? Setting Belusir down, Veronia said,

"Perhaps this is just part of destiny? Besides, who hasn’t made mistakes?"

Gazing at the night sky, Veronia couldn’t help but recall Mitradite from years ago. At that time, had she done anything right?

"Should we let them stay in Kong Qing’s space?"

At the campsite, Feng Yuan looked up at the trembling Flower Leaf Tree Three Spirit Beasts perched on the Amu Tree’s canopy and asked. After glancing at Kong Qing, Qi Chen shook his head, replying,

"Forget it. They don’t even dare approach Kong Qing. How could we put them inside? Besides, there aren’t many people around here."

Although they had set up camp in a secluded spot, there were still plenty of other tourists nearby. The three little beings were understandably terrified. Along the way, they had encountered numerous Spirit Beasts brought out by other travelers, and the unfamiliar creatures had clearly left the timid trio on edge.

"You’ve got a point. Never mind; I’ll pitch my tent farther away."

After glancing at Qi Chen, who was busy setting up his tent, Feng Yuan grabbed his belongings and moved further away since the trio seemed especially wary of the Spirit Beasts around him.

Long Boduo surveyed the flower fields and said,

"I’m going to take a stroll nearby. I’ll be back by morning."

"You’re not resting?"

Surprised, Feng Yuan glanced at Long Boduo. Although he was a Divine Beast, that didn’t mean he didn’t need rest; at most, he could go without sleep for a few days. Brimming with excitement, Long Boduo responded,

"No need! It looks like there’s a lot of fun stuff nearby~"

Saying that, Long Boduo jogged off, leaving Feng Yuan shaking his head. He didn’t stop him, though, since Long Boduo’s strength made safety a non-issue. As for the supposed fun activities? The Send Wind Festival wasn’t a surprise event, and there were bound to be plenty of interesting things. Besides, night owls were hardly rare; it wasn’t like they’d run out of things to do.

Yawning, Feng Yuan turned to Agunas and the others and said,

"You can go have fun too if you want. Just make sure you’re back before tomorrow morning’s activities start; otherwise, I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to find you."

He didn’t need to think twice to know there would be a crowd tomorrow. Agunas and the others wouldn’t be able to pinpoint his location in the throng either. Belusir, lying nearby, gazed at the crowd at the foot of the hill and remarked,

"I’m fine staying here."

"That sort of thing doesn’t interest me. It’s boring."

Pulling out a book, Agunas remarked dryly. Veronia touched her finger to the ground, summoning a massive golden flower that emerged from the earth. Feng Yuan sighed at the ostentatious, slightly blinding Crystal Flower and said,

"Could you move that thing further away? With it glowing like a huge lightbulb, I won’t be able to sleep."

Letting out a soft chuckle, Veronia dimmed the Crystal Flower’s glow and sat on it, saying,

"No problem; it doesn’t have to shine."

Glancing at the golden glimmers reflecting off the flower in the dark, Feng Yuan shook his head and turned back to working on his tent.
