Chapter 999: 1000 Chapters Upstream Along the Creek

"Are you guys done yet?"

The Little Husky plummeted from the sky and smacked into the ground with a plop, then stood up and shook its body, looking at Qi Chen and the others as it asked. They were somewhat speechless as they gently patted the dirt off the Little Husky’s fur and said,

"You’re... okay after that?"

"No problem, this height is nothing~"

Wagging its tail proudly, the Little Husky said. Xiao Ji swooped down, eagerly checking on the Little Husky’s condition, pushing away Xiao Ji’s head trying to turn it over to look at its belly, the Little Husky said with some helplessness,

"Okay, okay, I’m fine, stop it."

Xiao Ji chirped unhappily at the Little Husky. Just when it was flying quite well, the Little Husky had suddenly asked to descend, jumping off its back and giving it quite a fright. Agunas floated by, looking at Feng Yuan, and said without words,

"You really are something, you know. Someone who doesn’t know any better would be scared by you."

It noticed he fell straight from the sky, although the impact was slightly reduced at the last moment, it was still frightful. After all, most people don’t know about his strength. Changing back to his human form, Feng Yuan hugged Xiao Ji and asked,

"Why? Is it so easy to get scared?"

Qi Chen glanced at Feng Yuan and said with irritation,

"What’s with you suddenly dropping from the sky like that?"

"Isn’t it faster like this~ You guys done? How about taking a walk upstream along the river?"

He had been to Cotton Orchid Manor not just once, the downside of being too familiar with a place is that he had grown tired of all its facilities. Cen Chudie looked at the Cotton Orchid Spirit Beasts and said,

"Wait, let’s first send them back to that house over there, so they don’t accidentally wander over there and disrupt them."

Although these Cotton Orchid Spirit Beasts wouldn’t actively attack people or cause trouble, they might bumble into a team’s training and interrupt them. Veronia walked over, heard this, and waved her hand, saying,

"Go back now."

Watching those Cotton Orchid Spirit Beasts run towards a nearby cottage, Cen Chudie looked at Veronia with some surprise. Knowing that although Cotton Orchid Spirit Beasts are generally gentle, the differences in their evolutionary forms meant varied temperaments; some are timid, others curious, some lazy. It was quite challenging to command them to act orderly, so seeing Veronia manage it with ease was unexpected.

Veronia looked at Cen Chudie, head held high with pride, and said,

"A trivial matter. But, when you say head upstream, did you find something interesting?"

Seeing Veronia’s gaze fixed on him, Feng Yuan shook his head and said,

"No, there’s nothing. I was just curious about a small creek upstream that seemed hidden in the woods. Besides, I’ve been through everything in the manor. Don’t you think it’d be fun to do some outdoor cooking?"

"Outdoor cooking, huh? We’ll need to prepare some things."

Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Cen Chudie sighed and said, the manor indeed had the corresponding equipment for camp cooking and even camping, but they were seldom used. Although the tourists could borrow them, once they went beyond the boundaries of the manor, their safety couldn’t be guaranteed; they would be taking their own risks.

Even though Cotton Orchid Manor is near a major city thoroughfare, there are no dangerous wild areas around, but there is still a certain level of risk. And most visitors to the manor are there to have fun with their children, naturally, they wouldn’t go out of their way to look for trouble.

"I’ll get those things; the Little Crocodile is too scatterbrained to be reliable."

As Veronia spoke, she turned and gave Agunas a challenging look. Agunas flicked its tail unhappily and retorted,

"What do you mean, ’scatterbrained’?"

"Who was it that forgot to bring the beach chairs and umbrellas?"

Veronia revealed a peculiar smile and said, glaring at Veronia, Agunas said somewhat angrily,

"Are you joking with me?! If he doesn’t have these things, how do you expect me to bring them?!"

Seeing Veronia and Agunas start to argue again, Cen Chudie whispered in Feng Yuan’s ear,

"Is this really okay? They’re not going to actually fight, right?"

Shrugging, Feng Yuan laughed and said,

"I can’t help it, they’ve fought before, and now they’re relatively calm."

At least now, though they bicker, they aren’t dashing off to the Starry Sky to battle each other anymore. Otherwise, he guessed Gitalien would come out and scold them again. In fact, he didn’t quite understand why Agunas and Veronia seemed to have such animosity towards each other.

"What’s going on over there?"

Suddenly, he heard a warning roar, and Feng Yuan asked in surprise. The voice was deep, but that direction was where the military academy’s special recruits were, right? Could it be that some wild Spirit Beast had foolishly provoked them?

Cen Chudie’s face changed upon hearing the familiar cry, and she hurried toward its source.

"Sorry, sorry, it thought you folks were the bad guys, so..."

Cen Chudie apologized to the leading soldier, while the Venomous Salamander laid at her feet looking guilty. Its little eyes constantly surveyed these strangers. Unlike tourists, these people were all dressed alike. Coupled with their strength, it mistook them for attackers.

Feng Yuan surveyed the Venomous Salamander curiously and said,

"This is the same Venomous Salamander from before, right? It’s still here?"

After glancing at Feng Yuan, Cen Chudie continued to apologize. Scratching his head, Feng Yuan looked at the students opposite him. They were merely curiously observing the Venomous Salamander. As for being scared or something else by it? If that were the case, then they wouldn’t be regarded highly by the military at all, would they?

After a while, Cen Chudie took the Venomous Salamander aside. Seeing it looking upset, Cen Chudie chuckled and patted its rough head, saying,

"You didn’t do it on purpose. I forgot to tell you that there would be people coming over these days for... training."

"Don’t be sad."

Gently patting its forehead, Cen Chudie added,

"Alright, no need to be heartbroken. Let’s go, we were just about to head out. How about you join us?"

Seeing that Feng Yuan was still staring at her, Cen Chudie smiled and explained,

"The little lizard healed up and has been sticking close to me ever since. It absolutely refuses to leave, and since I haven’t decided on my second Beast Tamer contract yet, so..."

Hearing the term "little lizard," the little creature lying atop Rainbow Bubbles looked up, puzzled, toward Cen Chudie. She didn’t notice, or perhaps she didn’t realize that Feng Yuan’s side also had a Spirit Beast with the same nickname.

"Yo, so you even got a bargain out of it," Feng Yuan said with a mischievous grin. Although he said that, it was obviously the care from the past and the attention Cen Chudie showed during treatment that had influenced it. The Venomous Salamander, after all, was an Elite Level Spirit Beast with toxic potential. Their inherent potency made them quite strong, and even if they weren’t charming to look at, many Beastmasters were perfectly willing to accept them for their strength.

Glancing at Feng Yuan, Cen Chudie shook her head and did not respond. To be honest, if the Venomous Salamander wasn’t so insistent, she probably wouldn’t have signed the Taming Beast Contract with it, since she wasn’t planning on following the path of a Beastmaster but rather wanted to continue her Potion research and become a Spiritualist. Natural racial strengths of the creatures weren’t that important to her.

But since the Venomous Salamander had acknowledged her, she wouldn’t push it away. The little Venomous Salamander glanced at Cen Chudie and issued a low cry, from which Feng Yuan could discern a sense of joy.

"You little rascal..."

Qi Chen looked speechlessly at the Little Husky hiding in his backpack, its dog-nose peeking out and paws perched on the edge of the bag, proudly grinning at him. Big Cat walked ahead with Pomiti settled atop his head, and Little Ice Cream curled up into a ball, snoozing on top as if it were a hat.

Waving its dog paws, Little Husky declared,

"This is a different kind of travel experience!"

"You’re just being lazy."

"Who says so? Besides, Big Cat agreed as well!"

Hearing Feng Yuan’s comment, Big Cat let out a woof as if agreeing with him. Xiao Ji followed close behind Big Cat; it really wanted to carry that backpack, but unlike Big Cat, it struggled to maintain balance with the bag on its back. After all, Big Cat had Telekinesis and was accustomed to running on solid ground, whereas Xiao Ji was gradually getting used to the feeling of flying.

Yun You and Cen Chudie walked together behind, exchanging smiles at the scene. Agunas glanced at Veronia, dressed in a western-style gown, and said,

"Can’t you change your outfit?"

Veronia glanced back at Agunas with disdain and retorted,

"What’s wrong with wearing this?"

She wasn’t bothered by terrain. And as for the limitation of her strides? She could simply float if she needed to.
