Chapter 333: Chapter 333: Bleeding, Threatened Miscarriage
Huo Qingzhou was rendered speechless by her retort.
An Ge continued:
"Remember the promise you made to me. Help me find out about Gu Changfeng’s situation as soon as possible. Otherwise, I’ll make sure that ridiculous little procedure you had done at the hospital becomes the hottest gossip in all of M City, courtesy of Lady Wen and her big mouth."
Huo Qingzhou: "..."
Before Huo Qingzhou could erupt in fury, An Ge decisively hung up the phone.
Of course, when Huo Qingzhou called her back, she simply refused to pick up.
Not long after An Ge ended the call, Dr. Anna came to check on her.
After conducting a thorough examination, Dr. Anna asked, "It seems like you’re planning to reconcile with President Huo?"
An Ge sipped from a glass of warm water and replied, "Most likely, yes."
Dr. Anna followed up, "So you’ve decided to keep the baby, then?"
After a moment of thought, An Ge said, "Actually, as long as I cooperate with the prenatal exams, the baby could be safely delivered..."
Dr. Anna gave her a rather complicated look and said, "If you’re sure about having the baby, then I’ll support you."
An Ge smiled at her gratefully. "I’ll be counting on you for the prenatal exams going forward."
Dr. Anna stayed in An Ge’s room for less than fifteen minutes before preparing to leave for the day.
As she exited the room, she ran into Lin Keke at the door.
It was Dr. Anna’s first time meeting Lin Keke.
Anna was startled by how much Lin Keke resembled An Ge and couldn’t help but give her a closer look before asking, "And you are...?"
Lin Keke responded with a simple introduction, "Hello, Dr. Anna. I’m Lin Keke. I’ve come specifically to visit Mrs. Huo."
Saying this, she lifted a bamboo basket in her hand, filled with a few impressive-looking old ginseng roots, and added,
"President Huo purchased these ginseng roots from me. He asked me to bring them over directly to Mrs. Huo."
Dr. Anna didn’t overthink it. She gave Lin Keke a nod before turning to leave.
Afterward, Lin Keke knocked on the door and entered An Ge’s hospital room.
She approached An Ge with great respect, even a hint of deference, and said,
"Mrs. Huo, I originally wanted to gift these ginseng roots to you, but after President Huo learned about my family’s financial struggles, he insisted on paying ten times their market price before agreeing to take them..."
She paused briefly before continuing,
"I’m so grateful for his generosity that I felt compelled to personally deliver them to you."
An Ge was impressed by Lin Keke’s demeanor, so she didn’t overthink the late-night delivery of the ginseng roots.
She instructed Nanny Lin to accept the ginseng before saying,
"I heard you injured your arm badly while saving President Huo. With the new school term approaching, you should focus on recovering so you don’t fall behind in your studies."
Lin Keke nodded, saying,
"Thank you for your concern, Mrs. Huo. I’ll make sure to recover well so I won’t be a burden to anyone."
After a short pause, she continued, "Mrs. Huo, please rest early. I won’t disturb you further."
Lin Keke left An Ge’s hospital room not long after and returned to her own.
No sooner had she entered her room than her gambling-addicted mother, Ms. Yang, rushed up to her, asking, "Well? Did you get the money?"
Seeing Ms. Yang instantly irritated Lin Keke, and she said, "I beg of you, could you please stop bothering me?"
Ms. Yang’s face turned red with anger at those words.
"You heartless wretch! I raised you on my own with so much effort, and now that you’ve gotten into college and attached yourself to a wealthy family, you’re turning your back on me?
Let me tell you, if you dare to abandon me, I’ll post all your dirty little secrets online and see if that rich President Huo still wants trash like you..."
These words hit Lin Keke right where it hurt, making her lose control of her emotions instantly.
In her rage, Lin Keke smashed a glass cup, frightening Ms. Yang into instant silence.
Once Ms. Yang finally shut her mouth, Lin Keke forced herself to calm down. With a cold, expressionless face, she said to her,
"I’ll help pay off your 500,000 in gambling debts."
She paused for a moment before continuing,
"But from now on, without my permission, you are not allowed to contact me again. If you don’t follow this, even if the debt collectors kill you in the street, I won’t lift a finger to take care of your body."
After saying this, Lin Keke pulled a bank card from her pocket and threw it at Ms. Yang. "Get lost."
Now holding the money, Ms. Yang didn’t care about Lin Keke’s attitude anymore.
She quickly picked up the card that had fallen by her feet and cheerfully said to Lin Keke,
"Keke, take care of yourself and heal properly. I’ll leave now and won’t bother you again... heh heh..."
As soon as Ms. Yang left, Lin Keke made a call to Cui Zhu.
Cui Zhu answered, her voice curious. "So soon? Have you made up your mind?"
Lin Keke replied, "People always aim higher, just as water runs downhill. Some of the things you’ve said make sense. I’m willing to work with you."
Cui Zhu smirked and said,
"Good. From now on, we’re in the same boat."
She paused momentarily, then added with thinly veiled intent,
"Rest assured. As long as you do as I say, I guarantee you’ll be sharing President Huo’s bed within a month, with Mrs. Huo thoroughly under your feet."
From childhood until now, Lin Keke had never encountered a man as mature, wealthy, and irresistibly charming as Huo Shaoyan.
To be honest, it was love at first sight for her. She didn’t even dream of becoming Mrs. Huo; for her, just one night of joy with Huo Shaoyan would be enough.
Thus, Lin Keke confessed to Cui Zhu,
"I... know where I stand. I’ve never thought about having anything long-term with President Huo, and I’d be content just standing silently by his side..."
Cui Zhu interrupted her,
"Lin Keke, a woman without ambition is doomed to fail. Without ambition, nothing gets done..."
Cui Zhu’s words made Lin Keke hesitate. She said,
"But... it’s just too difficult. President Huo and Mrs. Huo already have twins, and now she’s pregnant with his child again. There’s no chance for me..."
Hearing this, An Muxin, who was standing next to Cui Zhu, immediately grew agitated and asked, "What did you just say?"
Lin Keke elaborated,
"I just returned from Mrs. Huo’s room. Earlier, outside her door, I accidentally overheard her conversation with Dr. Anna... From what they said, it’s not hard to figure out that Mrs. Huo is already pregnant..."
She paused, then continued,
"Apparently, President Huo is still in the dark about it. They don’t seem to be planning on telling him anytime soon."
After hearing this, An Muxin sealed her expression with cold determination and said, "We must find a way to get rid of this child. Under no circumstances can it be born..."
Lin Keke’s heart raced with fear. "I... I don’t want to. I won’t do anything so cruel and immoral..."
An Muxin cut her off:
"Didn’t your stepfather assault you when you were just fifteen? And hasn’t that disgusting scumbag constantly used it to blackmail you? Tell me, what do you think will happen if you refuse to cooperate with me?"
Lin Keke: "..."
Whenever An Muxin thought about her own unborn child—one that had nothing to do with Huo Shaoyan and which she couldn’t even abort because of Gu Changfeng’s threats—her rage flared uncontrollably.
Now, learning that An Ge was pregnant with Huo Shaoyan’s child made her even more furious.
There was no way An Muxin would allow An Ge’s child to be born alive.
But of course, eliminating An Ge’s unborn child wouldn’t be easy.
With this in mind, An Muxin turned to Lin Keke and said,
"This requires careful planning. Wait for my instructions."
After finishing her conversation with Lin Keke, An Muxin turned to Cui Zhu and said,
"If we can make Huo Shaoyan believe that An Ge’s baby belongs to another man, do you think he’ll still treat her kindly?"
Cui Zhu replied, "Miss, considering President Huo’s current obsession with An Ge, it might be quite difficult..."
An Muxin curled her lips into a sly smile.
"How hard could it be? I’ve heard that An Ge and Tang Jiuze have a rather hush-hush past. If we can manipulate circumstances to get them caught in bed together by Huo Shaoyan,
do you think Huo Shaoyan will still believe her? I’m sure his first reaction will be to demand the abortion of her child..."
An Muxin chuckled darkly to herself, pleased with her audacious idea. Her laughter was eerie and chilling.
She instructed Cui Zhu,
"Make arrangements for this. But remember, under no circumstances should our identities be exposed."
Cui Zhu replied, "Understood."
...
For three consecutive days, everything remained calm.
On the afternoon of the fourth day, Huo Shaoyan was finally able to get out of bed.
The very first thing he wanted to do was find An Ge.
For the past three days, An Ge hadn’t visited him, not even once.
Anger seethed within him, and it wouldn’t subside until he saw her.
Sitting in a wheelchair, he ordered Qin Lang to take him to her neighboring hospital room.
An Ge’s door was ajar.
At the doorway, Huo Shaoyan gestured for Qin Lang to help him stand, intending to walk in himself.
After Qin Lang helped him out of the wheelchair, Huo Shaoyan took a moment to steady himself and manage the pain in his abdomen before instructing Qin Lang:
"Wait for me outside. You don’t need to follow me in."
Realizing that the boss wanted some private time with his wife, Qin Lang didn’t press further. "Understood, sir."
After that, Huo Shaoyan raised his hand to push open the door and entered.
But the hospital bed inside was empty—neither An Ge nor Nanny Lin was in sight.
Frowning, he wondered where they could have gone, when he suddenly heard faint noises from the bathroom—a mix of what sounded like pain and pleasure, coming from both a man and a woman.
The sounds were so suggestive that without a second thought, Huo Shaoyan strode towards the bathroom.
Its door was closed, but through the frosted glass, he could vaguely make out two intertwined shadows.
As though afraid to confirm a reality he couldn’t bear, Huo Shaoyan’s steps faltered,
and even his breathing seemed to halt.
Through the frosted glass of the bathroom door, his Phoenix Eyes burned scarlet as he stared inside, his entire throat choked as if stuffed with heavy cotton. He wanted to speak, but no sound came out.
Soon, voices began to emerge from inside—a conversation between a man and a woman.
"How are you feeling?"
"Can you move?"
"Do you need me to carry you out?"
The man spoke with obvious urgency.
As soon as he heard the first word, Huo Shaoyan recognized the voice—it was Tang Jiuze’s.
Moments later, An Ge’s voice filtered through the frosted glass, cutting into Huo Shaoyan’s dazed mind,
"I... I think I’m bleeding. I can’t move..."
These words made Tang Jiuze’s pupils visibly contract in shock from within the bathroom.
His gaze shifted downward to An Ge’s legs, which were peeking out from beneath her robe. A thin, crimson streak of blood was slowly trailing down her pale, slender calves.
An Ge seemed to be enduring tremendous pain, her face drenched in cold sweat, her complexion disturbingly ashen.
"Why are you bleeding? Are you pregnant? Is this... a threatened miscarriage?"
