Disheartened, I Fled from the CEO with Our Babies
Chapter 267: She’s Pregnant

Chapter 267: Chapter 267: She’s Pregnant

His entire mind felt as if it had been hit by a flash of white light, blank and devoid of any content in those brief seconds.

Xiao Chaofeng, not waiting for his response, continued, "I don’t have time to worry about your woman, you go find her yourself."

Finally, Huo Shaoyan found his voice, "What happened to her?"

Xiao Chaofeng abruptly hung up on him.

Huo Shaoyan didn’t hesitate for a moment and was about to head out of the ward when An Muxin’s voice called from behind him.

An Muxin said, "If you go looking for her now, you’ll completely lose the upper hand."

Huo Shaoyan paused at An Muxin’s words.

He turned around, his gaze falling on An Muxin’s face.

An Muxin looked at him calmly and pointedly said,

"Frankly, she’s not who she used to be. Behind her are not only Lu Huai’an, who silently supports her, and Huo Qingzhou, who shields her, but even Tang Jiuze would sacrifice everything for her. If you weren’t of use to her, why would she come to you? Your relationship is strained now; she’s just trying to test you. She has an adopted son, and a sick adopted daughter. She loves her kids so much; how could she allow her own life to be threatened?"

Huo Shaoyan felt there was some truth to An Muxin’s words and dismissed the thought of going downstairs to find An Ge.

Seeing this, An Muxin continued,

"She’s already made it clear she doesn’t love you. Isn’t chasing her just inviting trouble for yourself? Since you’re already having second thoughts about giving her up, why not do it more thoroughly?"

After a pause, "She actually needs you, and as long as you stay put, she’ll eventually come to you for help."

...

On the other side.

An Ge waited downstairs for nearly a quarter of an hour, but when Huo Shaoyan didn’t show up, she realized this so-called ’self-sacrifice’ trick was useless.

She withdrew her gaze from the traffic in front of her and stepped back to a safe area.

Turning around, her eyes met with Xiao Chaofeng, who had just finished a phone call not far away.

Xiao Chaofeng squinted, his eyes full of undisguised mockery.

An Ge heard him say,

"Acted to the point of death, didn’t you? Looks like you could drop dead in front of him, and he’d still ignore you."

An Ge curled her lips, smiling as she responded,

"I guess I just wasn’t ruthless enough, so he thought he had enough capital to act arrogant."

Xiao Chaofeng raised an eyebrow,

"You’re speaking in riddles, huh? What, you still holding a trump card? Is that Huo Chenghuan really his biological daughter? I wasn’t wrong, was I?"

With a half-smile, An Ge said to him, "Master Xiao, make some time for a wedding drink. I’m planning a flash marriage."

Xiao Chaofeng’s eyelid twitched at those words, "Flash marriage? With who?"

An Ge’s smile widened, and she said casually, "His older brother, Huo Qingzhou."

"..."

Xiao Chaofeng found himself unable to smile, and after a moment, he said, "So, Huo Qingzhou is your biggest trump card?"

An Ge ignored him and turned towards the parking lot.

Watching her walk away, Xiao Chaofeng caught up, cursing as he called out to her,

"Are you hell-bent on creating a casualty before you’re satisfied?"

An Ge replied calmly, "Master Xiao, don’t be so dramatic. I’m just getting married; how could that lead to a tragedy?"

Xiao Chaofeng’s face darkened as he said,

"You can marry anyone you want, but not Huo Qingzhou. Don’t you know Huo Shaoyan and he are sworn enemies? Marrying Huo Qingzhou is like forcing Huo Shaoyan to bloody his hands."

An Ge frowned, giving Xiao Chaofeng a deep look, and said,

"If Huo Shaoyan really cared as much as you think, he wouldn’t let me successfully marry Huo Qingzhou."

After a pause,

"So please, go tell him yourself that if he doesn’t see me, I’ll have to cling to Huo Qingzhou’s coattails and declare war on him."

Xiao Chaofeng: "..."

An Ge thought that once she put out the word, Huo Shaoyan would definitely come looking for her.

But in fact, she waited until evening, and Huo Shaoyan never appeared.

Not only did he not show up, but he also didn’t even call.

As time passed, An Ge became increasingly anxious.

Anna’s call heightened her anxiety, "Leo, something happened to Young Master Huo, Huo Qingzhou."

An Ge’s heart jumped to her throat, "What happened?"

"Car accident."

An Ge steadied herself and asked, "How is he?"

Anna said, "There’s no threat to his life, but his lower back is severely injured; he’ll have to stay in bed for a while."

An Ge asked, "Was it Huo Shaoyan’s doing?"

Anna responded, "According to Young Master Huo, it seems so."

After pondering for a moment, An Ge said, "I’m going to see him."

Anna asked, "Weren’t you flying to the Imperial City tonight? If you come to the hospital now, you might miss the flight."

"Forget the flight to the Imperial City for now."

Half an hour later, An Ge appeared in Huo Qingzhou’s hospital room.

When she knocked and entered, Huo Qingzhou was lying on his stomach, talking on the phone, while medical staff cautiously tended to his injury.

Whatever the person on the other end of the line said, Huo Qingzhou erupted in fury,

"Useless!"

"How can someone just disappear without a trace?"

"Find them, or I’ll chop all of you down!"

An Ge walked to his bedside, and as he hung up, Huo Qingzhou glanced up at her, "What did you do to provoke Huo Shaoyan?"

An Ge innocently recounted the events and said,

"Didn’t you say we were going to get married by agreement? I just spread a little word..."

"’A little’?" Huo Qingzhou coldly interrupted her.

His attitude was extremely harsh,

"Could you give me a heads-up before you go blabbering to the world? At least inform me, so I wouldn’t get blindsided by Huo Shaoyan like this."

An Ge defended herself, "I warned you long ago; you’re not his match. See, with just one move, he has you bedridden for half a month."

Huo Qingzhou was infuriated by her claim, "Are you trying to drive me to an early grave?"

Looking at him, An Ge, although slightly guilty, dared to say brazenly,

"Luckily, we haven’t actually registered our marriage. If you were to die here, I really wouldn’t be able to shirk off the blame."

Huo Qingzhou was so angry he couldn’t speak.

An Ge continued, "You’re dying before the mission even started..."

Before she could finish, Huo Qingzhou mercilessly cut her off,

"Say one more word I don’t want to hear and see what happens. Do you believe I won’t call Huo Shaoyan right now and expose you?"

An Ge shut her mouth.

Just then, Huo Qingzhou’s subordinate called in, informing him,

"Young Master, it’s been confirmed. Miss Qimeng left the hospital voluntarily and went with President Huo’s people."

Huo Qingzhou angrily ended the call.

Afterward, he said to An Ge,

"I’m giving you the night to bring Huo Qimeng back to me, or I’ll expose everything to Huo Shaoyan."

An Ge: "..."

Huo Qingzhou continued, "I’m not joking."

An Ge: "Huo Qingzhou, you’re putting lust over duty!"

Huo Qingzhou was in a terrible mood and said, "Huo Qimeng is pregnant."

An Ge’s eyes widened in shock, "She’s pregnant?"

Huo Qingzhou: "Judging by the date, it should be mine." After a pause, "So, she can’t be harmed."

...

After some inquiries, she found out that Huo Shaoyan went to the Huo Mansion tonight.

[Huo Mansion] An Ge appeared at the gate an hour later.

The night was stifling, as if it were about to rain.

An Ge was stopped by the gatekeeper, "Sorry, young master ordered not to let you in."

An Ge called Mrs. Huo, and soon after, Mrs. Huo personally came to the gate, inviting her inside.

An Ge didn’t hide anything from Mrs. Huo, recounting the events and saying,

"No matter if you acknowledge Huo Zhenwei as your son or not, Huo Qingzhou is undeniably your grandson. If this issue is left to fester, it will just cause a feud between the brothers. So, I mishandled this, but I..."

Mrs. Huo understood An Ge’s difficulties.

She sighed and said,

"It’s not entirely your fault. When it comes down to it, the Huo Family still owes you."

Then she said,

"Huo Shaoyan took Huo Qimeng away, mainly to force you to come find him. He’s at the East Garden now, you should go see him."

An Ge had spent some time living at the East Garden of the Huo Mansion before.

She swiftly navigated her way through the familiar surroundings and entered the retro arched gateway of the East Garden.

Age-old sycamore trees cast thick, heavy shadows.

An Ge walked through a large area beneath these trees, arriving at an ancient well where she saw Huo Shaoyan drawing water.

He wore nothing but a white tank top on his upper body and black shorts below, his feet in flip-flops. Bending slightly, after filling a bucket with water, he glanced at her out of the corner of his eye.

An Ge’s gaze met his, and she was just about to say something when he withdrew his gaze from her face.

He was clearly refusing any interaction.

An Ge steeled herself and approached him, trying to break the silence, "Can we talk?"

As she spoke, the man lifted the bucket and poured it over his head.

In an instant, he was soaked from head to toe, the water streaming down his handsome face, rendering his expression even colder and more inscrutable.

When he began to draw a second bucket of water, An Ge stepped forward, gripping the rope in his hand, "I heard from Uncle Fu that you like to bathe with well water. Let me help you?"

She tried to lower her stance, find a topic, and create a connection between them.

But as soon as she touched the rope, he grabbed her wrist and yanked her away.

Under the night sky and in the lamplight, his gaze was as icy as if it had been tempered with ice.

Finally, he spoke.

"Why did you come to see me?"

For no reason at all, An Ge felt a swell of grievance in her heart.

She looked at him, and her eyes quickly reddened with the sting of tears.

Huo Shaoyan’s Phoenix Eyes narrowed deeply, and his voice remained cold as he said,

"Save your pity. Your grievances are cheap and worthless to me."
