Chapter 205: Chapter 205: Post-Coital Contraceptives

Fu Rou had not yet learned about An Baoying’s abuse of Huo Huaisang.

This morning, An Baoying called her, crying, to say that due to An Ge’s instigation, she was grounded by Huo Shaoyan and unable to celebrate Huo Huaisang’s birthday. She hoped Fu Rou could intervene on her behalf.

Fu Rou had always known Huo Huaisang deeply longed for maternal love, and with his birthday approaching, she naturally couldn’t turn a blind eye to the situation. Thus, Fu Rou personally went to the An Family residence and brought An Baoying out. At this moment, she never expected to hear An Ge criticize An Baoying so harshly.

Hence, Fu Rou, in a fit of anger, said immediately after An Ge finished speaking, "Ms. An, you are a mother as well; please speak with some decency. Instigating discord between this mother and son in front of my grandson—does this reflect your upbringing?"

No sooner had she said this than Huo Huaisang tugged at her sleeve. His voice, though young and tender, carried a serious maturity, "Grandmother, Auntie isn’t lying."

At these words, An Baoying began to weep bitterly, crying and saying to Huo Huaisang, "Huaisang, Mommy has a very severe depression. I was deeply traumatized mentally; hurting you was never my intention. Can you forgive Mommy, please?"

In her speech, An Baoying pulled Huo Huaisang into her arms, crying as if she were genuinely repentant.

Huo Huaisang, who desperately longed for love, was a child who cherished feelings and loyalty. Even if An Baoying had hurt him more than once, he understood the bond of birth was greater than anything. He knew well that his attitude would determine An Baoying’s fate. Eventually, he softened and, before Fu Rou could scold An Baoying, he looked at her and said, "Grandmother, my birthday wish is to be with my mother."

Fu Rou, not wanting to reprimand An Baoying in front of Huo Huaisang, forced herself to hold back and said to An Baoying with a cold expression, "We’ll talk later."

An Baoying wiped her tear-swollen eyes, "Okay."

She shifted her gaze to An Ge, feigning delight, "An Ge, I’m so glad you’re still alive. Dad and mom have been worried about you. Now that you’re back, come visit sometime."

An Ge smiled and said, "Don’t worry, I will definitely go."

When she was about to leave, Fu Rou called out to her in a cold voice, "Ms. An, wisdom lies in knowing one’s place. I don’t like you at all, so please stay away from my son."

An Ge turned her head, looked at her and sneered, "How coincidental, I don’t like you either. Please take a detour when you see me next time."

After pausing for a moment, she continued, "As for staying away from your son, I’m afraid I can’t do that. After all, your son now is like a piece of sticky plaster, impossible to shake off."

Fu Rou was so angry that her facial features almost twisted, "You..."

As she spoke, she swung her arm toward An Ge’s face.

That was when Young Master Huo arrived.

His handsome face darkened, "What’s the commotion?"

An Ge recalled the past, the countless times Huo Shaoyan barely stood up for her, and smirked. She took the initiative and said to him, "President Huo, it’s really amusing, isn’t it? We’re history, yet Lady Fu still can’t move on. She’s really cut out to be that wicked mother-in-law, isn’t she?"

Pausing, she added pointedly, "Honestly, when things got unbearable between us back then, Lady Fu certainly played her part."

Huo Shaoyan felt a headache coming on.

An Ge’s unmistakable resentment was meant for him to hear.

He raised his hand, massaging his throbbing temples, and coldly warned Fu Rou, "I already told you five years ago, don’t interfere between her and me. Otherwise, our relationship as mother and son will end here."

An Ge didn’t care whether the current Huo Shaoyan was defending her or standing up for her. She wasn’t even interested in staying to listen, leaving promptly.

Her first action upon leaving was to call Huo Qingzhou, "Where are you?"

Huo Qingzhou had gone out last night and hadn’t returned. By now, he’d just woken up.

He’d gotten pretty drunk last night and vaguely remembered getting together with a woman, but at present, aside from himself, there was no woman in bed. It seemed that the ecstasy he’d shared with a woman was just his one-sided spring dream.

Leaning against the headboard, he rubbed the headache brought on by hangover, and in a somewhat hoarse voice, said, "I don’t know, got pretty drunk last night."

An Ge simply said, "Then sober up quickly and send me the address, I have matters to discuss with you."

Huo Qingzhou made an affirmative sound, pulled the cover off, and got out of bed.

After glancing at the hotel’s name, he sent the address to An Ge. While doing an unconscious sweep of the room, he caught sight of a bright red stain on the large bed that made his pupils shrink.

Damn it.

He generally prides himself on his moral integrity and adherence to boundaries. He typically engages only physically without emotional attachment. Even so, he stays clear of those too young and those seemingly purer than pure.

The really young ones gave him guilt, and the really clean ones left him with the dilemma of responsibility or lack thereof.

Huo Qingzhou was terribly vexed, contemplating whether to call someone to investigate the previous night’s surveillance and track down the woman when noise came from the bathroom side.

Huo Qingzhou’s eyebrows arched slightly as he hesitated whether to go over and greet whatever or whoever it was, when the bathroom door opened.

Upon seeing the girl’s face emerging from inside, his chest almost cracked open with anger.

His fiery temper flared sky-high in a flash, "Huo Qimeng?"

The girl was so startled when he shouted that her heart skipped a beat.

With a red face, she looked shyly at him, cautiously skirting against the wall toward the door space, "Un... uncle, I... I..."

Her hand reached the door handle, and as she turned it ready to flee, Huo Qingzhou caught her and dragged her back.

With that, he forcefully tossed her onto the large bed. As she was still catching her breath, he was already yanking her back to her feet.

His gaze was fierce, eyes blazing with smoldering fire, as if wanting to burn her alive.

Huo Qimeng was scared to death, her body quickly retreating against the wall to the inside, stuttering, "Last night I was working part-time at the bar and saw you were drunk, even getting tangled by two demon women. So... I chased them away out of goodwill, and also took you out of the bar, got you a room, and took care of you. Little did I expect you to..."

In a fit of anger, Huo Qingzhou punched the wall behind her, leaving a small indentation, his anger simmering, "Is the money I give you not enough? Why are you doing part-time work? You—attending the best dance academy in Jingcheng and yet out there fooling around!"

Huo Qimeng was mortified by his posture. Her eyes welled up with tears as she tried to explain, "No, I wasn’t fooling around. It’s just that... I accidentally lost my senior’s diamond necklace worth millions. The senior never liked me, and I was afraid she’d report me to the police to put me in jail, so I used all the living expenses you gave me to pay her back. For the remaining part, I planned to work to pay her in installments."

After listening to her explanation, Huo Qingzhou’s fury only grew greater, "Are you a foolish pig? It’s just a worthless stone. Couldn’t you call me, your guardian, when it was lost? Do I, in any way, appear incapable of paying for a worthless stone?"

With a pitiful gaze, Huo Shui looked at him, "No, uncle. I’m just afraid that you would scold me like you are now."

"..."

Damn it.

Truly a retribution.

No wonder he felt something amiss last night; his eyelids wouldn’t stop twitching.

Huo Qingzhou cursed under his breath, then with a cold face, walked out to the outdoor balcony to smoke a cigarette.

After finishing one, he returned with a sullen face.

Huo Qimeng watched him with a timid look and softly whispered, "Let’s just pretend nothing happened last night; I won’t tell anyone. I won’t even tell my mom..."

Before she could finish, Huo Qingzhou cut her off, "And how old are you now again?"

Huo Qimeng pursed her lips, "I just turned nineteen yesterday..."

Huo Qingzhou almost dropped dead on the spot.

He pinched his brows, "I will take responsibility for this."

Huo Qimeng felt her heart leap in shock, "Uh? What about Ms. Lu? Weren’t you two already discussing marriage plans?"

Huo Qingzhou was too bothered to care for her, instead calling his subordinate over.

Taking the emergency contraceptive pill from his subordinate’s hands, he poured a glass of water, then handed the pill to Huo Qimeng, "Take it. Once you’ve taken it, I’ll have Xiao Jiang take you to school."

After obediently swallowing the pill, before leaving, Huo Qimeng hesitated before speaking, "Uncle, I don’t actually need you to be responsible. I... I also don’t want to marry you because... because I have someone I like..."

"Do you even know what liking is?"

Huo Qimeng frowned, a little unhappy, "Well, I still don’t want to marry you. You have too many women; I don’t want to share with many women. I don’t like you; you don’t like me... Furthermore, you’ve been with lots of people; you’re not clean..."

Her words nearly shattered Huo Qingzhou’s perception of her as the gentle girl he thought he knew.

He couldn’t believe such words came from Huo Qimeng’s mouth.

Damn it, he felt like cursing again.

But before he could start, Huo Qimeng had already fled.

An Ge arrived fifteen minutes later.

By the time she stepped inside, Huo Qingzhou’s lungs seemed about to turn pitch black from the harsh tobacco smoke he was trailing. The room was filled with suffocating smoke.

An Ge frowned, "Weren’t you supposed to quit?"

Huo Qingzhou was consumed by a stinging headache, "I’m annoyed."

"What happened?"

Huo Qingzhou replied, "I slept with Huo Qimeng."

An Ge felt as though her ears experienced auditory hallucinations and took a while before composing her reaction, "And... what do you plan to do about it?"

"What’s there to plan?"

An Ge mused a bit, stating objectively, "Huo Zhenwei and your mother wouldn’t allow you to marry her."

Annoyed, Huo Qingzhou dismissed it, unwilling to pursue the topic further, "So, what’s your business with me?"

An Ge explained her intention, handing over a hair sample of Huo Huaisang to Huo Qingzhou, "I suspect that my son never died but was stolen by An Baoying and others during the fire five years ago. Please help me perform a DNA paternity test."

Huo Qingzhou arched an eyebrow, "Whose hair sample is this?"

An Ge said, "The sample is from Huo Shaoyan’s son, Huo Huaisang."

Huo Qingzhou squinted, "You suspect he’s your son?"

An Ge pursed her lips and said, "If An Baoying really did steal my son five years ago, then it couldn’t be otherwise." pausing momentarily, she added heavily, "I also hope he is."
