Disheartened, I Fled from the CEO with Our Babies -
Chapter 204: Scorching, Yearning
Chapter 204: Chapter 204: Scorching, Yearning
An Ge wanted to say that he wasn’t even as good as garbage, but she forced the words back down her throat.
She said impatiently, "President Huo, if you have something to say, just say it all at once. I still need to take care of the enrollment procedures for my children, I don’t have time to waste here with you."
Provoking An Ge wouldn’t be in his favor, so Huo Shaoyan quickly assessed the situation and distanced himself, saying, "The paternity test results for Huo Huaisang and me are out, and they prove she’s indeed the daughter of An Baoying and me. So, were the words you spoke at the hotel entrance last night just nonsense and lies?"
An Ge’s eyes widened slightly.
She didn’t immediately respond to Huo Shaoyan’s question.
Five years ago, after she gave birth to her eldest child, Sister Li cried and told her the whole truth, saying that the child An Baoying was carrying was not Huo Shaoyan’s, but hers was.
The fact that her daughter, Huo Chenghuan, was actually Huo Shaoyan’s child.
Reasonably speaking, Sister Li shouldn’t have lied to her.
But Huo Shaoyan was saying that the paternity test between him and Huo Huaisang was indisputable. What was going on?
Could it be that An Baoying was carrying Huo Shaoyan’s child as well?
If so, why did they switch her amniotic fluid sample?
And why would An Baoying abuse Huo Huaisang if he was her biological son?
There must be something fishy in all this.
In a matter of seconds, a thousand thoughts raced through An Ge’s mind.
She calmly pressed down all the confusion before asking Huo Shaoyan in return, "So, are you accusing me of lying? Do you think I’m deceiving you?"
Huo Shaoyan remained emotionally unperturbed as he replied, "I won’t rule out the possibility. After all, I wronged you back then, and after you came back from the brink of death, it’s impossible for you not to hate me. You might want to stir up trouble between me and An Baoying, and it’s not impossible that you want to use my hand to beat her."
An Ge gave him a deep look, then sneered, "Since you trust your An Baoying so much, why do you shamelessly come to find me?"
Huo Shaoyan answered without missing a beat, "Isn’t it obvious? I want to rekindle our old relationship."
An Ge laughed angrily at his words, "Rekindle our relationship? You really dare to think."
Huo Shaoyan was finally stirred by her mocking laughter, and he said in a low voice, "Why shouldn’t I dare? What I, Huo Shaoyan, set my sights on, I’ve never failed to obtain."
An Ge smirked, "President Huo, I’m a person, not a thing."
Huo Shaoyan replied with indifference, "It’s all the same. What I want, I will get."
An Ge didn’t want to waste her breath with him, "Please step aside, or I’ll call the police and report you for harassment."
Huo Shaoyan effortlessly retorted, "But the surveillance will only tell the police that you deliberately vandalized and damaged my multimillion-dollar luxury car."
An Ge laughed in anger, "Call the police, right? Let’s go report it with a great fanfare right now."
She pushed him away and stepped heavily on his foot with her high heel, "Stop following me. Seeing you just bothers me."
Huo Shaoyan didn’t take her warning seriously at all.
When she opened the car door and sat in the driver’s seat, he squeezed into the passenger seat at the same time.
While fastening his seatbelt, he shamelessly said, "Mrs. Huo, I haven’t finished speaking yet."
An Ge had already witnessed his shamelessness; this man was as persistent as a leech.
Going head-to-head with him did her no good.
She didn’t want to pay him any attention.
Just because she didn’t want to respond didn’t mean Huo Shaoyan would keep his mouth shut.
"Mrs. Huo, how much truth was in what you said at the hotel entrance last night?"
An Ge held back and retorted, "Why are you so sure I’m lying?"
Huo Shaoyan looked at her graceful profile and, without any emotional fluctuation, stated, "Because the paternity test between me and Huo Huaisang shows he’s the son of An Baoying and me; because the paternity test between me and your children shows they have no blood relation to me.
Yet, at the hotel entrance last night, you boldly claimed that five years ago, you were carrying my child, and An Baoying was not. But the facts proved otherwise."
When he finished speaking, An Ge coldly laughed.
Huo Shaoyan frowned, "What are you laughing at?"
An Ge’s voice was calm, but heavily laced with sarcasm, "Because our children died five years ago. Sister Li couldn’t escape the fire with the eldest and was burned alive. Our first son perished in the flames too. Wasn’t the charred remains of infants discovered in the building that burned down?
And it was you who led the search for this, didn’t you? Our daughter was stillborn due to lack of oxygen. So, our children were gone five years ago. The children now, I adopted."
An Ge spoke these words with a calmness.
But Huo Shaoyan listened, feeling his chest shaking violently.
He didn’t speak for a long while, his eyes red with intensity.
An Ge glanced at him from the corner of her eye, seemingly amused, "Are you still going to say that just because there’s no evidence, I’m making it up, still lying?"
Huo Shaoyan looked at her eye, which, despite the smile, held a hidden sheen of wetness, and his heart twisted hard.
After a long pause, he said hoarsely, "No. I believe you."
An Ge sighed in relief.
As long as Huo Shaoyan believed that Hou Chenghuan was not his daughter, she didn’t worry about him trying to take her.
She felt a little more at ease, but her mind was rapidly calculating one thing: confirming whether Huo Huaisang was actually An Baoying’s biological son.
After all, she firmly believed Sister Li wouldn’t lie to her.
If everything Sister Li said was true, then Huo Huaisang couldn’t possibly be An Baoying’s child, which also explained why An Baoying abused Huo Huaisang.
But if Huo Huaisang wasn’t An Baoying’s son, then whose child was he?
A certain thought was about to become clear—
Could it be that her son didn’t die back then, and for some reason, he was taken away from the fire by Bai Meilan and An Baoying?
An Ge was so excited by this thought that she couldn’t calm down.
After some efforts to control herself, she asked Huo Shaoyan without showing any emotion, "Your son, what kindergarten does he attend?"
She initiated the conversation with him, surprising Huo Shaoyan.
He raised an eyebrow, giving her a deep look before replying, "Royal Liya Academy International."
An Ge simply nodded, "This school is hard to enter. I was originally planning to send Ah Qian and Huanhuan there, but my qualifications weren’t enough. Admission here requires a marriage certificate..."
She hadn’t finished before Huo Shaoyan interrupted her, saying, "That’s easy. You can remarry me."
An Ge chuckled, "People don’t stumble into the same pit twice, especially when the first time nearly cost me my life. Even if I needed a marriage certificate, it wouldn’t be with you. My boyfriend dreams of being certified to work."
Huo Shaoyan’s face visibly darkened, but now he was adept at restraining his irritation, not acting out just because he was upset.
He said, "I have an old connection with the school’s board. If I stepped in, getting your children into school would just be a matter of asking."
Royal Liya Academy had the best safety facilities in all of Jingcheng, and An Ge prioritized safety over teaching quality when looking for a school for her children.
Since Huo Shaoyan offered to help, An Ge didn’t stand on ceremony with him.
She said, "Since President Huo is willing to help, I won’t be polite." After a brief pause, she added, "Can we go visit the school now?"
Huo Shaoyan nodded, "I’ll make a call to arrange it."
An Ge thanked him.
An hour later, under Huo Shaoyan’s arrangement, An Ge had toured Royal Liya Academy, and the principal personally received her.
After the tour, it was break time for the children.
An Ge’s gaze precisely locked onto Huo Huaisang, who was sitting alone in the corner, not participating in the activities.
Her eyes, after fixing on him, hesitated not a bit as she walked towards him.
A shadow fell in front of him, a soft breeze accompanying it, and a refreshing scent from the woman before him filled his nose.
This scent was similar to the one from that auntie at the hotel entrance last night.
Thinking this, Huo Huaisang instinctively raised his head.
His previously dull eyes lit up instantly upon seeing An Ge’s face.
He seemed a bit shy, actually wanting to call her "Aunt," but held back out of nervousness.
An Ge squatted down slightly, looking at him with gentle eyes, "Does the place where you were hurt still ache?"
Huo Huaisang shook his head and, after a moment, said, "It doesn’t hurt anymore."
An Ge looked at his pair of clear peach blossom eyes, eyes that resembled hers.
A storm raged in her heart, and with some emotional intensity, she asked, "Can I... can I hug you?"
Huo Huaisang felt he might have misheard, his eyes staring blankly at her.
In his eyes, An Ge saw a deep longing for maternal love, so strong and eager.
Feeling moved, she was about to bend down to hug him when An Baoying appeared.
An Baoying wasn’t alone; Fu Rou was with her.
When An Ge saw them approaching, she discreetly plucked a hair from Huo Huaisang’s head and stood up.
Fu Rou had already heard of An Ge’s miraculously returning alive, but seeing her in person was still shockingly akin to seeing a ghost.
She watched An Ge with extreme caution, pulling Huo Huaisang behind her in a guarded manner as soon as she reached him, and coldly looked at An Ge.
"What are you doing here?"
An Ge reminisced on Fu Rou’s past harsh treatment towards her, feeling a spiteful urge to provoke her.
With that thought in mind, she smiled mischievously, "Why can’t I be here? President Huo heard I was troubled about enrolling my children in school, so he brought me here to arrange schooling for them."
When An Baoying heard this, she stared at her in shock, "Children?"
To An Baoying’s mind, since An Ge’s son had been snatched away, she could at most survive with one child if she was incredibly blessed.
How could there be two?
An Ge absorbed An Baoying’s stunned expression before sneering, "Why can’t I have children? I heard that you only had Young Master Huo survive due to a difficult delivery. If so, why would you abuse him?"
