Chapter 89: Manners

At first, Umbu was pleased with the flavor.

Noa held the bottle steady, tilting it right for the smooth protein shake to pour out directly into his mouth.

The dragon gulped. He was swallowing eagerly, savoring each moment with a smile.

A perfect mix of sweetness and creaminess relaxed his muscles.

Food calmed him.

It was the only thing that worked on him.

But his tail swirled around aimlessly, and even his claws flexed once.

His wings were a different breed.

They flipped, as if he would start flying at any moment, creating swirling qi behind him. Yet the taste wasn’t the only thing the shakes had.

Suddenly, after relaxing his muscles, the elixir started strengthening them.

The nutrition proved its value.

Time ticked by, and Umbu didn’t want to stop.

Every minor or major fiber found energy from the shake, burning it like a fuel to boost his bodily functions.

His cells were multiplied by the second.

His horns glowed, and his tail lashed with weight, resonating with a loud thud on the floor.

"You are doing good," Noa whispered, helping him.

Umbu forgot to breathe.

But after chugging the final gulp, he exhaled deeply, glancing at Noa with approval.

The little creature looked pleased.

Protein shakes had a huge amount of qi in them, providing him with his favourite treat—one that helped develop his baby body.

Then he sat back on Noa’s shoulder.

As always, his belly looked fatter, rounder.

On the other hand, his limbs, especially his legs, looked tougher, creating the image of a dragon that liked to work out.

Suddenly, he opened his mouth and let out a loud burp.

"Brrrp—hik!"

Noa glared at him immediately, shooing the foul scent off his face.

"That’s some bad manners. We need to work on that," he said, warning the dragon to have some elegance.

Noa also noticed something else.

’He didn’t break through. And I don’t think it’s close either,’ he thought, noticing Umbu’s lack of progress in the cultivation department.

But Noa wasn’t alarmed because of it.

Mia faced the same problem—her advancement was stalled because of her talent.

Using one or two lesser-ranked products didn’t cut it for her, and turns out, Umbu would have to deal with the same situation.

Nevertheless, Noa knew it was more of a good thing rather than a bad one.

It just meant that even items that were considered divine in this world had a limited effect on two people he cared deeply about.

So he grinned, pleased because of this revelation.

Though he also noted to find better ways to aid their progress.

However, Umbu had one more condition that distinguished him from Mia, creating an even more unique case.

It was the fact that he could also wield mana.

The dragon was a two-circle mage.

And even though he had yet to cast any spells, he would eventually have to learn and grow his magical side as well.

Shaking his head, Noa wanted to see the future.

He knew it would be entertaining with countless interesting things to do.

Then he glanced at the slime.

It was slithering between his legs, waiting for his command.

’Puff. Let’s see what it can do,’ he thought, taking the second bottle out of the tray.

The greedy dragon was about to snatch it from his hands when Karma struck him, freezing him in place.

This was the moment.

A time when Umbu realized that his father could be scarier than he looked.

Lowering his head, the dragon watched silently as Noa extended a plastic straw to the slime.

Noa wanted to test it again.

To see if Puff could drink it this way.

Puff opened his mouth, showing an abyss-like nothingness inside.

’It’s my first time seeing it,’ he realized, studying the sheer volume of the vastness that hid inside the slime.

At least the abyss didn’t look back at him.

It was silent, unmoving.

A bit chilly, perhaps, but it allowed Noa to find something interesting about his creature.

But he stopped quickly.

Because everyone who had tried studying nothingness would agree that it quickly gets boring, maybe maddening even.

So he put the straw inside its mouth, waiting for the miracle to happen.

Surprisingly, Puff’s eyes widened with a smile before it began sipping the shake through the straw.

"Puff is doing it," Yun Qiqi exclaimed.

She even jumped, surprise and excitement flashing across her face.

"I didn’t think he would even drink that. Look, he keeps going. Maybe he likes it," she said, circling the slime to take a better look.

Qing Xuan and Xue Hanly also noticed it.

It was quite comical.

Watching how a blob of mass that looked like a jelly grew in size with each gulp was indeed a strange sight.

The girls didn’t know what to think.

Where would they have seen such a sight if it wasn’t for Noa?

The same trail of thoughts appeared in the guards’ minds, and unable to comprehend what was going on, they constantly exchanged glances.

Puff, meanwhile, didn’t even bat an eye.

Compared to Umbu, he was drinking slowly, savoring every moment.

A soft slurp sound hung in the air.

The slime was absorbing qi as well, a long thread of qi filling his core, making his transparent body pulse in colors.

Qi sparked inside.

Each thread coiled tighter, growing tiny bubbles inside.

Suddenly, Puff stopped at one color.

It lasted for a minute, proudly displaying his green form to Noa until it changed to blue.

Then came red, purple, yellow...

Even its shades were different each time, embodying all seven elements.

"I think he is done," Yun Qiqi said, patting the slime. She acted like she was praising Puff, sharing her warmth with giggles.

Umbu saw it.

He pouted instantly, glaring at the pair with annoyance.

Amidst the cuteness that was happening around him, Noa’s eye peered inside the nothingness again.

Now it was easier for him to see the slime’s core.

Yet, there was no apparent progress to it, as if Puff was completely immune to the shake.

Just then, the hallway door creaked open. Mo Yuhua stepped in, watching the unusual scene with one hand rubbing her forehead.
