Chapter 62: Portal

The cooldown for using the portal was 24 hours.

If it were Noa when he first teleported into this world, he would have had no means of bringing Mia back at the same time every day.

But signing her deepened their connection.

Also, when the system was left to get punished, it left knowledge in Noa’s head.

It was instinctual information he hadn’t even noticed existed in his head.

The biggest challenge with cross-dimensional teleportation was to align the timing, especially if time was this weird, random thing that lacked consistency.

It moved sometimes faster, sometimes slower.

But every now and then, Noa noticed something strange—something that defied the very rules of time itself.

He wasn’t controlling it.

It was caused by the randomness itself.

And sometimes, these two worlds brushed against each other.

It was only for a moment.

But the synchronization still formed and created a time gate between them.

Noa sighed, ignoring Wei Rou’s presence behind him.

He waited for a moment until a sudden pulse told him that time on Earth and Ligma had finally matched.

Instantly, he summoned the portal.

Though the process took time to complete and the exact moment would shift, the rift had already connected both worlds at precisely the same point in time.

So the materialization had started.

It happened in the hallway, near the exit door.

Yun Qiqi jumped around nimbly, her body shaking from excitement. She had also clutched Senior Bao to her chest, happiness dictating her actions.

"Hooray!" she exclaimed, sensing the rumble through her feet.

The building shook.

Wei Rou guessed that something was about to descend into this world.

Yet he had no idea what it was.

However, based on the pressure and the unusual color shifts, he knew it was going to be a big deal.

Meanwhile, Noa looked at the scene with an unreadable expression.

The entire process lasted for a minute.

And when the rift fully matured in front of him, Noa took the first step, gesturing for the man and the little girl to follow.

Yun Qiqi didn’t hesitate at all.

She was so fast that she overtook Noa in a second.

As for Wei Rou, he tried to gauge the energy the portal was emitting. Though he moved as well, he was also fascinated by the foreign power that grazed his skin.

It caused him to tremble.

Qi was present, yes—but so was something else.

Something unexplainable.

But he wouldn’t dare keep Noa waiting, so he quickened his pace and stepped inside the portal.

The temperature dropped instantly.

Even the sounds had shifted into something so alien that not even Noa could explain.

The taste?

Transportation through dimensions, leaving Ligma and teleporting onto Earth, tasted like a perfectly grilled steak.

Yun Qiqi was holding Noa’s hand when they opened their eyes.

The view shifted.

They no longer stood in the silent hallway. Nor did murmurs from the loud disciples reach their ears.

Not even the steak’s taste lingered in their mouths.

’It’s cold,’ Noa thought suddenly, feeling the cold wind brushing his back.

He was standing in the same park.

The familiar scenery, the fresh scent of the rain, and the tall trees overloaded his senses.

"We are back!" Yun Qiqi exclaimed beside him.

Her excitement never reached the limit, increasing with each passing moment.

"What is this place?" Wei Rou asked softly.

He was almost whispering, both too scared and confused to speak.

There was not a single trace of qi around.

Even the foreign energy he felt earlier disappeared completely, leaving him in a world where cultivation didn’t exist.

"This is a distant realm. A faraway dimension, if you will, and we came here to get my sister," Noa explained while visible amusement danced through his eyes.

"Mia is Yun Qiqi’s sister as well," the little girl added, glaring at the man as if he had done something wrong.

Left with no other choice, the helpless cultivator nodded.

Then he gulped, waiting for his owner’s next move.

Noa, however, wasn’t planning to leave the park. He wanted to wait before Mia came on her own, expecting her arrival at any moment.

But he hadn’t accounted for the fact that someone in his group couldn’t sit still.

"I will go. Please! I will bring Big Sister here," Yun Qiqi raised her hand, pleading.

"What if you get lost?" Noa asked, shaking his head. "She will be here at any second now. We just have to wait for her."

"Pretty please! I promise I know the way," she asked again.

This time, her voice softened, and her eyes sparkled, assaulting Noa directly at heart.

"Okay," he gave up, but warned, "But I am watching you from here. Don’t wander around and go straight to her. Remember, it’s the fifth floor."

"Heehee," she giggled, dashing out of the park immediately.

Noa observed her.

He was keeping an eye on her, not letting her slip away.

Thankfully, the park was close to the apartment, and he could see how adorable she looked climbing up the stairs.

For the next five minutes, he waited patiently.

Neither he nor Wei Rou spoke—only the occasional bird chirping broke the silence.

But when he saw Mia and Yun Qiqi walking downstairs, hand in hand, Noa couldn’t help but smile gently.

"See?" the little girl said after nearing him, her voice filled with the usual smugness. "I didn’t get lost."

Noa shook his head and ignored her.

He shifted his attention to Mia and hugged her tightly.

"I bet you were reading manga and didn’t know when to leave the house," he said in a teasing manner.

Mia only acknowledged Wei Rou’s presence and asked no questions.

She frowned at Noa and nodded.

"I didn’t know when you two would come here. We didn’t exactly set the time," she said, waiting for the portal to open up.

Noa did the same thing as before.

He waited for the times to align and then summoned the rift.

A moment later, they reappeared in the hallway, looking ready to face the people outside and discuss the sect migration process.
