Dimensional Tycoon: I Make Trillions in Every World -
Chapter 59: Bond
Chapter 59: Bond
The longer Noa’s guests stayed in this chamber, the easier it became to notice the egg.
It was enveloped in a misty cloud, deepening the pressure as it continued to expand.
"What is it?" Elder Jin asked.
He was the first person to notice it, and his interest was piqued.
The egg clearly belonged to a beast.
But there was something off about it.
Not only was it devouring energy with unprecedented greed, but the energy itself was mysterious on its own.
It had unique properties from qi.
A denser, foreign force that had more structure and patterns, differing from chaotic states of qi.
It was much heavier as well.
"That’s not qi," a quiet frown escaped Elder Jin’s lips.
Wei Rou heard it and saw the disturbance in the air, his eyes narrowing as well.
"It’s not from this world," he guessed. "It’s too cold, too alien for that."
Soon, whispers broke out.
No one could tell what mana was, but they all could feel how it bypassed their dantian and stayed outside of their senses.
"The egg... It’s devouring something else."
"What about qi? Why is there so little of it?"
Noa, however, ignored this commotion, his eyes scanning the elders and disciples gathered around.
"This egg isn’t from your world," he answered Elder Jin’s question. "It was born in a realm ruled by mana, not the qi you are familiar with."
Mana.
That was a foreign, unnatural word for everyone present in the room.
Then, Noa got an idea.
He immediately controlled the space and added qi around the egg, observing how it would react.
It continued absorbing mana and remained unfazed for a while.
Yet, out of nowhere, the egg pulsed violently.
After ignoring qi for so long, it responded by devouring it too.
Suddenly, the surrounding energy intensified, dragging both sources of power and eating it with a soft hum.
Then—
Crack.
A thin crack appeared in its shell.
A light glow could be seen from the fracture, but nothing else beneath it.
"I-It’s absorbing both!" someone whispered in awe.
The crowd went quiet.
The air started swelling around the egg, but the shell remained intact, as if the one simple crack was already enough.
As for Noa, he simply watched the scene.
"It’s adapting," he realized, watching a creature whose true nature still bewildered him.
Meanwhile, something in this chamber had changed.
People no longer cared about their beasts.
No one was thinking about strengthening their spirit animals, as all of their concentration rested on a tiny egg.
On a creature that could consume both qi and mana.
It was definitely beyond this world or any other known realm.
It was something far more ancient, primal, far more dangerous than any other creature.
And whatever it was, it was one step closer to waking up.
"I can’t wait to meet her," Yun Qiqi said suddenly, pulling everyone’s attention to her.
’Her?’ Noa repeated silently, watching Qiqi with growing interest.
"I bet she will be my friend. And... she will like me the most," the little girl declared, looking confident and smug about it.
Everyone stared at her.
A small child, barely tall enough to reach the store’s counter, claimed friendship with nothing less than an energy-devouring, hungry beast.
She acted like it was a pet.
Though the egg was tiny, and it would hatch something small too, everyone in the crowd knew it would grow into something far greater.
Hue Xanly and her Senior Sister Qing Xuan also looked at each other.
"She... she is doing it again," the former mumbled, not blinking.
"She is acting like it’s normal," the latter agreed, swallowing hard.
Noa watched the scene with a warm smile, and when Yun Qiqi neared the egg and crouched down to it, he didn’t interrupt her.
Then, the little girl whispered something.
It was only between her and the creature.
Suddenly, for the first time, the egg stopped devouring energy, letting mana and qi envelop and mend its shell.
The air settled as well.
But the guests cared about none of that.
They watched Yun Qiqi, uneasiness gripping their hearts as the egg had listened to her.
’I bet she charmed it with her cuteness,’ Noa thought, grinning.
He gestured for Qiqi to leave the egg alone.
A moment later, when the girl took her place next to Noa, the egg restarted the earlier process of devouring energy from the space around it.
The scene was fascinating to watch.
It easily immersed people, while also growing their interest.
However, Noa didn’t want to sit all day and wait for them to quench their curiosity.
"Now, it’s your turn," he announced.
As elders hesitated and disciples exchanged glances, Wei Rou took the first step, letting spiritual energy ripple through his chest.
There was no need for chants.
He only needed to call his spirit beast, and it would obey his command.
Then the space rippled.
It came nowhere close to what Noa’s egg was doing to the world, and yet, an old seal pulsed, spreading energy in the shape of a blooming lotus.
Something stepped through the hidden realm of this world.
The spirit beast roared, standing still.
It had three golden heads and the fur of a lion, looking both regal and mythical. Wei Rou touched its tough skin, massaging three necks simultaneously.
Noa watched the spectacle with amusement.
The spirit beasts had a strong bond and connection to their contractors.
They weren’t just a means to gain more power.
They brought companionship, memory, and loyalty, and raising his hand, Noa wondered how this beast would be strengthened.
Wei Rou thought the same thing.
The room lit up as more seals were released.
One by one, people stepped forward, their hearts racing.
Each summoning was unique, their runes and qi levels differing from one another.
’Let’s see,’ Noa thought.
Then it began.
The qi inside the room shook, enveloping beasts like a cocoon. It flowed towards them in steady, long arcs and gave them something both foreign and familiar.
Just then, the lion was the first one to tremble.
