Chapter 378: Leak
Chapter 378: Chapter 378: Leak
True Man Yuanling let out a cry of alarm as his figure turned into a ghostly spiritual light, poised to fly toward the direction of the Demon Suppression Tower—but before he could leave, Yu Sheng casually pulled open a door beside him, revealing the core containment zone of the Demon Suppression Tower on the other side.
"This way is faster," Yu Sheng said quickly, holding the door open.
True Man Yuanling’s form materialized from the light, his eyes widening as he looked at the door Yu Sheng had opened, leading directly to the highest-level containment zone, feeling a torrent of mixed emotions in just a second...
However, he knew this was no time to quibble over "technical details." The moment that door opened, he detected slight changes in the scene within that suggested something unusual was happening in the Demon Suppression Tower. So he took a step forward, speaking rapidly to Xuan Che and the others along the way: "Xuan Che, quickly organize the Mountain Guardian Disciples at Queyun Palace and check the nodes of the Mountain Protection Array. Yuan He, help seal the periphery of Spirit Mountain; do not let ’filth’ escape outside. Senior Brother..."
He paused at the doorway, looking at Master Yuan Hao, but the latter nodded slightly before he could continue: "Don’t worry. Though I’ve been confined these years, I haven’t neglected my fighting skills. If anything unmanageable for the juniors comes out, I’ll handle it."
"Alright, I sense a subtle instability in the tower’s central flow, yet no alarms have sounded so far. It’s truly bizarre; everyone must be cautious!"
True Man Yuanling left these words and swiftly passed through the door.
Yu Sheng then opened another door leading to the main hall of Queyun Palace, calling to Xuan Che, who was preparing to take flight: "Go through here; it’s faster..."
Xuan Che had no time for words and, with a cupped-hand salute, hurried through the door. On the other side, True Man Yuan He watched wide-eyed and instinctively blurted, "Is there a door to ’Mountain Guardian Pass’? Next to Shifang Pavilion."
Yu Sheng thought quickly and waved his hand, "I don’t know that place, never been there. You’ll have to run there yourself."
True Man Yuan He blinked, and in the next second, turned into a glow of light, flying towards the depths of the Cloud Sea.
On the Cloud Viewing Platform, Erin strained her neck to watch the departing glow of True Man Yuan He, then glanced at the direction Zheng Zhi had pointed with hesitation in her voice, "Could there really be a problem? Everything seems fine now..."
Before the little puppet finished its sentence, a low, strange rumbling—like some enormous object slowly moving and crushing the mountain in the Cloud Sea—resounded suddenly through the mountains. Accompanying this weird noise was a faint tremor emerging from deep underground, interspersed with sounds like the breathing of a giant beast and thousands of noises!
Erin nearly jumped off Yu Sheng’s shoulder, exclaiming, "Damn... there’s really a freaking problem!"
Almost simultaneously with the puppet’s exclamation, a half-transparent rift appeared in the distance between heaven and earth like black lightning. This time, not only Zheng Zhi but also Erin and Hu Li clearly saw the outline of the rift.
The rift flickered in the air like a faulty illusion, as if slicing through a high peak within Qianfeng Ling Mountain in another dimension.
Zheng Zhi’s eyes were wide open, fixed on the lightning-like branches extending from the edge of the rift, "Brother Yu! Something’s coming out from there... and there’s something emerging from the mountain too!"
Before his words finished, the Cloud Sea boiled!
Without Zheng Zhi’s reminder, Yu Sheng could see the strange phenomena occurring all over Qianfeng Ling Mountain: the clouds enveloping the Immortal Mountain were surging violently, like boiling water, with countless nebulous shadows darting through the ’boiling’ clouds as if predatory phantoms poised to strike. Simultaneously, smoke rose from various spots in the mountain, as if rifts were opening everywhere—and then, the urgent bells of alarm reverberated through the mountains.
A terrifying pressure suddenly emanated from mid-air. Yu Sheng looked up towards the source and saw a rift appearing out of thin air, with a bone-armored, sinister monstrous beast frantically squeezing out of it. The beast appeared as a horrific amalgamation of skeleton and decayed flesh, chaotic and frightening in every respect. Chains from the Demon Suppression Tower still connected its bones, and countless Immortal Talismans on the chains were burning fiercely!
In the next second, the chaotic monstrous beast let out a roar, surprisingly speaking in human words, "Old Thief Yuan Ling! Your grandpa’s climbed out of that tower!"
Countless immortal talismans burned out in the blink of an eye, the sturdy Demon Suppression Chains snapped inch by inch, and the fierce beast pushed open the crack, pouncing towards the Cloud Viewing Platform.
What greeted it, however, were countless black threads appearing out of thin air, expanding fiercely like a spider’s web.
Erin raised her hand, countless spider webs interweaving and spreading, enveloping the skeletal fierce beast emerging from the crack layer by layer. Almost simultaneously, Yu Sheng caught a glimpse of Master Yuan Hao making his move.
This legendary "Master Uncle" took just one step forward, already standing in mid-air. From his sleeve silently flew out an object, square-shaped, neither metal nor wood, glaringly red, cold and intimidating. As it was released, it roared with wind and thunder—remarkably, it was a brick.
The ferocious beast, bound by spider silk in mid-air, heard a sudden gust of wind by its ear. As it looked up, it saw the brick already close at hand, its peripheral vision further catching sight of Master Yuan Hao standing in mid-air. The overwhelming pressure shook its entire body violently, and it unleashed an unwilling and furious roar from its throat: "Damn it, it’s the old thief Yuan Hao..."
With a loud "bang", the "brick" smashed straight into the beast’s face. This seemingly ordinary strike reduced the beast’s terrifying-looking body into a sky full of dust, which was then instantly purified and dispersed by the radiant red "brick".
Yu Sheng, who was about to make his move, was dumbfounded by this scene, his eyes wide open staring at the old, handsome expert with white eyebrows and hair standing in mid-air (as well as the floating brick beside him). Finally, he couldn’t help but blurt out, "... Is your weapon a brick?!"
Upon hearing this, Master Yuan Hao almost fell from the air, the old expert’s face fraught with frustration: "This is the Ten Directions Heaven-Suppressing Ruler! The Heaven-Suppressing Ruler! I just made it a bit shorter during refining!"
Yu Sheng listened, stupefied. He had no idea what category of magic treasure the "Ten Directions Heaven-Suppressing Ruler" was, but he did catch from Master Yuan Hao’s tone that he might not be the first to say that his magic treasure looked like a brick...
However, now was clearly not the time to continue discussing whether "it’s reasonable for a handsome, tragically strong Immortal Monarch to use a brick as a weapon".
For as the fierce beast fell, countless cracks large and small had already appeared out of thin air around the Cloud Sea surrounding Qianfeng Ling Mountain!
"This is friggin’ insane!"
Seeing those cracks, Erin exclaimed instinctively. She had to weave her spider silk again, trying to place the entire Cloud Viewing Platform within the protective range of the spider web. Hu Li, in contrast and without a word, lay down on the spot, transforming into a giant Nine-tailed Silver Fox. She then controlled the enormous Fox Travel Cannon that synchronized its size, directing a barrage of fire at the nearest few cracks. Following that, Fox Fire flared, sending a series of four or five rounds of Fox Radish Missiles whistling out, unleashing a wild bombardment in the Cloud Sea!
A crack formed above the Cloud Viewing Platform, accompanied by a teeth-grinding creepy sound. A mass of pitch-dark dust surged out of the crack. As the chains behind the dust were cut by the crack’s power and the talismans on them burned to ashes in an instant, a creature with a vaguely humanoid silhouette emerged from the dust. Immediately after, countless similar cracks appeared above the Cloud Viewing Platform, from which countless strange and bizarre things swarmed out.
Inside were all sorts of things—not only the ferocious exotic beasts and Evil Path demons captured and suppressed by Qianfeng Ling Mountain, but also Evil Path cultivators who had fallen into the Demon Path and notorious immortal realm criminals, as well as all sorts of bizarre artifacts and loss of control entities contained in the Demon Suppression Tower over the years. Some roughly human-shaped, some roughly beast-shaped, some utterly unrecognizable, for a time the cloud-ridden space echoed with all sorts of wails and roars, endless chaos!
A streak of gold flashed past Yu Sheng’s peripheral vision. As he turned his head, he saw the long-haired princess wielding a golden scythe, slicing the humanoid silhouette creature in half. As the creature struggled and turned into black dust, the girl deftly and quickly jumped back half a step, the golden scythe in her hand transforming into a long spear, which she used in a backhand to pierce a mass that seemed intent on a sneak attack from the side—a meatball with countless eyes and limbs. Following that, golden light cascaded down like a waterfall, nearly shredding the numerous "subordinates" spawned by the disintegrating meatball.
Yu Sheng’s naked eyes almost couldn’t keep up with the long-haired princess’s movements. The usually unreliable girl displayed astonishing combat skills in the blink of an eye, and an instinct for battle clearly honed through countless life-and-death situations, leaving him dumbfounded.
In the blink of an eye, the long-haired princess had cleared a space around herself. Noticing the gaze falling on her, she shook off a little dirt and grime from her hair, looked up, and gave Yu Sheng a carefree grin: "Brother, impressive or what!"
"...Impressive," Yu Sheng flung a Wolf Fang Club, sending a winged demon that was flying around noisily through the air. While watching the long-haired princess with admiration and conviction, he remarked, "I knew you could fight before, but I didn’t expect you could fight this well."
"The ones emerging from here seem easy to deal with, at least they’re ’tangible’ enemies that can be contacted and destroyed," the long-haired princess’s magical golden hair gradually spread out behind her, like a mesmerizing, undulating pool of water that slowly expanded to cover the entire Cloud Viewing Platform, countless swords, war scythes, blades, spears, halberds, and spikes emerging wildly. It seemed as if they had their own will, commencing to slaughter any hostile entities entering the area covered by her hair. "As far as I’m concerned, if it has a health bar, it can be killed, and these things are much easier to deal with than the demons in the tower."
